My thoughts? Who cares.
97d is so horribly outdated. 97e supports many of the features that (G)ZDoom currently has. Which for something like GvH, that can only be vastly improved upon with use of features 97d is too outdated to provide. For instance, on my own project, there is no way I want to limit my self to 97d just to keep skulltag compatibility (even though its only a matter of time before 97e comes out). That is my choice and if Cutty wants to make the new GvHv2 work on only the beta, then it's his choice.
However I understand there are people who don't want to replace 97d just to play wad/pk3's that use 97e. So I will leave you with an easy method to use both with IDESE.
Step 1: Know your skulltag folder location.
(for me, c:doomskulltag)
Step 2: Download 97d (or if you know what your doing, just pick out the needed files). Put all that in
ANOTHER folder. For example, Skulltag 97e
(for me, c:doomskulltag97e)
Step 3: Download 97e, replace the 97d files you would have placed in the Skulltag97e folder.
Note: if you only download 97e and put in the folder, you would be still lacking some required files, if you know enough about skulltag, you could manually copy and paste them from your current folder, but if you don't, just make a fresh download and overide that)
Optional Step: If you want to quickly get your game configurations over, just copy and paste the .ini file from the 97d skulltag folder to the 97e folder.
Step 4: Open IDESE from the 97d skulltag folder. Go into directories. One of these is programs. Click that. From there press the ... button, go into the skulltag 97e folder, and use that skulltag.exe.
Congratulations, you can now easily switch between 97d and 97e.
If a sever is using 97d, just repeat Step 4 and change the program back to the 97d skulltag.exe.
Now, stop making excuses to not play the betas
