Does the entire map have to fit in the 2048 by 2048 area, or just the playing area?  The entire playing area in my map is exactly 2048 by 2048, but adding windows and decorations (inaccessible to the players) takes it beyond that limit.
Because of my skybox, my map breaks the 2048 by 2048 area rule but the playing area doesn't. Does this mean I'm diaqualified?

1) Are spikes allowed?

2) If they are, how do I make them deadly?

1) I don't see why they wouldn't be.

2) Just just open up one of the official maps in Doom Builder to see how it's done. There is only 1 known Doomer who actually cares if someone looks at the source of their mod (Lol SST).

And where would I find the official maps to look up in Doom Seeker? I can't find them anywhere in my documents or downloads.

By the way, if you're either lazy or don't know how to make spikes deadly, you could have just said so or not said anything. You didn't have to give me the same answer everyone else has handed me.

You have to extract the maps with slumped!

If you use scripts, add a script from one of the official maps with holes so it says "fell too far" on the sector with the spikes! The spikes themselves don't hurt you, it's the floor that does!

Nevermind about my second question. I figured it out thanks to a message from Yellow Devil in game despite the others' attempts to bury it in useless information.

Of course, renaming .pk3 to .zip then extracting the maps you need. Then open them in Doom Builder. It's so complicated that you must throw a hissy fit and complain that I'm not spoonfeeding you how exactly to make "spikes work".

Doom, all I wanted was the answer to one question from someone, not something. It wasn't like I was asking you how to make an entire map. I needed to know how to make one function work. Instead, you chose to give me the runaround even after I told you at least twice your method led me to a dead end. Yellow Devil, on the other hand, just gave me "115" and I figured it out after I still couldn't get a simple reply. If you can't answer a question directly, you don't know the answer. I'm tempted to call you out on unsportsmanlike behavior since you have an entry, but that would take more time than there is left in this contest and wouldn't be worth the trouble. Understand that I am still new to map making and the only map-based informational topic I could dig anything I needed out of was CutmanMike's beginner course. I found nothing else, so I asked and ended up right back where I started.

Had you not answered at all, I would have been content to wait for Mike. I only asked you further because you gave an answer that I needed clarification for and you ended up giving me crap and dragging said crap into the boards. Next time, I'll wait for someone who will be straightforward.
