I can explain it. Even though i use dyndns it is basicly works on the same principle.

You sign up for an account. Then you install this small piece of software on your computer. The software contacts the service with a message of what your ip address is. The service uses that message to associate your domain name with your Ip address. If your ip address changes then the program will send and update to no-ip/dyndns, your domain name will be updated to go to the your current ip address.
