DECORATE and ACS Modifications / MMV Chapter style bots for Skirmish mode
« on: November 15, 2020, 04:27:14 PM »
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ne0z0ildody968f/MMV-Skirmish-Bots-v1.1.pk3?dl=1

This mod will allow you to fight MMV Chapter style bots in skirmish, where bots will use their canon colouring and special weapons. For bots that don't have special weapons of their own, some compromises have been made for some of them (e.g. Doc Robot and King) while others will just use the standard buster. A few bots even have a special ability, such as flight. This mod also adds bots for skins that currently lack them (e.g. alt forms of Roll, Bass, Slash Man, Ballade, etc).

As the title states, this was designed mainly for offline skirmish. If this is being played online, there's two bots in particular that will cause major lag on the server (both of whom use a certain spoiler weapon from the campaign) so be careful.

This will also work for campaign mode, but only in Chapter 7 onwards. This won't take effect for Chapters 1-6, for story reasons. And of course, this won't take effect for the MMV Chapter itself either.

Have fun!

The WWW board / The April Fools World Cup 2017
« on: April 01, 2017, 04:18:23 PM »
It's that time again! Questionable websites turning to corn, Virtual Reality devices being introduced to Minecraft, and Doom Time Trial Boss Attacks turning out to be baits and switches entirely. What's going on? Why, it must be April Fools Day once again!

So what interesting things has this year's April Fools Day brought us?

W.I.P Forum / [April Fools] Better Mega Buster
« on: April 01, 2017, 06:57:07 AM »
I've made some changes to the Mega Buster to improve it a little. I added in a Charge Shot based on code from the Classes mods, and the buster pellets now have a "dying" animation when hitting targets or terrain. Would appreciate some feedback so far!

MM8BDM Discussion / MM8BDM no longer playable in OpenGL?
« on: March 24, 2017, 12:30:25 AM »
Until now, Zandronum has been running quite fine on my Windows Tablet, in OpenGL mode. But now, it's completely and suddenly unplayable. I'm getting complete lag spikes even from the menu screens, and sometimes I have to force close the game with Task Manager. I never updated Zandronum, so I don't know what's going on here. :(

Software mode still works fine, though.

Cutstuff Discussion and Feedback / How do I set up a poll on an old topic?
« on: September 12, 2016, 02:18:06 PM »
I need to set up a poll on one of my topics, but I don't seem to know where to find the feature. I don't know where to find it ever since we moved forum software. Editing the OP doesn't seem to offer the ability either.

It it's something that's literally right under my nose, it'll feel embarrassing, to be fair.

Help & Editing / GZDoom Builder is choking on MM8BDM-v5a.pk3
« on: September 10, 2016, 04:24:27 PM »
I don't know why GZDoom Builder is choking on MM8BDM for some reason. Here's the error list when you start a new map with "Zandronum: Doom 2 (UDMF)" format chosen with megagame.wad and MM8BDM-v5a.pk3 autoloaded:

Does anyone know what's going on?!

In most levels that have large lakes of water, the bots very often end up dogpiling in the underwater area while very rarely being seen on dry land. It's especially bad in MMBDW1 where there's often a mosh pit of bots fighting right over the Remote Mine while you'd be lucky to see them wandering elsewhere.

Levels that have such lakes include MM8AQU, MMBPIR, MMBDW1, MMWTMWS, MM9SPL, and probably some others I'm missing.

I suggest adding the "block monster" flag to most of the water edges so that bots can fight on land, but not every water edge. MM3GEM and MMBCOL are good example of this.

Closed / Dr. Light fence
« on: August 30, 2016, 09:38:11 PM »
I find it strange that I cannot jump over this fence that's sticking in. You can stand in the driveway in between them at least, so why we cannot jump those particular fences I don't know.

Closed / Bot unstick script no longer working
« on: July 29, 2016, 02:41:30 PM »
The bot unstick script no longer seems to work anymore, which means bots end up getting stuck on Block Monster linedefs once again, just like in the pre-v3 era. Concrete Man, for example, is stuck here in MM1GUT:

The line he sprouted here is hilarious. <!-- s:lol: -->:lol:<!-- s:lol: -->

The WWW board / Super April Fools 2016 Fighter Turbo HD Remix
« on: April 01, 2016, 12:37:44 AM »
It's that time again! Twitch emotes being introduced to message board sites, Minecraft updates going a more "love" and friendly approach and abandoning combat and danger entirely, Blizzard posting hilarious fake patch notes, and Doom deathmatch maps turning out to be Jelly World in disguise. What's going on? Why, it must be April Fools Day once again!

So what interesting things has this year's April Fools Day brought us?

Closed / Mouse cursor for menus
« on: August 23, 2015, 12:47:18 AM »
The upcoming Zandronum 3.0 supports the mouse cursor in menus (ZDoom and GZDoom has had this for ages now), including custom ones. The only problem is that Daisy's bloody, severed head happens to be the default cursor, which would be way out of place in Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch, especially considering the blood. There's also different selectable cursors themed on Heretic, Hexen, Strife, and Chex Quest, and while not as bad as Doom's Daisy cursor, they still look out of place with the 8-bit setting.

So my proposal is, replace Daisy with an appropriate Mega Man themed cursor. Does anyone have any ideas?

MM8BDM Discussion / Zandronum 2.0 nearing release
« on: January 27, 2015, 06:09:00 PM »

Quote from: "Torr Samaho"
If no serious problems with this build are found, we can move ahead with the stable release of 2.0. So this is your chance to make sure that 2.0 will suit your needs. Be sure to use it and test this build thoroughly.

Pretty much what this reads. Once Zandronum 2.0 is released, everyone will be moving to it. If something breaks with MM8BDM, it could be disastrous. Anyone want to test MM8BDM with this?

Smash Arsenal
(click to show/hide)
SmashArsenal_v0.2.pk3 (Sendspace download)

This is Smash Arsenal, a mod that gives the player most of Mega Man's moveset from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. Instead of collecting weapons, you can hold down a directional button and then use primary or secondary fires to use a particular attack. As a result, all weapons and buster upgrades are removed from the map, along with ammo pickups, W-Tanks, Energy Balancers, and Reggae Calls. All mobility assisting items such as Item-1, Wire Adaptor and Rush Jet are also gone. M-Tanks are replaced with the normal E-Tank. Some items such as Beat Support and Tango are still available. The Party Ball's drops have also changed to reflect this.

Mega Man Discussion / R.I.P. Chikao ?tsuka, voice of Dr. Weil (1929-2015)
« on: January 16, 2015, 11:29:02 PM »
http://www.rockman-corner.com/2015/01/c ... -2015.html

Japanese voice actor Chikao ?tsuka has tragically died on January 15th 2015 of a heart failure. He was 85 years old.

He voiced a wide variety of characters in video games, such as Big Boss from the Metal Gear and Dr. Eggman from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchises. However, us Mega Man fans probably know that he also voiced Dr. Weil from the Mega Man Zero games.

Farewell, Chikao. May you be at peace at last.
