W.I.P Forum / MM4SP - Cossack Crusaders (WIP)
« on: June 03, 2019, 06:44:05 PM »

Welcome to Cossack Crusaders!
Mega Man is in trouble again-- Dr. Wily has wiped out all of Dr. Light's robots in a brazen attack, and he's kidnapped the good doctor-- and Roll, too! Desperate for help, Rock turns to an old friend (and foe) in the snow-covered Russian hills. But Dr. Cossack gives him much more than a hand; in fact, he gives him eight pairs! His Robot Masters are ready to turn the tides in Mega Man's favor!

What is this?
Cossack Crusaders is a new mod designed to bring back the single-player experience offered by MMSP, SiN, and MMXSP a few years ago. It was always one of my favorite experiences in 8-Bit Deathmatch, and breathing new life into it via this mod has been extremely rewarding and fun. Fight your way through 8 stages and bring down that malevolent menace Wily!

(click to show/hide)

What's in it?
Play as 9 classes, each with their own special playstyles, strengths, and weaknesses!
Collect 72 unique weapons among each class to help you turn the tide of battle!
Explore 8 different stages, each guarded by a tough-as-nails Robot Master and crawling with mechanical minions!
Team up with your friends online to take on Wily's robots together!

(click to show/hide)

Great! When will it be released?
Excellent question. We have one stage fully completed so far, but we want to include another so the beta doesn't get too stale right away. This is a pretty massive undertaking filled with new assets and lots of time and manpower, so don't expect it to be out right away. That being said, we will let you know when you can take on Wily's forces!

Send me a message over Discord or PM me here for details on what you can do! If we think you're up to snuff, give us a hand! The more the merrier!

We're excited to bring this to you as a new chapter in singleplayer experiences. Stay tuned in to this topic for more updates in the future!

Until next time!

Graphic Alterations/Submissions / [Improved Sprites] Pharaoh Man's Skin
« on: December 12, 2018, 05:35:49 PM »
Pharaoh Man's skin is very old. I attempt to make it not so old.

Whilst working on a project that requires him, I noted a bunch of inconsistencies in his frames, namely that the buster hand swaps on some of them. Couple that with height/buster problems and generally bad looking frames, and Pharaoh Man does not look like the king of Egypt he ought to be. Therefore, I corrected a few of the problems I found and came up with this:

I know it isn't perfect and I don't care if someone else edits these or makes an entirely new Pharaoh skin, but this thing is as old as Moses and ought to be changed.

Skins & Bots etc / Magnet Dood's Skins

I make skins sometimes. They're pretty cool. ... n.pk3?dl=0
This is Mecha Pitchan, the pitching robot from MM10. He's 8-directional. It's a pretty cool skin. ... R.pk3?dl=0
Here's Cargou Q, the robot that throws balls at you from MM10. This is the round ball version, I have a football version sprited but not skinned. It's a pretty cool skin.

Screenshots will come eventually. Otherwise yeah.

Closed / MM7DW4 Centaur Flash
« on: August 01, 2016, 06:41:24 PM »
This is a minor gripe, but MM7DW4 still has Centaur Flash in the middle platform that requires Super Adaptor to reach. Given its old function, this was an acceptable placement, but with its changes in v5, other maps have set a precedent as making it much easier to grab (I think MM9JEW has it easily accessible). I don't think making it hard to reach is necessarily bad, but the requirements to grab it on MM7DW4 make it a bit over the top for what the weapon can do now. I think it ought to be changed to some other AOE weapon that packs a better punch, given its placement.

Help & Editing / Server Connection Issue
« on: July 30, 2016, 03:14:38 PM »
I have a feeling that this has been covered in past topics, but a quick gleaning of the help & editing forum didn't produce any results, so that's why I'm here.

I'm having a lot of trouble connecting to servers after v5 dropped. I have all my file paths set up correctly and the game loads fine, but it just goes to the console screen where it says "Connecting to (Server IP Address)" over and over. I'm not sure if this is something with how Doomseeker should be set up or if it's firewall skulduggery, but any help would be appreciated.

Alternatively known as "Third Time's the Charm."

Whoa, whoa, whoa, those aren't the DOS Robot Masters at all!
I suppose I've got some explaining to do.
As many of you forum-goers know, I have been the leader of many expansions in the past, DOS being the most prominent. I was a staunch supporter of keeping things original and using the source material for the majority of my leadership tenure. However, over the summer, I finally realized that... well, the original DOS games really suck. And to be frank, the source material wouldn't translate right in MM8BDM at all. Seriously, DOS 3 had, like, three weapons that just fired a simple projectile forward, with no added features to them. No thanks.
Instead I was introduced to these awesome redesigns of the entire DOS cast, and decided to reboot the DOS project with completely new material-- new stages, new weapons, new Robot Master designs... essentially, new everything. So that's where all this comes from.

So is this actually the DOS Expansion, or is it something new?
That's up to the viewer to decide. As far as I'm concerned, it is, but the only thing this project shares with the old one is in name only. Pretty much everything else is new.

Okay, who's on your team? It isn't just you again, is it?
Not this time! My team is currently composed of the following 10 individuals (not including myself):
Caprice: Tileset Design
LlamaHombre: Mapper
Galactan: Mapper
Watzup7856: Mapper'
Thunderono: Mapper
Rozark: Mapper
Gumballtoid: General Handyman
Badz: Weapon Designer
Korby: Spriter
Lego & SmashBro: Design Consultants
Trillster: Weaponsmith
DarkAura: Photographer
FTX: Spriter
IamaMedalHunter: Spriter

Well, shucks, seems like quite the team. Mind if I join on?
Well, you can't just sign up willy-nilly. One of the big leadership problems that was my fault on the last one was that I just kind of handed out stuff to whoever wanted it. Now, I'll be going through a harsher vetting process. I would like to see some of your former work, if possible, and I'll require a majority of the current team members to sign off on your addition, as well. Don't let that discourage you, however-- we're a pretty open bunch.

What do you currently require, then?
We've already got some decent progress going at the moment, but admittedly, we're pretty short on hands for a project this ambitious. Essentially, we need everything-- spriters, skinners, weapon-coders, mappers, tile-set makers...

Also, feel free to put any of your own ideas into this topic! Some things are already set in stone, at the moment, but we're still throwing around concepts for a ton of things. Weapon concepts, map concepts, you name it, give it to us. We'll be certain to consider it for the project if it's up to snuff. One thing that would be especially helpful would be prop designs, as a matter fact. We'd love to get some common enemy props to dot the stages with. In fact, we might do something about that later down the line... (hint hint)

Wait, didn't NemZ already make all of your tiles?
Not quite. As we said, we're going with all new stuff here, and his tiles are built off of the source material, which we won't be using.

Will this have its own campaign?
That's certainly a goal for it, but it won't happen until after the first release, most likely.

What about those pesky custom weapons? Will there be a version that doesn't have them so I can enjoy the maps?
Yep! There will be a separate pack that will remove the weapons in order to make the expansion a little more server-friendly.

Special thanks go to:
SnakePixel, designer of all these sick concepts who allowed me to use them. Dude's an artistic genius; go check out his twitter page to see his stuff! (The DOS designs are buried at the moment, but a little digging will find them in a couple of minutes:
All of the members of the old team and those who helped with it, including NemZ especially. Sorry we never got to use your stuff to much effect.
Kackebango, for allowing me to use his music once more (and for composing some new tracks for this, as well!).
Rozner Labs & Hi-Tech Expressions, for making it all possible in the first place.

If you wish to apply for helping out, please send me a PM with your Skype name, preferred position (mapper, spriter, what have you) and a sample of your work if you have it.

Help & Editing / How many teams?
« on: May 25, 2014, 03:33:10 PM »
So everyone's been discussing new team colors for king, which started to get me thinking. How many teams can Zandronum support? I've been fooling around in Paint and I wanted to know if it's possible.

MM8BDM Discussion / Mr. Clean Sponsored Classes Duel Tiers
« on: February 22, 2014, 09:56:15 PM »
A couple of days ago, Orange Juice expressed his desire to tier all of the classes according to their ability in Duel after observing me fighting with Dark Man 2. He called him a "wet sponge" based on his fighting prowess next to other classes, to which I responded that Charge Man must be likened to a Mr. Clean Super Scrubber.

Enter Mr. Clean Duel Tiers.

This is a sort of guidebook for players on the wonders of Classes Duel, which has experienced a resurgence in popularity the past few weeks. Each and every class is tiered according to their ability and their descriptions are chock-full of attack notes, lame puns, and ways to counter them.  The tiers start at Charge Man, who is in a class all his own, ending at what OJ has dubbed the "Spongeforce", the lowest possible tier available. Feel free to post your ideas, thoughts, and comments on these here.

Keep in mind that these are entirely subjective and are not based according to personal ability- classes are merely tools waiting to be exploited by those who can use them well.

maybe this could make classes duel tournaments a little more interesting

Anything Goes / Last Man Standing: An MM8BDM Fanfic (Chapter 2)
« on: January 03, 2014, 09:43:40 PM »
Hi, all. Magnet Dood here starting up a little project.
This is a story I began a few days ago based on MM8BDM. The story uses a spin on Classes TLMS for the plotline. My writing isn't totally great, but I'm trying to write an enjoyable story. Please give me any feedback you can on it. This'll be a long-term thing- I'm not sure how far it'll go, but I hope it goes for a while.
If you want to be in the story, just let me know what faction you want (Cossack is allowed), what class you want to use, and what you want your name to be, and I'll write you in. Include any details you want about your personality or anything, as that'll help me write. You can post it here if you want or send me a PM, just don't try me on Skype.
As I post new chapters, I'll probably link the newest one to this post for easier viewing pleasure. Here's the first two chapters:

Help & Editing / Just how do I get Doomseeker to work?
« on: November 10, 2013, 06:13:13 PM »
Because I've essentially exhausted all of my knowledge.

I've redownloaded the game, shut down the firewall, redownloaded Doomseeker, all to no avail. I could really use some help on how to configure this, since I've been unable to play the game for months.

Info that may or may not be helpful:
I keep downloading Doomseeker in a .zip file, where everything is separate. I figured this might be a problem, but when I tried to download it as one file, my computer won't load it.
The error message I get whenever I attempt to load servers is: Error: Master server for Zandronum: Connection timeout (;15300). Is this any indication that I might be banned?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I just have no idea what to do to fix this thing.

« on: September 03, 2013, 01:07:29 AM »

This project is dedicated to bringing the overlooked and underappreciated DOS Mega Man games to the world of MM8BDM. As of now, progress has been decent at best, but like most other expansions we've become rather stagnant. We'd love to receive your help! Please ask about anything you might want to do. Currently, we need mappers and weapon coders, but don't hesitate to ask what you can and can't do!

Rejected / MM6CEN Suggestion
« on: July 12, 2013, 02:58:45 AM »
I think something should be done to the Centaur Flash area in MM6CEN, because currently that area is literally all you need to win a match there. The problem arises when you're able to get Cen. Flash and 4 W-Tanks in a relatively short amount of time. Jumping down into the bottom area and spamming it is going to net you a couple of frags at least, especially during a crowded match.

I don't really know how to fix it, but I do think it should be fixed. Maybe make them large energy capsules or space out the W-Tanks- hell, even putting them on ledges that require Thunder Claw swinging (since it's on the map) would probably make it better than it is currently.

W.I.P Forum / Fanmade Co-Op Map List
« on: April 06, 2013, 03:46:05 AM »
People are claiming maps for this mod left and right, and it's bound to get ugly if we don't do something about it. Thus, I'm creating this handy chart to keep track of all fanmade Co-Op maps, simply to avoid duplicate maps and perhaps to help people find others willing to help with anything they might need for a Co-Op map. Feel free to claim maps here and show progress of work. You could also release maps here, if wanted, but it's up to your own discretion.

Hey all. This is gonna be a dumping ground for some old spritework I tried a while ago. Feel free to use any of it for your own purposes.

First up is an old Saturn skin I tried. The frames are decent, in my opinion. Go ahead and fix it in any way you'd like.

Added a mouth because he looked goofy without one.

Neptune skin from a year or two ago. The side frames are pretty horrid, but I threw them in anyway, since I forgot to add in NemZ's... that pic is long gone now.

I'm proud of the firing frames though.

Willl update with more old crud later.

In the peaceful world of Dream Land... a group obsessed with power has come to light... now it's up to a select few to band together... and defeat the forces of evil...

The citizens of Dream Land have become the target of a deadly mafia group! Townies, band together and defeat the mafia corrupted by evil. Mafia, destroy those bumbling townies and claim victory!

Independents just do stuff I guess

Now before anyone goes "Travis still has his you brick", Travis has informed me that his mafia will be going nowhere anytime soon. He's given me permission to bypass him so I can do mine.

What you want proof ok

So, this mafia has abilities. The descriptions are inside the roles. Just PM me when you'd like to use them (regarding the time restricitions of course).
