In the wake of Machinima's new youtube video:
(click to show/hide)
linking to the MM8BDM download page, I propose we make the "forum" button a good deal more prominent. The forum is where all the interaction, support, guides, etc etc are, so why not make it easier and clearer to access?
To reference, this is the page I'm referring to.
http://cutstuff.net/mm8bdm/

Instead of the small "forum" button underneath the download banner, why not make a second flashy banner underneath it with something along the lines of "Forums, Troubleshooting, And Multiplayer" (Because that will totally fit on the banner) so that people know where to go to set up Doomseeker, get custom mods, and interact with other MM8BDM players, among other things? Just my two cents.

Rejected / Jittery Top Spin
« on: April 17, 2013, 06:41:11 PM »
This has been known for a while; probably old, but I don't see any reports about it.

When a player uses top spin, they occasionally appear to "jitter" when viewed by other players or coop spied, as if they were still rotating. Spinning again ends the effect. The player does not notice any of these symptoms. The point at which the top spin is used and/or the length of the jump may be related to the bug occurring. The bug first appeared in V3A.

Sweet News Ticker:
I bet you're wondering why there's a new thread. Basically, DonutYoshi quit the entire project over a nerf to wild meowth. Thus, I am making a new thread for the current team (Because Llama, the other manager, can edit my posts anyways   )

Cutstuff Region is a Pokemon fangame running in Pokemon Essentials, a template for RPGMaker XP. The game will feature people from Cutstuff, a plethora of music edited into the BW2 soundfont, Custom Sprites, An actual plotline, Fully functional Pokemon magic with EVs, IVs, all that good stuff, Hemi-Functional Code, all 649 Pokemon obtainable in-game, Pretty Pictures, free drinks, and slightly less fascism than the Soviet Union!

The game's still a WIP (and I use that term heavily), so there's no estimated release date yet.

Holy Crap, we actually have progress!

120 YEARS AFTER THE END OF DND...
It was a bright and shining day in the world of TERAERAER...
A peace summit between the two nations of Mot UF and Team Evil Guys was beginning.

"So your great grandfather went into my great grandfather's base..."
"Yep."
"Shot each soldier 56 times..."
"57."
"And killed the president?"
"And that's how it went down."
"...We need to stop waging war."
"...That sounds boring. You're boring. I don't like you."

A gunshot rang through the room, killing the leader of Team Evil Guys.
And with that, the peace summit broke down, just as everyone expected.
A huge portion of the [cough] "Nations" were wiped out in one fell swoop.
And that, my dear readers, is the cheap exposition for DND3.

In the wake of some recent controversies, I've decided to host a much more laid-back event. In case you forgot to read the title, that event shall be

Events / Pokemon Tournament Director's Cut HAS BEGUN!
« on: January 06, 2013, 02:08:55 AM »
As the previous Pokemon tournaments aren't going to be completed anytime soon, I figured I'd give it another shot with a more realistic registration goal. There will be four brackets: NU, UU, OU, and Ubers; you can sign up for as many or as few as you want to. They will be using the PO tiers and will be held over Pokemon Online. Signups will last for one week [Tournament scheduled to start Jan 13]; if we reach 8 players in a bracket before this, a direct elimination tournament will begin. Otherwise, if at least four are signed up, a Round-Robin tournament will begin.

You may change up to TWO pokemon's species throughout each bracket. You may change EVs, items, natures, moves, nicknames, whatever else as many times as you please.

Help & Editing / Doomseeker Setup Guide for MM8BDM, Updated for V3A!
« on: December 30, 2012, 06:55:16 PM »
Note: Although there is a guide to setting up Doomseeker, it's very, very outdated. This version is for V3A and covers the transition to Zandronum.

WHAT IS DOOMSEEKER?
Doomseeker is a Doom Port Server Browser, which gives you a list of all available servers for Zandronum, Skulltag, Odamex, Vavoom, and ChocolateDoom. Don't worry, we'll only be using one of them: Zandronum.

WHY DO I WANT DOOMSEEKER?
Doomseeker is amazingly convenient and fast compared to the internal browser.

How to use the internal browser:
Load MM8BDM.
Navigate through the clunky browser.
Get server info.
Download all missing wads manually.
Reload MM8BDM with wads manually.
Navigate to server.
Connect and play.

How to use Doomseeker:
Load Doomseeker.
Select server.
WADseeker automatically downloads all missing wads for you.
Connect and play.

Doomseeker is easily ten times faster, so once you've installed it, you can get right into multiplayer games and frag away!

INSTALLATION GUIDE:

I will update this with pictures and/or video ASAP to make the process more user-friendly.

1. Download and install. http://doomseeker.drdteam.org/
2. In "Query" in the toolbar, uncheck everything but "Zandronum". This makes querying slightly faster and slims down your results.
3. In "Server Filter" (The funnel), enter "megagame" in the field labeled "WADs". This excludes servers hosting Doom, Doom2, HeXen, and other games running on the same engine.
4. In Options > Configure > Engines > Zandronum > Path to executable, navigate to wherever MM8BDM was extracted to and select "zandronum.exe"
5. MAKE SURE that "Masterserver address" is "master.zandronum.com:15300" without quotes.
6. Uncheck "Testing Releases" if it's checked.
7. In the same Configure menu, select "File paths". Select the folder you extracted MM8BDM to and ensure that you put all .pk3 and .wad files in that folder.
8. In the same Configure menu, select Wadseeker > General. Select the folder you extracted MM8BDM to under "Directory where Wadseeker will put wads into". Wadseeker automatically downloads mods for you that you don't have.
9. In Wadseeker > Sites, ensure you have the following URLS in the large white field. If you don't, copy and paste them into the white bar below and click "add". These are the two most-used sites for MM8BDM, though some very obscure mods may use other sites.
Code: [Select]
http://www.best-ever.org/wads
http://wadhost.fathax.com/e107_files/downloads/wadseeker.php?search=%WADNAME%
10. Hit "Get servers" (Double red down arrow). A list should show up.
11. Try connecting to any server with the only wad listed being "MM8BDM-v3a.pk3"; one server as of the time of writing this is ":: [BE] New York :: MM8BDM CTF".
12. If you connect, Doomseeker is set up!
13. Try a server with another mod; use ":: [BE] New York :: MM8BDM TLMS" as a test, this server won't be running any private beta test mods.
14. If you complete the downloads from Wadseeker and connect, Wadseeker is also configured correctly and Doomseeker should be working perfectly. Go wild.

A list of dedicated servers to basic game modes can be found here.

FAQ:
No servers are popping up, and there's a message saying I'm banned from the Zandronum Master Server! Why?
Sometimes, the Zandronum Staff needs to ban a range of IPs to keep a known cheater or troll out of the servers. Sometimes, players get caught up in these ranges and are banned before they can even play. If that happens to you, follow these instructions and you'll be unbanned.

Now that you've installed Doomseeker, feel free to use this post for any questions you have about Doomseeker Tech Support!

MM8BDM Discussion / MM8BDM Best-Ever Servers
« on: December 26, 2012, 11:18:20 PM »
A few Best-Ever serves have been put up for your MM8BDM'ing needs. If you have an idea for a server you're certain would get a lot of traffic and enjoyment, feel free to suggest one. If you have any questions, complaints, or death threats, post those too.

These servers are made with new players in mind. Doomseeker is highly recommended, but here's a tutorial if you want to use the internal browser for some reason. Download the mod files highlighted below, put them in your MM8BDM folder, and select them with the "add file" button on the launcher. Once you've got the game loaded, simply A. Type in the console "Connect [ip address of the server below]" without quotes, or B. Locate the server through the internal browser in the Multiplayer -> Browse Servers menu.

If you have the address http://static.best-ever.org/wads/ on your wadseeker list [Requires Doomseeker], all wads will be downloaded automatically when you connect!

Red Signifies Servers that are down.
Blue Signifies Servers with a known issue.
BEST-EVER servers are wiped often, so don't panic if you don't see any or an old IP suddenly doesn't work. If this information is outdated and you would like to connect via IP and obtain your wads here, just post and I'll recheck the info.

MM8BDM Discussion / SAVE SR50
« on: August 09, 2012, 11:57:47 PM »
PEOPLE OF CUTSTUFF, WE REQUIRE ASSISTANCE IN THIS DARK HOUR.

SR50 is apparently under scrutiny or is going to be from the MM8 team (details not explicitly clear at this time), and may be removed by outright automatically kicking players employing it! SR50 is a strategy involving custom aliases bound to your movement keys allowing you to move moderately faster (slightly less than 10%) at the brutal cost of not being able to turn horizontally at all (this means no fighting back) and requiring extra input whenever you want to use this extra speed. This tactic can be emulated by straferunning and turning precisely, but the alias squeezes out the very little bit of extra efficiency.

SR50 has been in Doom and Skulltag since their creations, and there was even a thread on the ST forums explaining SR50 in depth that was never locked or deleted. As such, it's moderately safe to say it was left in intentionally by the ST staff to better emulate Doom.

After a lengthy discussion, we've decided to see what the public thinks of this strategy and whether or not it should be removed.

Also, I don't even use it and people like Roc and I support its usage.  :ugeek:  :ugeek:  :ugeek:  :ugeek:

Before you insult and or berate me, let's do some science

The Duel league needs 12 more players to do a grand total of 496 matches, which is going to take a long time. Plus Dunces and dragons is over anyways lol

And with that, along with my impatience, Oh God it's The Buddy System Redux

Quote from: "My lazy self from early September"
From the egotistical prick man who brought you Brosession, Dunces and Dragons, and The "Buddy" System...

"Best tourney evar" -Kenkoru

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
A few rules as to who you can buddy with.
Like last time, you can buddy up your match with someone on the other side of the bracket. For example:

Orange Juice VS OZX could become Orange Juice and Awbawlisk vs OZX and Bluebrawl, in which all 4 contestants are fighting to stay in. It could also become Orange Juice and Awbawlisk vs OZX and Cvideo, in which it would only count for Orange Juice and OZX. However, it could not become Orange Juice and Sora vs OZX and Super Raveman. Extra players outside the tourney can be added at any time.

ONE MORE THING: Since the feedback for randomly selected game modes was positive, you can play the selected mode for a bonus. When you win on this mode, report back and a bonus will be selected. Randomly. Classes implies your choice of KY or YD. Instagib/buckshot are up to you.

SORA VS RAVEMAN: CLASSES TDM
