Oh God, xCFx, what did you do this time

Infinity Squad casts you and a team of friends as a band of mercenaries with the goal of killing powerful entities and collecting powerful artifacts to aid you in your quests. It's designed with the goal of encouraging teamwork and strategizing with your fellow players and their diverse sets of skills to create a powerful fighting force and take on all comers.

tl;dr: Kill dudes and steal their stuff.

So what does this mod add, exactly?

> Four new classes!
> Two new maps!
> One new boss!
> An Equipment and Loadout system!
> Status Conditions!
> Mayhem, chaos, and death for everyone!

This all seems kind of complicated.

Here, let me break it down for you.

(click to show/hide)

More detailed information can be found in the files, under README.

How do these classes work, anyway?
Each class behaves a bit differently, but follows the same basic formula.

Class Role
Classes are separated into four main roles, separated by their primary strengths. Any class can have properties of any role, but their primary role shows what they're most capable at.
(click to show/hide)
Main Weapon
The weapon in Slot 0 (And what you should be, in theory, holding when you spawn in) is your main weapon. Each main weapon has a main fire, an alt fire, and (in most cases) a few varieties of combo attacks. It pays to spend a bit of time learning how your weapon works before rushing into battle.

Do note that some weapon abilities cost Energy to use. Plan accordingly.

Skills
The weapons bound to slots 1, 2, and 3 are your skills. These typically cost more Energy to use and tend to be a bit more dramatic than your weapon attacks.

Infinity Skill
Over the course of the battle, a special kind of pickup known as Infinity Force may appear on the battlefield. Pick it up and activate it with [Use Item] to use your Infinity Skill!

(click to show/hide)

Infinity Skills are potent boosts, special attacks, or other powerful boons that can help sway the tide of battle if properly used. Be sure to coordinate with your team regarding who to give access to these special attacks.

What's this about equipment?
When you kill the boss, they will drop a piece of loot. This can be anything from a small trinket to a whole new weapon for you to play around with! Pick it up to unlock the gear for future use.

(click to show/hide)

Once you collect a piece of gear, it will be unlocked for all players. Be sure to check the Arming Stations out in the lobby and try out any combinations you like. Do bear in mind that you can only equip one item in each of the three slots (Weapon, Armor, and Accessory), so plan accordingly.

(click to show/hide)

Currently, since Copy Megaman is the only boss available to battle, he'll drop any piece of loot, chosen at random. The plan is that each boss will have their own unique set of drops in the final mod, and further gear will be available through a Forge system which will allow you to exchange duplicate gear for more items.

Status Conditions?
If you've played any RPG on the planet - heck, any game on the planet nowadays - you should know what a status condition is. I've provided a list of the status conditions in this mod below and in the README file within the mod for quick reference.

(click to show/hide)

Do the special attacks seriously tell you how to avoid them?
I figured it may be more convenient for new players to know attack mechanics ahead of time rather than simply blasting them in the face with things they don't know how to avoid. Never fear, however! I've added a CVAR for players who want to experience this mod in a more traditional, experimental style; set cl_longcallouts to "0" or "false" and Special Attack callouts will only display the attack's name. This variable is clientsided, so it should even work online!

Hey, what's up with the graphics?
Frankly, I'm not an artist. This entire mod was assembled by me with the exception of the arenas (provided by MeiValentine) and some assets stolen borrowed from Nido Force (with permission from SmashBro). Anyone willing to lend their talents to this project should definitely hit me up.

Hey, I found a bug!
Glad to hear it! Please inform me as soon as you can, and with as much detail as you can so I can hopefully do that thing where I make it stop happening in the next release. Just make sure it's not on this list here, first.

So what's your plans for the future?

> More bosses!
> More classes!
> More loot!
> A hub!
> Maybe a plot? Who knows!

Anything Goes / $#!% Cutopians Say - The Quote Thread
« on: June 22, 2014, 06:20:05 PM »
Have a scenario in your head, but don't feel like writing out a whole story just for a couple of lines of dialog? Post your quotes here!
This is for characters only. No actual members, please.

Example:
Quote
Annette: "Well, mark me down as scared and horny."
ALEXIS: "I was under the impression that 'horny' was your primary mode of operation."
Annette: "One, that's a quote. Two, that's what the 'and' was for, asswagon."

Forum Games Archive / Ask xColdxFusionx (and friends!)
« on: February 27, 2013, 03:02:43 AM »
Hey! xColdxFusionx here. I'm bored as hell, so ask me questions! ...Oh, I also got some friends in on this, so ask them some too?

Elena here. ...I don't know how I got roped into this, but I guess you can ask me questions. Not like I have anything else to do.

This is ALEXIS. My supervisors have permitted me to answer questions about myself.

Hey, everyone! It's your good friend Alphonse! I've been a bit busy with shows lately, but I'll answer questions when I get some time.

I am Celeste Alaron. I will be accepting questions along with the others here.

(Long story short, ask me and my characters questions!
Now in delicious Tumblr flavor!)

Skins & Bots etc / [Mod...?] Oil Slider Sound Replacement
« on: December 24, 2012, 05:50:15 PM »
Some of the v3a devs were complaining about how they couldn't find a good set of 8-bit sounds for Oil Slider
So I dusted off the ol' Famitracker and did some work.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the most pointless mod I have ever created.

Do you mind if I borrow your computers for a minute? In a figurative sense.

I need as many people as possible to download this and tell me what happens when they try to run it. Specifically, if and when the game crashes. I've gotten various reports from various people, and I want to see if I can find a pattern.

Reports I have recieved:
The game crashes on startup. (most common)
The game crashes when attempting to start an Offline Skirmish.
The game crashes when trying to close.
    The game runs perfectly.

Please tell me what happens so I can fix it up.

Also, consider this a teaser for possible things to come.

Anything Goes / [Etc.] Tarot Cards - What Arcana are you?
« on: July 02, 2012, 08:08:47 PM »
OK, what on Earth is this thread?
This is a personality quiz thread in the vein of the Meyers-Briggs thread that was floating around for a while. Simply take the test, post your results here, then answer the poll so we can tally up who is what.

What are tarot cards, anyway?
Tarot cards are the precursors to modern playing cards, consisting of 78 cards: 4 sets of 14 "Minor Arcana", ranking from Ace to King, and 22 "Major Arcana." Tarot cards were originally used to play specific card games, but were also used by certain groups as a method of divination. The Major Arcana are the more famous of the two Arcanas, often used as symbols in media, particularly when relating to the mystical.

The Quiz is here.

===

I'll start off with my results:

You Scored as XIII: Death
Death is probably the most well known Tarot card - and also the most misunderstood. Most Tarot novices would consider Death to be a bad card, especially given its connection with the number thirteen. In fact this card rarely indicates literal death.Without "death" there can be no change, only eventual stagnation. The "death" of the child allows for the "birth" of the adult. This change is not always easy. The appearance of Death in a Tarot reading can indicate pain and short term loss, however it also represents hope for a new future.

XIII: Death             75%
I - Magician            63%
XIX: The Sun           63%
II - The High Priestess   56%
IV - The Emperor     50%
VI: The Lovers        44%
XVI: The Tower      44%
0 - The Fool           44%
XV: The Devil         38%
XI: Justice             31%
X - Wheel of Fortune   31%
III - The Empress    31%
VIII - Strength        25%

(OOC Explanation: Recently got my hands on the rules for Mutants and Masterminds. And then I got really bored, so I decided to make Cutstuff Wars characters using the character creation system. If you understand them, constructive criticism would be appreciated. If you don't know the system, check it out and/or just stare at the pretty numbers.

All characters will be at the default Power Level of 10 unless I feel the need to bump them up or down based on story.)

What are you planning this time...

It's a game about world conquest in MM8BDM form.
...Really, that's the best explanation I can come up with. I just got bored and made up some rules and now I'm hosting them out.

How exactly does this work?

There are four types of characters in the game: Bosses, Heroes, Villains, and Civilians. Players can sign up as either a Hero or a Villain (via PM to hide alignments), or choose to stay a Civilian. Teams score points through 'schemes', matches between heroes and villains in a duel for influence over Cutstuff.

Bosses
Only the Game Master can play as the Boss. The Boss is also a key part of the game; their 'schemes' are the key to both teams scoring points. Bosses have a passive skill (a passive bonus for the Boss and/or his/her minions), an active skill (a special power the boss can use to aid himself/herself), and a scheme method (objectives for both teams during a scheme).

Heroes

Heroes are charged with preventing the completion of the Boss's schemes. Upon signing up, heroes receive a “skill” to aid them in their defense of Cutstuff's precious servers. Whenever a scheme is successfully thwarted by a hero (or heroes), the Hero team gains 100 points.

Villains

Villains are the masses of the evil army, tasked with helping the boss succeed in his/her schemes. Like the heroes, Villains gain a “skill” to aid them in their conquest. If a Villain aids a successful scheme, the Villain team gains 100 points.

Civilians

Even if they are not formally signed up as a hero or villain, “civilians” can participate as if they are a member of either side. If a civilian successfully thwarts a scheme, the Heroes gain 25 points. If a civilian aids a successful scheme, the Villains gain 25 points.

Where do I sign up?

Send me a PM with the same topic as this thread containing the team you'd like to sign up for. Be prepared to be teamswitched if teams get unbalanced, though.

Anything Goes / [Etc.] Those v1 Days
« on: April 18, 2012, 02:14:49 AM »
I was just in this show recently, and I can't get this song out of my head.
So I came up with some lyrics.

(click to show/hide)

Do you remember the good days of Cutstuff?
The servers were always so full.
Vanilla was fresh and exciting.
The fanbase was never too cruel.
We played o'er the network together
And everything 'round us was fine.
Now the rooms are dead and bare,
No joi de vivre anywhere,
Et maintenat the critics moan and whine.

Those v1 days we used to know,
Where have they gone? Where did they go?
Et bien, raise your berets
To those v1 days.

Do you remember those frantic Deathmatches?
The excitement of Capture the Flag?
That silly Chaos Generator,
and all those great times that we had?
It's funny, but since CutmanMike left,
We've gone to the other extreme.
No one joins the servers now.
They'd just get votekicked anyhow.
This game feels like it's just the stuff of dreams.

Those v1 days we used to know,
Where have they gone? Where did they go?
Et bien, raise your berets
To those v1 days.

It's funny, but since CutmanMike left,
We've gone to the other extreme.
Perhaps it can still be revived.
Perhaps the fanbase can survive.
But now it just feels like the stuff of dreams.

Those v1 days we used to know,
Where have they gone? Where did they go?
Et bien, raise your berets
To those v1 days.

...I feel like I'm slowly going insane...

DECORATE and ACS Modifications / [Etc.] Decide the Fate of Tanks!
« on: April 08, 2012, 04:19:25 PM »
You guys have been recently complaining about the E-Pieces in CSCC, so I've decided to put the future of all the tanks in CSCC up to a vote. This is Community Classes, after all.

W-Tank Options:
W-Tank: Restores the current weapon instantly.
Classic W-Tank: Regenerates the current weapon over a second or two.
Energy Balancer: Picking up ammo while the buster is equipped will refill whatever needs it the most.
Remove W-Tanks: Remove W-Tanks altogether.

E-Tank Options:
E-Tank: Restores 100 HP instantly.
Classic E-Tank: Regenerates 100 HP over a second or two.
E-Pieces: The current option. Collect 4 for an E-Tank!
Sub-Tank: Collect health pickups to fill it up. Use it to restore saved health!
Remove E-Tanks: Remove E-Tanks altogether.

M-Tank Options:
M-Tank: Restores 100 HP and all weapons instantly.
Classic M-Tank: Regenerates HP and ammo over a second or two.
Extra Life: When your health dips below 10%, you instantly regain all HP and energy.
Energy Balancer: Picking up ammo while the buster is equipped will refill whatever needs it the most.
Remove M-Tanks: Remove M-Tanks altogether.

Maps / [Maps] xCFx's Pile of Really Old Maps
« on: March 26, 2012, 08:34:55 PM »
After looking through the wiki, I've decided to make a topic for all my ridiculously old maps so some people might actually take a look at them.

Volcanic Mines
For a scrapped map pack. Ironically, my personal favorite original map.

Corrupted Drain
For a scrapped map pack. This place is huge and a bit tricky to get around, but it could be useful for something.

Scrap Metal Refinery
For a scrapped map pack. Probably my least favorite map; I got really lazy with the "upstairs" section...

Block Fort
A perfect re-creation of Block Fort from Mario Kart 64. Complete with randomized weaponry!

Simple Grifball Court
The precursor to Wager Matches. One Flag CTF at its silliest.
Note: Top Spin should not be used on people about to pick up the flag. Apparently that breaks things.

Tell me what you guys think about these and I might end up making more.

MM8BDM Discussion / [“Tournament”] Cutstuff Assassins
« on: March 12, 2012, 09:35:11 PM »
OK, What is this madness...

Take a  look at this. Now imagine this in MM8BDM. Across multiple servers.

What are the rules?

Each player is assigned a target. If you kill your target at all when playing MM8BDM, post a screenshot of the kill and one of the scoreboard here along with the server and time you were playing. You will then be assigned a new target, and the player you killed will be eliminated. Rinse and repeat until one person is left standing.

Players who don't play MM8BDM online for long periods of time will be kicked.

Please try to stick to one name while playing Cutstuff Assassins. Makes it less work for me to keep track of who's who.

Sounds fun! Where do I sign up?

Post here if you want to join! Preferably in bold or colored font.

MM8BDM Discussion / So now that we have 3D Floors...
« on: August 25, 2011, 03:10:11 PM »
Is Airman's stage going to get remade with 3d floors instead of cheating with textures?

I'm not saying it has to be, I'm just saying that would be the most logical conclusion. To me, anyway.
