Thoughts on Firefox's "new" appearance.
« on: March 24, 2011, 11:37:02 PM »
In this topic we discuss Firefox's new appearance.

First things first.

A side-by-side comparison of Chrome and Firefox 4. (in layout breaking fashion)
Left = Chrome, Right = Firefox 4
(click to show/hide)

They are identical. Me being a chrome user, I can't comment much further about Firefox.

Anyone else agree?

I love Firefox and something about Chrome just bugs me.  Therefore, this change annoys me.

HERP IT'S A DERP

Meh, I don't particularly like the new UI. Especially the "Firefox Button" which looks to be a massive screw-you directed to everyone not using Aero. At least you can turn off all the stuff they lifted from Chrome.

You CAN'T revert to the old look though, no matter how hard you try. Sucks ass.

I just went looking for 3.0 again and installed that.

Well, there is an addon that makes more of the UI elements movable, so you can get the UI closer to where you want it.

Oh, and there's a new Book of Mozilla quoting for those that care:

On the bright side, you CAN put the tabs on the bottom, by right clicking above the navigation bar.
Oddly, my Firefox looks like 4, but still resembles 3 [the orange firefox button is missing, the page title is still present]. I guess because my laptop's shell is set to classic windows. After all, the desktop has the dumb chrome look, and it's set to modern.

My biggest complaint is the new add-on manager.
