Yes yes, I know there's already a B/W topic, but this is a completely different aspect of pokemon in general
Pokemon Online is a battle simulator released some time in 2009-10. If you're not familiar with tiers, they're banlists for pokemon, which makes the game more balanced and fun. For in depth guides on competitive battling, go to http://www.smogon.com/. PO allows you to create "perfect" pokemon that are totally legal in game, but through EV training, IV and move breeding, which can be extremely tedious tasks, and that's why this sim was created. PO supports generations 2, 3, 4 and 5. There are still a few bugs, namely Copycat changing how it works from gens 4 to 5, but that's quite minor. Updates for PO come about every 1-2 months, and there's currently an android app for the sim. Just spreading the word about PO and competitive battling because only about 2 people on this forum know about smogon and such, but pretty much everyone plays pokemon here. I guess this topic should just be used for discussion about PO and competitive battling in general.

I'd try, but then that would evolve into PVP battling and I NEVER do PVP in pokemon, besides, alot of people don't even use there favorites period, they just go for the strongest possible pokemon and when they see a stronger one, they just throw away there weakest one like last weeks leftovers

I always use a team of abra, sneasel, swalot, quagsire, drowzee, and grumpig

So, if I have to battle a trainer that has a team of lv50-60, I use my lv20 Riolu, my lv15 Dialga and my lv30 Reshiram. Right?

It's called competitive for a reason, and that's what OU is for, the most overused pokemon. It's to see who can use the "best" pokemon to build a team that wins most often. There are of course people who use their favorites, but not everyone is going to use a damn Noctowl and Exploud on their team!

He's trying to say that just because they're your favorites, doesn't mean that you should have to use them.

I got to run this game on wine pretty well and I find it cool, it's a shame that it has such limited stats points because that forced me to nerf some of my Gold team stats.

You need to select gen 2 from the generations list, and then you can have the infinite EV's that gen 2 allowed you to have.
