There's a short novel I'm working on that I may make into an action-adventure game in the future if I go into game development. Feedback is appreciated! I'll gladly take suggestions as to where the novel will go in direction if I get stuck in writing.
Prologue - The 6 Gods
In the beginning there was nothing. The empty void of space occupied an undefined plane of nothingness. It was ruled by one god: the god of Darkness and Void, Noxium. Ever so lonely, the solitary god made a single wish; to not rule over nothing. After an undefined period of time, his wish came true. He had felt his power shrink greatly, almost halved. When he came to his senses, the god had realized he had split in two! He had created his polar opposite. The new goddess, Phos, was the newly born goddess of Light and Radiance. With her power, she created the sun and stars, adding luminescence to the newborn universe.
The two gods lived in peace for eons, but both began to feel emptiness. The universe was but a lit room with no furnishing. The two gods then again split, but this time into 3 each. Noxium created the gods Gaia (god of earth and nature) and Strix (god of wind and the sky). Phos created the goddesses Cordis (goddess of fire and soul) and Maren (goddess of the sea and life).
The gods used their combined powers to create the earth, and all of its inhabitants. They took a particular interest in the humans for their superb intelligence, for of all the earth’s creatures, the humans seemed the closest in spirit to the 6 gods. The gods then provided mankind’s welfare in every manner, placing them a step above the animals of the earth.
The world was peaceful. At this time, there were no wars, no conflicts. Humans were in complete concord with each other and nature. It was a truly happy time in history. The gods then parted and agreed to rule separate parts of the earth. Gaia ruled the earth, Strix ruled the sky, Cordis ruled the mantle of the earth, and Maren ruled the sea. Phos and Noxium ruled the gates to heaven and hell. In doing so, the humans also parted. Followers of Gaia lived in deep valleys and canyons, followers of Strix lived high in the mountains, followers of Cordis lived on Islands formed by volcanoes, and followers of Maren lived in coastal areas.
However, a problem soon followed. Noxium had very little followers because his realm was the gates of hell. Most followers between Noxium and Phos were in Phos’ favor due to Phos’ realm being the gates of heaven. Growing ever so jealous of the other gods, Noxium eventually went mad. Silently keeping in his envy, he called the other gods to a meeting. There they discussed that in order to give the humans complete trust in the god’s existence, they would bestow the gift of magic to all inhabitants of the earth. There was much debating over this. Phos and the goddesses argued that if peace were broken, the humans would have power capable of destroying the earth to fight each other with, therefore causing catastrophe. Noxium and the gods argued that it would give the humans complete trust in the gods.
Without consent, Noxium’s faction carried out their premise and gave their followers the gift of magic. Balance was immediately disrupted. The humans of 2 nations and of Noxium’s disciples became intoxicated with power, and used it to try and conquer the other, weaker nations. In response, the goddesses gave their followers the gift of magic in order to resist total conquest. Noxium’s goal was achieved, he had successfully turned the gods against each other.
Realizing that they had completely thrown off the celestial balance of earth, the gods tried to cease the wars of the nations, but their efforts were fruitless. The endless cycle of the human’s conflict had started, and could not be stopped by any means of intervention from the gods. Finally, the 5 other gods made the decision to cut the power of magic entirely from their followers. But-
