Is it possible to cheat with MM8BDM ?....

I hate cheats/cheating, there is no pride, honor, when you cheat in a tournament and others.
Bikdark told me, the "canadians" cheated, how can it be possible with MM8BDM ? Specially if the server use no autoaim (or not, autoaim is awful I think) or no_chasecam (it's a cheat I think).
If you have some "evidences", I can listen.
Remember people, there is always a guy stronger than you : )

I think I heard about aimbotting or wallhacking in Skulltag or Zandronum in the past.

Anticipate and predict is part of the skill
It makes me sad because it's the reason why they left the game...people hated them personaly, so they started to say "they are bad guys and they cheat, we don't like them"....awful :/

There was a bit of a debacle with Unix using aimbots a while back, so it's definitely possible and I have no doubt wallhacking is a possbility as well, but I don't really know of anything of the sort actively going on nowadays.

It's maybe because Maxine and Mendez ruined the match because they were too low to play with Bikdark : P

For the cheat thing, i suppose zandronum fixed that there is some years ago then.... there is no proud to win with a cheat, except for some trolls....

I was tempted to place input here previously but elected against it then, I'm unsure why I'm violating my own decision now.

Short answer: Yes, it's possible to cheat with Zandronum.
The main reason this is possible is due to the very thing that allowed Zandronum to become larger than Skulltag- with the advent of it becoming open source, people have been able to modify their clients to do stupid things ranging from appending text to the end of their chat messages to ...well, aimbots.

Logically speaking it isn't a hard thing to wrap your head around, if you have even a little bit of coding experience, one could easily modify their client to remove the thing that prevents players from being rendered while they're behind walls or structures. Guess what? Now you have a wallhack. An aimbot requires a bit more algorithmic work, but it's likely still possible.

Of course, this is likely a pessimistic way to look at the engine. More than likely the developers have taken measures to avoid such means of cheating, but I have seen examples of client modification in the past, such as the aforementioned text appending, that leads me to believe cheating in this manner is possible.


tl;dr - Is this form of cheating possible with Zandronum? ...Probably. Are these means accessible to the general public? More than likely not, as it would require direct modification of the engine which not everyone would have the patience to do.

Just gonna point out that the projectile nature of MM8BDM severely limits the effectiveness of aim bots just on the sheer basis that you have to anticipate where targets are going to go and lead your shots.

Like autoaim=always ? Yeah, worst thing to aim well....it works just for people who play some doom wads without the mouselook (horizontal things), or people who need help to aim a little but not the best way too'. I think....
