Two questions:
1) Will the teams be named after Dr. Light, Dr. Wily, Dr. Cossack, and Mr. X?
2) How many players will be allowed to join? It wasn't easy to get 32 players for my duel tournament, and I doubt it'll be easy to accomplish the same feat here.
3) Who decides who plays in what events?
I see 3 Questions, öhhh.... HOW CONFUSING!

Lmao, i wanna join this:

Able to Host: of course no.

That's fine. From the votes, I seem to have the most for starting after tomorrow. Any day one would like to suggest?

Alright, competitors, the time has come. The 8-Bit Megalympic Games have been put off long enough.

The deadline to join the 8-Bit Megalympic Games is Sunday, June 26th at 3:00 PM Central Daylight Time. If anyone wishes to partake in the Games, register soon because once the teams are drawn, no new contestants may enter.

Currently registered contestants will receive a PM reminder tonight so they may know what time to expect the teams to be posted. The date, time and event for the first contest will also be revealed after the drawing.

*cue drumroll*

Ladies and gentlemen it is June 26th and as of the time I started typing this post, it is 3:00 PM according to my clock.

Registration for the 8-Bit Megalympic Games is officially closed. No new contestants may enter as of the time of this post.

I thank all of you for your interest in partaking in the first-ever Megalympic Games and I hope this turns out to be a great success as we run it to its conclusion. Without further delay, here are your teams for the 2011 8-Bit Megalympic Games, chosen at random from the contestant pool:
(click to show/hide)

Please do not request any team changes; I did warn all of you beforehand that the teams would be randomly selected to attempt to be as fair as possible with distribution.

Here are the rules concerning shorthanded teams:

-Individual events: Teams Light, Wily and Cossack will choose one member to sit out the event. That same player, be forewarned, may not sit out another individual event until every other team member has.

-All team events: Once the time to start the contest begins, teams will even out by adjusting so they have as many members as the team with fewer players. If you want 5-on-5, encourage your team to be there. Again, once a player sits out, they may not sit out that event again until all other team members have taken their turn in the spectator box.

If you cannot make a certain event or events, please post here in the thread so at least your team and I will know you won't be there so we may adjust accordingly. Responsibility falls on you if you do not show up to an event and you didn't notify me ahead of time or you do not have a good reason for being gone.

Dropouts from the Games altogether will only go unwarned to other tournament/special event directors if there is a good reason why. I will be the judge of what is and isn't a good reason. Real life issues suddenly getting in the way (such as work or family emergencies) will be excused; just not wanting to finish will not cut it. You made a commitment to compete and you are now committed to a team. These games do not ask a lot of your time per day.

Now, for the first event of the Games:

Individual- Deathmatch

I'll get those rules and official matchups at a later time, possibly tomorrow. My laptop will not start up, so I'll have to get it wiped and download MM8BDM again. In the meantime, the desktop in the study's all I've got. With that, I also have a need of hosts. Anyone not playing who would like to host can; just remember the rules laid out in post 1. If you are going to host, please also put [8BMG] in front of the server name so contestants know you are running a Megalympics server.

Like I said, it was completely random. You could have landed with the Harlem Globetrotters, the Washington Generals or anyone in between.

I don't know if random was a good choice. I mean, it's alright, but if something like that happens, it might deserve a re-draw. I mean, look at rtist's tournament. He mixed people by abilities so it would make for better end game matches.
