Pokemon Grassroots - Quest to show up KD

Current gameplan: Don't pull a DonutYoshi
Pokemon Grassroots
is
will be a Pokeymans game made in RPGMakerXP. Groundbreaking.
The story opens with the player, the champion of a different region, visiting an underdeveloped region with no league presence. Your job is to explore the area as a new trainer would and recruit the sparse local trainers as gym leaders. However, there are some people not so accepting of a central government in the region...
Current progress includes a map of the region (to be posted on Monday once I have access to a computer with the file) and a storyboard including the events of most cities throughout the game.
A few things we need:
(click to show/hide)
For all positions, having RPGMakerXP is preferable, as it can be used as a reference to see what format resources should be in. Dropbox is also preferable, but some roles can simply zip up files en masse and send when appropriate.
How you get RPGMakerXP is your own problem (cough), but it's on Steam for $25 or a temporary trial version is available from the developer's website. Dropbox is free up to 2GB, more than we'll need.
Disclaimer: Music will probably be ripped from Youtube barring riots in favor of other options.
Manager: (Most needed)
(click to show/hide)
- Pretty much what it says on the tin. Determine what needs to be made, perform as an arbiter and recruiter.
Dropbox required, RPGMakerXP very much so preferred
Mapper: (Most needed)
(click to show/hide)
- Produce concepts for maps and areas. These can be generic themes or specific blueprints.
RPGMakerXP strongly preferred, as implementation of maps (without events) is very simple (and doing it personally probably helps you produce something closer to your artistic vision)
Graphic Artist: (Will be needed later on)
(click to show/hide)
- Make sprites for characters, objects, etc. Pokemon Essentials' graphical style is Gen 3 on the overworld and Gen 4 in-battle, so sprites and other materials should go by these styles. Can edit pre-existing stock sprites if desired, ability to make tilesets preferred but is ultimately not needed for a first release. May also end up designing characters wholly.
Balancer:
(click to show/hide)
- Determine appropriate levels and XP curves for different areas in the game under multiple circumstances, what Pokemon should appear both on routes or with trainers, what items/TMs the player should receive throughout the game, etc.
Dropbox required to have reference to current game specifications and ability to automatically send updates (99% of this job can be done via editing of text files so RPGMakerXP not needed)
Book Cooker:
(click to show/hide)
- Generally a series of odd jobs. Convert artwork, music, and other raw resources into formats used by RPGMakerXP, rip and loop music, and other upkeep tasks.
Dropbox required.
Graphic/sound editing software probably required.
Programmer:
(click to show/hide)
- Stir together all the maps, graphics, and storyboard events in RPGMakerXP. Please note that no actual programming experience is required, all development is done via "events" on a map screen with task-by-task instructions (so knowledge of general computation is required, but is generally quick to learn), or by editing text files with relevant data.
RPGMakerXP obviously required, Dropbox required to ensure files are always up to date.
Beta Tester:
(click to show/hide)
Don't get your hopes up for this position, it won't be open until the game is theoretically completed and in alpha, and only if we're under-staffed at that point.
If you're interested in helping post here (including a skype username preferably, but not required) and/or spam me on skype

Will the art-style be taken from one of the other Pokemon games, or will you be creating your own tilesets and sprites? I noticed on the Graphic Artist thing it said it would edit, but it's a little unclear to me.

Pokemon Essentials' graphical style is Gen 3 on the overworld and Gen 4 in-battle, so sprites should go by these styles. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll edit the OP accordingly.

I'd be interested in assisting with general balance / spice of life routing, if you're looking for workers in that field. I could help out with sprite design as well if need be, but I place no trust in my ability to do such.
