So the hard drive was fucked up about two years ago after I pushed the entire machine way too hard, just to play TF2. Not enough RAM meant the OS eventually started using some hard drive memory dooheecky that apparently ended up being too intensive on the hard drive, so bad sectors eventually popped up, effectively handicapping the laptop. I was able to get it running for longer thanks to Xubuntu's USB trial, but the hard drive just recently gave in to mechanical failures, which made my laptop completely useless beyond any repair.

Thankfully, nothing of value was there, but it still sucks.
