MM8BDM V6 - Released!

(1/10) > >>

CutmanMike:

Virus outbreaks and invaders from space! MM8BDM V6 is the biggest version we've ever pushed, so thank you for being patient with us. Mega Man V for the gameboy holds a special place in many people's hearts as it had a cool theme and took a different spin on the story for a classic series Mega Man game. I decided to push MMV content very early into V6's development as I felt Mega Man 10, while still a great game, wasn't that exciting on it's own. V on the other hand, would allow use to go into unchartered territory with the weapons and maps, and provided a much more interesting challenge for us. I feel this helped inspire the team do such a good job with the new content, and judging by the response and hype for this release, I believe it as the right decision. The singleplayer story and gameplay is unlike any previous version of MM8BDM, and even does some things you won't see in any other Doom mod. I hope the excitement pays off, let's go :)

Keeping your save data!

Since this has become a big issue for most people, there are two ways you can keep your old save data:

1. Extract the MM8BDM zip contents into your current and overwrite everything. This will NOT delete your save data, as it is stored in your unique .ini file.
2. Create a new directory for the MM8BDM zip contents. Then, copy over your zandronum-(yournamehere).ini file into the folder.

We've also added a new feature to boost your save data to the MM10 campaign, should you not want to bother clearing all the old content. You can find it in the advanced options menu. You must be in Dr. Light's lab to use this feature.

NOTE: This only works in campaign. Offline Skirmish and other modes that use bots will have them as they were before.
-A number of bosses now take more damage from your weapons.

==Training

== WEAPONS AND ITEMS ==
================================

New and Updated Content-
-Weapons from MM10 and MMV have been added.

-Item 3, a new mobility tool, has been added.

-Exit Unit reworked. You will now always teleport to your initial spawn location for that life. There will be a visual indicator of where that is after you pick up the item.

-Beat Call reworked. Instead of giving flight when falling into a pit, you now manually activate it to thrust you into the air and hover gently down. You can tap jump to cancel the glide.

-Treble Boost reworked. Instead of being an ammo-based true flight weapon, it functions more similarly to Super Adaptor. Double tap jump while holding a direction to dash in that direction.

-Junk Shield reworked. It now functions as a charging weapon that fires more projectiles based on charge, with the thrown projectiles themselves being able to block incoming fire.

-Flash Stopper reworked. In order to make it a more interesting weapon to play around, its flash is delayed and only blinds if you’re looking at it. The blind lasts longer and the attack deals increased damage.

-Thunder Claw reworked. Although its damage is lowered, it now hits instantly, making it easier to hit with.

-Mirror Buster reworked. The shield has a fixed duration and stores all damage it takes over its lifespan. You can now hold the counter shot indefinitely, but no shots will fire immediately upon the shield being struck.

-Taking half your maximum health or more in damage will result in a unique damage effect to play.

-Players die taking more than half their maximum hp in damage are instead gibbed.
    (The gibs can be disabled in the options menu)

-The regular base Buster, Proto Buster, and Bass Buster huds have all been updated.

INDIVIDUAL WEAPON CHANGES

In an effort to increase game speed, most weapons in the game were given a 33% increase in their damage and then rounded to the nearest whole. Things will feel very different and numbers may seem scary at first. We completely expect these changes to take time to adjust to, but believe them to be a good direction for the game. That being said, we will be watching and listening for any tweaks that we may have to make to ensure a balanced state is reached.

The changes previously made to Gyro Attack didn’t work consistently and from a design standpoint were not intuitive. Decreasing the weapon’s potency in another way allows skilled players to still go for “double hits.” By instead lowering the fire rate, the distance a projectile must travel before it can be split has been increased.

Notes

Once again, thank you for your patience. I hope it was worth the wait :) Special thanks to my team again, who all contributed oh so much of their time to make content for this thing and clean up my mess when I break something. Really couldn't have done it without them, and wouldn't. We're at a point now where we don't quite know what the future holds for 8BDM, as Zandronum development seems to be pretty much at a stand still and we haven't laid out any plans for MM11 content yet. Once we know what's happening, we'll let you know. Be sure to follow me on twitter (link at the top of this forum) to stay updated.

Flowey98:
FINALLY! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

-Daiki-TheOni:
Yeeeesss!!!!! Thank you very much for this!! best megaman game, here we go!!
CMM,you and your team are the best!
 :)

Goomba98:
Before we get too excited, I'm gonna tell you right up front that your archive for v6a is missing the MM8BDM launcher that every other version has. And copying the launcher for the previous version doesn't work, because it still looks for v5d.

supersmashgaming:
The time is here. The 10 years were worth it.
