Most pointless thing you did in a video game?

Ah, I just remembered another thing. I played the Sonic (and Shadow) stages in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, but without using the homing attack at all, unless I absolutely needed it to continue. I would have done the same with Sonic Adventure 3, but they don't let you just jump into enemies for that game for some stupid reason. I did try this partway through Shadow the Hedgehog, but I grew bored due to enemies having health bars.

Which reminds me, I once went through Sonic 2 without using the Spin Dash. I tried to do the same with Sonic 3, but the Spindash is required in the levels in that game.

The other day I did what may have been the stupidest thing ever.

Me and my brother were playing Borderlands 2, and I nabbed a sidequest to get Bane, a cursed gun. So we started it. We went to Lynchwood, the area you have to go to to get it, and the enemies were WAAAAAAY too powerful for us.

But guess what? Like complete idiots, we tried to fight them off. When that didn't work, we tried to run past them.

After about TWO HOURS and $20,000 worth of dying each, we FINALLY made it to the end and got the gun.

And then we put it in our banks and we haven't used it since.

I wasted about 20 minutes trying to solve a puzzle that leads to a Super Missile door in Metroid Prime 2 only to realize I couldn't jump high enough to reach it.

Mario: Getting unlimited Hammer Bros. Suits in SMA4 and throwing the penguin around in SM64.

Megaman: Making Megaman step back and forth. So it looks like he's dancing.

Pokèmon: Nickname them to something really random (Yellow, LeafGreen, SoulSilver, Black). The mass breeding of Eevee eggs was kinda pointless when I only actually needed 7 to breed (Black).

For any actually, I would just walk the player around and do random stuff.

Commander keen 4: Using every save slot in a different part of the game so it feels like there are many "keens" conquering different places.
Also Screwing around with the pogo stick. Good times.

Mega Man Zero/ZX series:  Talking to every single NPC at every stage of the game (as in beginning, after major events, end).
Spider-Man 3:  Walked across Manhattan length-wise (God, this game sucks.  Not as much as the movie, but still quite a lot)
Super Mario Galaxy:  Spent 30 minutes doing long jumps around the two Starshrooms at the start of one of the Space Junk Galaxy missions.  I managed to do two full figure 8s without touching the ground with Luigi.
Sonic Unleashed (360):  Crawled my way through Apotos Act 2 (obviously getting out of the crawl when necessary)
Mario Kart DS:  Drove through every single course in reverse (flipped forward when necessary, like for jumps)
Mario Kart Super Circuit:  Drove through Rainbow Road backwards (as in drove against the normal flow of traffic, not in reverse.  Required Mushrooms from Time Trial)

That reminds me, I tried to use every save slot on all my memory cards to be able to replay my favorite parts in Paper Mario: TTYD. It was kind of pointless though, because I couldn't even figure out which file was which. There was no way to differentiate.
