Loading the mod in mm8bdm does nothing, and attempting to open it in SLADE brings up an "unsupported or invalid archive format" error. So currently it's unplayable.

He just explained it to you. If you use a "go with the flow" method, it's going to spiral out of control into absolute garbage. Plan a story out before you do anything.
