Hope you have fun watching it. I recorded this at 2 in the morning... so expect my voice to be all quiet and all that.
-
At 3:29, do you leave the texture like that?
Thanks for the tutorial, though. It helps, I can see the sky, but it...glithces up like in the video around 3:41.
-
Just follow the Tutorial and you'll be alright. The skybox viewpoint's z-heighr mustn't be 0.
-
K, thanks. It works now. Can I ask something else? All I need to know is how to set up a pit that takes you somewhere else like in Crystal Man's stage. And I need to know how to set up a teleporter...
-
Just look at any map with it... It's really not hard to find out what you need to know by looking at other maps.

heh, I do this too, always learn the hard way, eh?
-
No... Because looking at how other people do things is the best way to learn this type of stuff.
-
You don't really need to put fireballs in MM8BDM... LOL!
You know, considering all the tutorials you made I might actually make my own maps just for fun... But not on my netbook. I'll wait until my desktop comp has the RAM it needs.
-
I may make a line up of "Getting started with Doom Builder 2: x" tutorials. But I would need to know what people actually need. What I'm thinking is for this:
• Setting up Doom Builder 2.
• Making your first map and saving it to a .pk3.
• Learning about midtextures. (upper and lower unpegged will also be defined here and 3D midtex.)
• Slopes and other line specials. (Doors, transparent lines, line horizon)
• MM8BDM ladders, slippery floors (Just a collection of how Cutmanmike made ladders and slippery floors and other tricks if I can remember them.)

how to get scripts to work
-
Press compile.
-
I think he means how to code ACS scripting, not compiling it. :)
-
I can't figure out how to make a place you can see the sky through :|
-
Do not bump old topics. Look at official maps for help.
-
This is a tutorial topic, I should imagine that bumping it for help on the subject is a completely valid reason to keep it unlocked. ;)

Follow my tutorial video more carefully.
-
Alrighty then. I guess I was wrong then. Thanks for clearing that up for me, Cutty.
-
I think it's funny how you can report Moderators posts.
-
You can report admin posts too. :p To whom they are reported however, I know not.
-
Okay, i know im bumping it, but i need help.
I followed the youtube vid, and i still cant make a skybox.>_>
Help me?
-
Did you even TRY to watch the video? He explained it in a way where even I figured out how to make one.
Hey, I'm not as dumb as you people think. I know there are a few of ya out there.

Yea, i tired...listened to the vid, watched it, BUT it failed. >_>
I think it has somethin to do with sizes.
Edit:dang it forte, I made this a long time ago,in a galaxy far far away..., look at the date sometimes mang!
-
Your tutorial is working great for me, but i have one question.
How do I raise/lower the skybox floor so it levels to the "actual" floor?

Do what I do and copy paste a skybox from another map.

Same way you do it with any other floors.

Oh boy... I know this is old... I know this is dead and gonna be hated for this but... This isn't much of a tutorial. Everything is sped up to save time, however he doesn't stop speeding time up and I to get to it multiple times. He doesn't really say much. I tried to figure out how to take down the walls so the skybox can show, he says little to nothing on it and basically this guy and the rest of the thread are toxic to anyone who didn't get it.
Bottomline... this isn't much help
-
But I already told you how to make a skybox.
Draw a sector outside of the map (apart from it) and give it the textures and stuff you want showing in horizons and skies. Then, place a Skybox Viewpoint object (located in Cameras and Interpolation) in the middle of your skybox and give it a Zheight of at least 8.
Which part of this did you not understand?
-
I got that but the kicker is... how do I see it past the original walls of the main map
-
You mean making the outside of the map seem infinite? Use Line_horizon (Action 9).
-
To elaborate, you need to use the F_SKY1 texture on the sector where you want to see the skybox. After that, just use that Line Horizon property on the walls of the sector using the F_SKY1 texture.
-
OK thanks a lot
