Power Rangers were the fuckin' tops back when we were kids tho. You can't deny that.
Eh, for the longest time I had no fuckin' idea what it even was. I convinced myself that it was some sort of ancient anime at some point, along the lines of Gatchaman (long story as to why I even knew what that was when I was 6). Every day at primary school, it was all 'Power Rangers' this, 'Megazord' that. I had no sodding idea what any of it meant. It certainly sounded like a bloody cartoon with all this nonsense about giant robots fighting exploding fishman monsters who were sent by a crazy old woman who lived on the moon because she hated a giant glowing face in a glass tube. I mean just read that sentence! What the fuck?!

And then when I did discover what it actually was...

I dunno.
We always could get a good laugh at the cheesy villain of the week though.
...this was all I could watch it for, because I immediately thought it to be utter shit with some obvious and horrible difference in picture quality between the 'high school' bits and the 'giant rubber suit crushes a city' bits (I didn't know the reason behind this until many years later). For the life of me I can't see how or why it got so popular given that every episode was the same bloody thing with only a slightly different-shaped lump of latex trashing stuff, but that's life.

In C&C: Red Alert I still frequently build huge forces of tanks and aircraft and send them around the map, even though the enemy is stuck in one corner with a tiny base & no credits, and can be wiped out easily by only a few infantry.

World of Tanks. Oh god this has got hold and won't let go. "Just one more game", I tell myself at 2AM, "one more game and I'll call it a day". But one game turns into two. Then ten. Then twenty. Next thing I know it's 5AM.

"Fuck."

As far as the Megadrive goes, Shinobi III had some of the best music on the system.

From a character design point of view? None. As silly as some of the designs may be, it gives most RM's a unique character/appearance.
Stage design and bossfights though? Well...

1. Elec Man -- LADDERS. LADDERS EVERYWHERE. And Mega Man climbs them so slowly. The fight is close to pot-luck too if you're not at full energy.
2. Quick Man -- No fucking pattern to his movements at all, and contact damage is a bitch. Not really 'difficult', just an annoying encounter. The level is less of an issue (at least compared to the generic horror stories you read about those Force Beams), but still not my idea of fun. One false move and HAHAHA BACK YOU GO (and no, I don't use Time Stopper during the stage).
3. Gemini Man -- Glitchy Disappearing Son Of A Bitch Man. The constant blasting away at those shitty (tad)Pole robots is a chore too, although I won't complain about the constant item drops.
4. Dust Man -- Just stands there sucking in several ways, resulting in a dull fight. His stage is nowhere near as harsh as it was in MMIII (GB) though, which is nice.
5. Wave Man -- iehoiaghkjahkjfahgkahkjn
6. Plant Man -- Not really the RM that's the problem, but some of the jumps are bullshit. Especially if you're trying to show off over emulator netplay.

It's been way too long since I played MM7, and I'm not really familiar with 8, 9 or 10. Woe is me!

There are also a couple spots in that stage where enemy placement can make it impossible to not get hit if you don't know what's coming.
Just like every stage in every Mega Man game ever?

Why does 8BDM or Mike have any haters? What has it done to the Doom community?
It's not really the Doom community that has any issue, it's a bunch of Skulltag/Zandronum PvP 'pros' that cry delicious salty tears over the whole thing. As far as they're concerned, user-made content such as GvH and 8BDM is 'stealing potential players' from the competitive scene. "The competitive scene is dying! Fuck 8BDM for being popular!", they all whine.

Yeah. Never mind the fact that the general stubbornness and pig-headed nature of the 'pro' section is the reason why the competitive scene has been shakier than a three-legged donkey with Parkinson's disease for years now -- when almost every scrim is CTF on the same mapset, time and time again, of course things are going to stagnate! Of course new players are going to be turned away when things are taken too seriously! It's the same reason why Duels have practically gone the way of the dinosaurs too; so-called pros refused to leave their comfort zones and play any maps other than DWANGO5 MAP01 or that godawful GREENWAR thing, and the playerbase for Duel mode dwindled down to almost nothing because everyone just got sick of that shit. New maps were being created all the time, but oh no, we can't have that. Pros would have to learn new layouts and -- gasp! -- they wouldn't be able to follow the same routine for every match! Jesus Christ, how horrifying.

The overwhelming majority of players, regardless of their skill, eventually get bored of going through the motions, playing the same old shit against the same old people all the time. Newbies in particular will get bored very quickly when they're constantly at a major disadvantage (playing against someone who knows the map inside-out), and soon wander off to greener pastures where they can just have fun. Sometimes it's other gamemodes like Co-op, Invasion or Survival, sometimes it's completely new content such as 8BDM. It's no surprise that gameplay mods and co-op modes have an ever-increasing playerbase; there's a near-endless flow of new maps and other content that keeps the experience relatively fresh. New players join and decide to stick around for this reason.

tl;dr the hate is laughably misdirected and the competitive scene only has itself to blame for strangling the life out of 'srs' PvP in Zandronum. Fuck 'em.

and yes there IS an element of luck because the damn things do move randomly.
But they're so slow with moving that it really doesn't affect any Magnet Beam running outside of possibly having to create a few extra platforms. Seriously. I understand that without the MB it can be a bastard to get past with all the random non-pattern bullshit, but when you can just make your own path it's more a case of being unlucky if the Foot Holders themselves manage to screw you over.

I've got back into playing the original Diablo in SP and MP, and some of the mods for it. It's still one of those games that really can become luck-based by about the fifth or sixth floor; if the game's giving you shit items and throwing awful monster combinations in your direction, then no amount of personal experience will help. It's time to restart and hope you have better luck with items and equipment second time around.

What's worse in this regard is multiplayer; while it's all well and good having four of you running around fighting the zombies, monsters and demons of the labyrinth, the fact that friendly fire's present at all times means that you can accidentally cause each other to die horribly with even the slightest mistake, adding to the aforementioned difficulty with some exceptionally frustrating results. Four players with crap items? Yeah, have fun recovering all that shit you just threw everywhere on dying when it's surrounded by hordes of goatmen.

There's one mod (The Hell) that removes this accidental TK'ing nonsense (certain spells excepted) and lets you keep your gear when you snuff it, but this small plus is offset by some needlessly cruel difficulty bumping (enemies are generally meatshields, won't flinch unless you do obscene damage, but they will go ahead with stunlocking you once they land a hit) and the absolute worst item generator since the beginning of time. You can't even sell that shit for slow profit gains back in town either, meaning you're potentially stuck with the shittiest weapon for several sessions while you waste all your gold on respawning.

And don't even get me started on the second and third difficulties.

Oh? Ah well, never mind. I still have my PhotoBucket account so I'm not too bothered.

Just uploaded this to ImageShack... I'm also in the UK. What is this nonsense about paying?

If you jump to 'A' from the platform and hold up, you'll emerge on the ladder at 'B'. I'd never even considered doing this before, even though looking back it should have been obvious.

15
Oh right, of course. 'Lucky'. Maybe you're actually just bad at the game then, because I can get across that gap using the above method pretty much any time I play.
