FoxBoy:

Welcome to High Noon
I couldn't help but notice how tense duels in MM8BDM can amount to. So, I decided, what if you guys did a tournament based around duels? I decided to take upon it and do just that. Oh and, by the way, this is for glory (and for fun) so don't be afraid to show no mercy, hehe.

WADs
We will be using the following wads...

IWAD: megagame.wad
- mm8bdm-v5a.pk3 (In case the game updates during the tourney)
- duelitempatch-v5a-2.pk3 (As seen from Kool Dool)
- newtextcolors_260.pk3 (Because it's pretty)

Rules of Play
We will play by a mix of Grouped round-robin rules. Everyone will be split into groups of four (Or less, if we have extras) and each group will get together to play duels in double round-robin fashion. Once the round-robin is over, the best two participants proceed to the next round, who will then be grouped together in another round-robin. Play will continue until we have only four players left, in which case we will double the duel count to determine the winner. All ties are broken by an additional duel. In the case of a tie greater than two players, those players will have a single round-robin until the tie is broken. All tie breakers are done with a random map selection; players have no choice.

Each duel will consist of 5 frags each. However, map choice will work a little differently.
Each competitor will battle every other player once, and may choose the map each time.

For example, if we have four players in the first group, this happens:
A picks: A vs B, A vs C, A vs D
B picks: B vs A, B vs C B vs D
C picks: C vs A, C vs B C vs D
D picks: D vs A, D vs B, D vs C

Each group therefore performs a total of 12 duels per meet.

In the case of a no-show, we will perform everyone else's duels first and see if they arrive. If they do not arrive and we are only relying on an individual's duels, then a vote is called to either wait an additional 15 minutes, or disqualify the player. The referee has no say in this vote.

Groups will first be split up randomly via RANDOM.ORG, then swapped based on time zone to maximize availability.

Once split into groups, each group will be given their own place to discuss on irc.zandronum.com when they will meet and what service. My home channel will be #highnoon if you have any questions regarding the tournament. In case you don't have an irc client, you can go to https://client00.chat.mibbit.com/ and get connected that way.

After the groups are set up, you will be given your own private channel to talk stuff over.

Our default host will be The Sentinel's Playground, however, a different host may be chosen (that is not hosted by a player) if all players agree to the non-standard host. This server must have RCon access for the judge.

To sign up, post your game name, as well as the name you will use on IRC.
