Forum Games Archive / Cutstuff Mafia Dinner Theater [Smash Still Worst]

B.F.U.
G
BIG FUCKING UPDATE

READ IT HERE

so this is a SmashBro mafia and it doesn't have all the gimmicks you have known and loved in SmashBro mafia

here is a story blurb
(click to show/hide)
here is a rules

Everything here is parody and you will probably become slightly offended during the course of the game. It's all in good fun so put on your best sportsmanship face and laugh with the rest of us. Unless you had to pawn your sportsmanship face for food, in which case wear your Ghastly Gibus instead.
You can't play as yourself. In the event that Random.org is a butt and gives someone a role that corresponds to their existence in the parody mafia world, I will just have to keep punching Random.org in the face until it stops being a butt.
It is mandatory that Cold Fusion participates in this mafia.
If your name is WheelieCarbonate you will be removed from play. Think of this like Yu-Gi-Oh! or Magic: The Gathering, in where a dead player can be revived, but someone removed from play is just wiped from existence.
Roles will not be sent out until Saturday the 31st at the very earliest. I don't care if this fills up in less than 10 minutes, I have real life obligations to take care of.
I reserve the right to kick you in the e-peen. And by "damage the digital dong" I mean "not let you sign up".

here is an audio tutorial if you want to learn how to mafia

Events / MM8BDM Mapper's Expo [Aug/Sep 2013 - Fortress Stage]
« on: August 11, 2013, 11:08:30 PM »
Welcome to the Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch Mapper's Expo!

Based on the popularity and enjoyment of the SBWT Mapping Competition, the idea was to have a semi-regular get-together for mappers to have fun, learn new tricks, gain experience, play with tilesets they haven't really messed with before, or just to have a generally good time. Every two to three months, a general theme will be chosen, with its own selection of requirements for textures, size, or actors. There will also be an Item Of The Day which must be placed in the map. Think of this like the secret ingredient in Iron Chef, where each team has to use that ingredient in their meal. Other than that, you're free to do whatever you like with your maps, and you're more than welcome to collaborate with others to improve your maps.

The theme this time is "Team Fortress". No, we're not talking about going invisible or eating lots of deli meat. Instead, think of the various castles and fortresses across the Mega Man series of games. The idea is to make a new Wily stage... or Cossack stage... or Mr. X stage, or anything final boss material. Yes, even non-Classic bosses like Sigma are fair game.

Like any good event, there are some rules you have to follow:

It has to be a fortress stage! Don't make a new Guts Man and say Wily decided to hide out in an abandoned mine shaft. However, if you were to use fortress stage textures with some rocky outcroppings here and there, it's fair game. Creativity is highly encouraged, but remember to keep a general "fortress stage" vibe to your map.
Custom actors and textures are permitted, but anything that changes the gameplay experience (specifically, weapons and classes) are forbidden.
The stage must have at least three logos of your chosen fortress. These are the "Dr. W" textures you see in walls or on pillars through a fortress stage.
This time, the Item Of The Day is Wire Adaptor. Your stage must have Wire Adaptor somewhere in it, and it must be obtainable through normal gameplay.

Other than that, you're free to do whatever your heart desires and your mind can think of. The deadline is September 16th at 12:00 midnight PST (3AM EST). Though you could technically submit an older map and I would be none the wiser, the general idea is to make a new map or to retool and highly improve an older map; "remix" it, if you will. Please submit your maps through Cutmail or Skype. All maps collected before the deadline will be put together in an Expo Pack for immediate download once the event is finished, unless opted out of by request. Any inclusion to other map packs or collaborations is solely up to the mapper(s) in question, and will never be performed or implied without permission.

Have fun, and get to mapping! We officially start August 12th, due to the release of 8BDM v3b.

[6:45:07 PM] Rock Strider: and can I read from a point value in a game mode that isn't team based

also if you may, how do I make it so that a morphed player class doesn't die when they run out of HP, they just de-morph instead
also also, can I make an actor with infinite health, but it still recognizes taking damage and will enter a pain state

W.I.P Forum / The Battle Brothers Map Pack
« on: June 19, 2013, 07:39:34 PM »
SmashBroPlusB is now HERE. He is advertising a THING. This thing may or may not finally become a REAL BOY.

Presenting the BATTLE BROTHERS MAP PACK.

It occupies a wondrous EIGHT SPACES in your inventory. It is really that large. Its largeness is similar to THIS TEXT.

The number of maps is currently UNKNOWN. We have NO IDEA what we are doing. Science is progressing in a RADICAL and EXCITING fashion. There are currently SIX MAPS planned but there might be more if we are not PROCRASTINATORS. Studies carried out by Fusion Labs indicate that we ARE INDEED composed of PROCRASTOIDS. It is a previously-unknown metallic compound responsible for the forces of LAZINESS and LETHARGY. Being exposed to massive amounts of PUNCHNIUM and FALCONITE should remove any traces of procrastoids in the host body.

It is now the time for SCREENSHOTS and diminished amounts of CAPITAL LETTERS.

« on: May 18, 2013, 12:00:03 AM »
I'd like to thank Rozark for spending my money for me.

Basically, I'm going to be playing Borderlands 2 with Llama, Ukiyama, and Nemu later tonight in a stream. While I'm there, I'll be taking entries for the first-ever Smashing Raffle. I'll be giving out three Steam games: Cave Story +, The Binding of Isaac, and THE BIG DADDY PRIZE. There are only three requirements to entry: you must have a Steam account with enabled trading, you must not already have the game in question, and you have to be at the stream at the time of the raffle in order to accept your prize. Other than that, it's a massive free-for-all that ought to have you turning your friends into enemies in no time at all.

Post here or show up for the stream to sign up for the raffles!
Cave Story's raffle will be tonight's Borderlands 2 stream.

Events / Mega Man Awesome Network Developer Conference
« on: February 16, 2013, 10:00:37 PM »
The official announcement of the Mega Man Awesome Network Developer Conference.

credit to Neoman for MegaMan.EXE portrait

As you may or may not be aware, Mega Man Awesome Network was a project started by myself and a few of my good friends, in an attempt to replicate the conventions of Mega Man Battle Network with custom player classes, weapons, and Battle Chips. I can't remember who was the one to inspire me, but somehow the focus shifted towards a full-on "expansion" of sorts, complete with maps, bosses, and a unique single player experience. Needless to say this viewpoint was pretty grandiose and overshooting what was reasonable, and eventually development on the project waned repeatedly until eventually new progress ceased to exist.

Skip to about two months ago. Besides the ever-enthusiastic Stonefunk, a slight interest has (for a third time) resurfaced for the project. In particular, Megaman lamented the state of Awesome Network and asked about any possible future. The team talked for a bit, then decided on a complete revamp. Previous builds of AwNet were cobbled together from many different versions, and passing it through Skype was not the best course of action. I decided that a total rebuild would be the best thing to do, and that besides a few Battle Chips and some base code, most of the mod would be completely done over from scratch. Giving the team the rest of winter as a "vacation", the goal was set for February to begin the revamp.

This announcement was originally posted in the Awesome Network thread, but I moved it here in order to reach a wider audience. There will be a "developer conference" of sorts being held tonight at 9PM Eastern Standard Time, though I may start streaming earlier in order to ensure everything works in time for the event. During the stream, the team will be talking about the current state of AwNet, plans for the future, and answer any questions the audience might have. We'll also be releasing all of our old code to the public; everything works in v3a, though loading any weapons or classes will break the ammo definitions for the Mega Man 8 weapons (plus Time Slow / Oil Slider) so they can't pick up ammo or be refilled. This is pretty standard for any v2-based project loaded in v3a though, just keep it in mind.

Events / [CUTTERS] Mega Man 8 Server Party!
« on: December 21, 2012, 04:00:15 AM »
The Rolling Cutters are going to be hosting a server on Saturday, December 22!

We hope to have lots of players there to experience the new content brought to us in Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch v3. While a Friday game would be a clear choice due to the release date, delaying the event to Saturday will ensure that players can have a bit of time to soak in the changes on their own.

More information will be made available on the day of the event. Thanks!

MM8BDM Discussion / The Rolling Cutters! (an 8BDM community channel)
« on: November 29, 2012, 03:04:03 AM »
Some of you may remember a discussion held a while back about a community YouTube channel for Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch. Several users such as Bluebrawl, Accel, MetalManu, Turbodude, Jack Corvus, Orange Juice, and even myself were interested in the idea and showed some initiative, but it never really took off the ground.

Well, no more! With v3a hanging juuuuust out of reach I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to start a channel in an attempt to assist new players or to attract more attention to this wonderful game of ours. I'd like to present The Rolling Cutters, a channel I've personally started for this very mission! The goal is to spread the community love and have a little bit of fun while doing so. I'm more than willing to accept anyone interested in the project, as long as a few basic guidelines are adhered to.

All for one and one for all. Cutters are more than welcome to promote personal material such as game modifications, server hosting sessions, and map packs, but the main focus at the end of the day is to enrich the 8-Bit Deathmatch experience. Don't try to "steal the spotlight", either by downing other Cutters or by basking in your own image.
The Cutters are a harassment-free group. Attacks against other Cutters is not permitted in the workplace; for example, you are not permitted to restrict another Cutter's access to the channel or to the shared mail box. Everyone should try to get along in order to show the community in the most positive light possible.
Don't change account settings unless instructed. If you change the channel password or the key to the shared mail box, it will prevent other Cutters from accessing these tools. In the event of treason or an attempted hacking, I have a personal account tied to The Rolling Cutters that can be used as an emergency reset button, so don't even try it kids. Just play friendly, alright?
The channel's main focus is for 8-Bit Deathmatch. Other games can be shown on the channel if a relevant community event is taking place, but for the most part stick to MM8BDM and related content. Also, avoid adding videos to the channel Favorites or creating extra Playlists. If you want to feature a video about MM8BDM that is not hosted by The Rolling Cutters, add it to the Playlist marked "8BDM by other users", then select it in the Featured Video tool.

Currently, our team consists of the following Cutters:
SmashBroPlusB - myself; leader of the Cutters (looking to appoint another captain!)
Atticus - who originally pitched the idea in the first place
FiniteZero - music composer and skin specialist
Tengu and Tango - weapons and maps showcase; don't get confused, that's a single person
    Blathers - user modification showcase
Turbodude - jack of all trades and the friendly tutorial guy
Human Destroyer - MM8BDM community event commentor

Anyone interested in applying can submit a request to me via Private Message. Please include why you are interested in joining the team, as well as anything you think you could contribute to the channel. The shared mail box (therollingcutters@gmail.com) is open for requests and fan mail, but all applications should be sent to me through a Cutstuff PM.

Thank you for the support, and I hope this turns out to be a success!

The WWW board / Luigi's Mansion Interactive Adventure
« on: November 14, 2012, 09:38:49 AM »
This deserved its own thread.

I usually hate "YouTube adventure" videos, but this one takes the cake. While you can complete it fairly quickly, the real charm comes from taking Luigi around the house to do ridiculous and mundane things. The part where the brothers order chinese food while talking about Adam Sandler's my favorite, heh heh.

While you're here, go check out DrCoolSex's other videos, or post some adventure video series of your own.

The WWW board / BRAVEST WARRIORS
« on: November 10, 2012, 09:18:37 AM »
hey so you know that Pendleton Ward guy who made Adventure Time

well he did a thing called BRAAAAAAVEST WAAAAARIORSSSSSS and it's pretty darn cool

Fair warning though, it's slightly more "mature" than Adventure Time. Nothing too serious though, but I thought I might say it anyway. Hey, it's not nearly as bad as Pen's other web series, but still...

I just wanted to share this so people know it even exists.

Mega Man Discussion / Rockman Xover recreation from Mike and his friends!
« on: October 13, 2012, 03:41:07 AM »
Okay, I'm sure a lot of you have already heard of it, but here it is for those who haven't.

Basically, three guys from Cutstuff (CutmanMike, Brotoad, and Press Start) recreated the core gameplay of Rockman Xover in a fan game. From looking at gameplay videos, trailers, and official screenshots, their recreation is a very accurate prediction of exactly how Rockman Xover will play.

Oh, they also made it in Flash. In under 24 hours.

Get all the details from Rockman Corner, and check out the suggested fan games at the end of the Xover recreation. While 8BDM is one of them, I was also reminded of Co-Op and Versus, which is now at version 11. Thanks for the reminder guys!
