Again, just like when Minecraft updates.  Ha ha hah!  Aaaaah...
*quietly sobs*

But seriously, I'm really looking forward to seeing what people come up with under all the fancy new functions Zandronum 2.0 has to offer.  :3

So... would this be the appropriate thread to report WADs/mods/etc. that don't work under Zandronum 2.0?  Or would it be better to (necro-)post in the original WAD/mod threads?  'cause just as an example... I get a DECORATE error that prevents the game from starting when trying to play "Survival in Numbers" single player mission mode.

It's like updating Minecraft add-ons... except thankfully nowhere near as frequently mandatory.

Gonna ask an obvious stupid question here: Are you supposed to see the weapon names when you switch weapons now?  "Megabuster", "Needlecannonwep", etc.?  Just curious.
This is really ugly so I looked it up
apparently "cl_showweapnameoncycle false" doesn't work any more
Go to Display Options and turn "Display Nametags" off.
Quote from: "Messatsu"
Yea, that's been deprecated and replaced by displaynametags. The settings are
0 - Off
1 - Items only
2 - Weapons only
3 - Both

Or as mentioned above, you can change it in display options.
Greatly appreciated, chaps.  <3

It's the little things that make the biggest differences, I swear...  Hee hee.

If I read the Zandronum forums correctly... Zandronum v2.0 actually runs in OpenGL mode again under certain OS and hardware setups.
... which is fantastic for me, since v4b somehow broke OpenGL mode for me on my gaming computer.

So... yeah!  Win-win for Mr. J~

Edit:

Skins & Bots etc / **RELEASE** Mega Man Christmas Carol Music Pack
« on: January 04, 2015, 02:45:37 AM »
I can't remember the last time I did this...  Wait, no, I can.  Some time in August.  Of 2013!
In any case, I have something new for you folks.  It's not a skin... and it's not a bot...  No, it's something completely different.

It's a music pack!  But not just any music pack.

Back on the day after Christmas of last year, I finally did something people had been interested in for a while.  I finally released the entire Mega Man Christmas Carol soundtrack in MP3 format.  Awesome, right?  Well, it gets more awesome.
Today, since I still had the WAV files handy, I decided to work on a version for Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch specifically.

And here it is:
Mega Man Christmas Carol Music Pack (MediaFire, 10.31 MB)

The SIN update for some reason doesn't work on Best Ever
That's because he forgot the www on the URL.  I had to manually find the file myself, but I got SiN v1e.  Haven't played it at all though.  I really should one of these days...

22
Psst.  Hey buddy...

The URL is " http://www.best-ever.org/download?file=mmspsin-v1e.pk3 ".  You missed the WWW -- which shouldn't normally make a difference, but apparently does in this case.  <:

You want feedback?  I got feedback.  Also, hi.

That aside, this is a pretty good expansion!  It has way more content than I was expecting and most everything else is done really well!

One thing of note: I got really confused when I played the single-player campaign since I couldn't change colors as I grabbed weapons.  Then it dawned on me: "This campaign in team-based!" and I had a laugh at my own expense.  I also enjoy the new weapons and their unique properties, such as Remote Mine and Copy Vision using your crosshairs for aiming.  Just like the game they came from, it's much unlike anything we've experienced so far.

Great job, everyone!

Haven't a clue, Crasger.  The MotD is the default "Best-Ever!" message with only the global ServOPs listed. (I don't think you can change this...?)  Whoever set this particular server up did some with the least amount of work possible for a Best-Ever! server.  And since it's an automated process literally anyone can do, well...  I can understand how it could happen.

25
I really have no idea who runs what server half the time and it doesn't seem like something worth bringing to the attention of Best-Ever! directly, since they just host the servers, not configure them.

26
I'm not sure if this is the best place to mention this, but the current "Best-Ever!" server for Endless Attack is broken.  Someone didn't set the map rotation correctly and it's physically impossible to get back to the ENDATCK map from MM1CUT.

That said, it might be a good idea to implement a "resetgame" and "hub" command to the mode which supercedes the map rotation, in the event someone doesn't set it right or if people otherwise want to restart the score counter.

That post looks incomplete.  And I don't speak in acronyms.  Can you clarify what you mean by "posting instead of YD" for me?

As for the special weapons thing for the Gaea Armor, I can understand having them if the armor lacks range, speed, and spike invulnerability.  I'm willing to concede that point.  But I think if the armor were given the spike invulnerability it should have, in a future update, then special weapons should also be removed.  Though I doubt spike invulnerability would ever be added since there's only one stage that even has spikes right now.

So, yeah.  Moot point.

I think you guys are getting a bit ahead of yourselves.  As well as Max.

Baby steps, guys.  Baby steps.  Though thinking about it, I wonder if there's a way to implement the Gaea Armor's spike invulnerability without making X invincible to pitfalls.  Unless I'm mistaken, both the spike sectors and the bottomless pit areas share the same sector ID which causes players to explode.  Changing spike-ridden sector IDs to kill anyone not using the Gaea Armor item/class (whatever method gets used in future versions) shouldn't be too hard.  Right?
Removing special weapons for that armor would be great, too, for authenticity purposes.  It would also give a good reason to change the armors from inventory to actual classes.  But again, that's just my opinion.

Fair enough.  Thought that does remind me...

I tried to reset the game on one of the servers recently.  I was the only player in the game and typed in the command, but when I went into the reset room, it returned a message "1/0 players want to reset the game" and it never reset.  Is that normal?

No offense, but don't you think you should work on fixing the existing bugs before adding new ones?

Yes, I typed that correctly.
