question of making megaman music... + poll
«

I have been thinking about making music with stages that im working on, but I can't decide to try out making remixes of 8-bit music, or to keep the regular sounding 8-bit music. :?
My thoughts of differences:
origonal
I think that mabe i should keep the origonality of the megaman 8-bit music by keeping just 4 instruments; although this could make it hard for me to find a well sounding pattern as im limited then.
heres an example:
remixed
I would prefer this one because I have a wider vriatie of instrument channels to work with, making the music sound more profesional; although it could kill the origonal music style of the megaman 8-bit franchise.
heres an example:
so there should be a poll above. 2 choices of 4 are allowed, you can change your mind on any of them, and if you can, comment why / how come I should do the style of music.
Edit: before people get confused, I did NOT make these arrangments! these are just
EXAMPLES!!

I've always favored the original 2a03 sound, guess you could probably tell by the name anyway haha. Both sound good, doing both wouldn't hurt but doing the 2a03 vs the VRC7 would be better seeing as how that's what the games used.

I'd say keep the original just because of all of the other music in that style.

Welp, the original NES soundtracks all used the (according to MD-2a03) 2a03 sound synthesizer, so if you're going to make something for the general public, it's probably a good idea to keep with that tradition. It might be neat to toss remixed versions of your music in a side-WAD, though, if you really want the Nintendo Memory Management Control 5/Konami Virtual Rom Controller 6/7 remixes to go with your stages.
That's my two cents on the matter.

The newer one sounds like Megaman 9/10 rather than old NES. Which TBH I prefer. They both sound oldschool, but ones a little better :P

Boy, tough call here. Honestly, I fell in love with your second one (perhaps because I've listened to the original version so much, a remix is a nice change of pace), but I feel that if you really want a more authentic NES sound, the 2a03 is the way to go.

First one, all of the 8-bit games use only the 4 instruments, why shouldn't you?

i don't think it really matters! i know that the nes games didn't use as many instruments, but with more it gets you pumped up to fight!

Well actually...
First = More authentic
Second = Sounds better.
I'd still go for the second.

You could still do a remix using only the 2a03 (with DPCM) to make it "authentic NES" but using techniques that are more in line with Konami's games.
