General Gaming Discussion / Re: Final fantasy discussion

I completed V and VI. I was well on my way in VII but when I got halfway through (I actually just got Yuffie on the team) a friend saved over my game file.

Sad times were had.

I also agree that I've always had a heck of a time playing through these games, as most of the time when I pick up a turned-based RPG I have a hard time staying interested in it for the whole play-through (and these games are typically really long). Some games are really good at keeping the monotony at bay (like Baten Kaitos with it's quirky card system) but FF (along with a few others) basically defined the genre, so it doesn't really employ any of these tricks until later on the series.

Not sure what I loved about V and VI, though. I think in V it was the job system and in VI it was the story and music, the darker tone. Really great games.

No, no, his reasoning was for a more recent development. He wanted to play the game for the Wily Castle stage, it was recently announced the stage would be in both 3DS and Wii U versions.

Eh, I googled things.

The most expensive submarine in the world costs $2.3 Billion and is actually a submersible yacht.

Then, there's the Tianhe-2 supercomputer in China.
http://news.sciencemag.org/technology/2 ... -1-ranking

It costs $3 Billion.
The Tianhe-2 runs at 33.86 petaflops which is about twice as powerful as the Titan (a supercomputer from USA that was ranked #2 last year and costs $945 million).

Petaflops.

Yeah, I apologize for that I was totally gaping out back then and missed the entire post just before me. Your thing looks pretty cool, too, Blu. The main character sprite is kinda' I Wanna Be The Guy style, at least in part. Is this a Mario hack or did you whip this up yourself?

Well, that looked lovely and fun until the last couple of images.

There aren't many games that get as fast as F-Zero but I love me quite a few futuristic racers. I'd recommend the XG series, Cyber Speedway and the Wipeout games if you haven't tried 'em.

Arcade/Space racers don't seem to be a big thing anymore, it really is kind of a shame. I think another F-Zero would be really well-received.

I'll uh...break it down a bit. Since there's probably some confusion. Here's what happened;

Captain Falcon was revealed as a returning Veteran.

Robin was revealed as a Newcomer, with both male/female options. He or she is a Tactician class character and represented the Player.

Lucina was revealed as a female option to Marth. (Remember how there's a male Wii Fit Trainer? That's not a clone or rip-off character, it's basically an alternate costume). This works out well because she masqueraded as Marth to begin with.

Chrom is a Final Smash. It was still pretty cool of them to make room for him.

You know...I like the way they handled it. I started getting negative again with the prospect of too many sword-swingers but Robin looks like a fun and unique character. It's also nice to see some of the magic from FE making it's way in. I really gotta' stop being so doubtful of everything.

There is still literally nothing I dislike about the upcoming Smash.

I'm fairly sure this logic only applies to FE characters, (from what I've seen there isn't really much variety between them) and even then why do we still use this logic?

Well, swords really are just as diverse as any fighting style and I guess with my logic people might as well complain about there being too many hand-to-hand fighters. It just bothers me that the weapon is a mainstay of fantasy protagonists and is generally overused. Typically, these guys are the only swordsmen in their respective games but when Smash brings them all together it's swords everywhere.

Swords are cool but we got Link, Toon Link, Marth, Ike, the Mii swordsman, the possibility of Meta-Knight, maybe Chrom or Shulk..

It's just...ehhhh.

Also, 30 minutes or so to go. Kinda' excited.

Yep, it does sound like we're getting a newcomer. We'll probably get a veteran reveal or two or three as well.

I wish I could speculate on who we're getting but I really can't. Honestly, though, I kinda' hope it's not what we have left in the gematsu leak. The Choir Kids look rather bland and Chrom and Shulk are more sword dudes.

Ray MK and Poo are perfectly awesome ideas, I wouldn't mind seeing either of them make the cut.

Which means there's still a pretty awesome potential class floating around. Not really my business, I guess, but I did enjoy the novelty of playing as the Yellow Devil.

Rejected / Re: [Suggestion] Double-Click charge weapons

I need this. Dude, I really need this. I don't know how to properly explain just how much I need this. This is one of those small things that nobody thinks of that can make a bigger impact and it really would add more depth to the charge weapons.

More Pharaoh Shot, Praise the Sun!

You could make it so that the cuffs just stop the robber from moving or fighting, that would make any map viable (though the visual of a bunch of robbers cramped in a cell is pretty funny). I also can't help but think there'd be some serious tele-fragging issues with any of the caught robbers.

That's my two-sense here.

The lack of voice acting probably has a lot to do with the lack of a voice actor. Being (probably?) Japanese it's likely they don't have any VO's in other languages yet. That's my theory.

Only for a day, huh? Better make it a good one, then!
Why just me? I'd make everyone God. Literally, the best party ever. We'll see what hasn't been seen on Earth, mess with Time and Space, do Limbo in Limbo, check out a metal concert in Hell, make some proton packs to screw with the ghosts and then wind down in Heaven, chilling in the clouds and stuff.

It's super cheesy and idealist I know, but tell me that wouldn't rock.
