BUGGER MY SERVER!!!
« on: August 18, 2011, 08:30:03 PM »
Recently I'm havin' problems where I can NOT host my server what-so-ever.
I have my port forwarded correctly, however it still will not show up on Doomseeker.
I do have it to broadcast to the server list.

I'm stumped, and I can not figure out any other way to fight this bugger...

By the way, why is there always some connection timeout?

Vavoom (another source port) doesn't have a master server so it's set to ping localhost instead, which will result in a connection timeout. As for the server, try enabling upnp on your router / computer and run the server with the -upnp command. It works for some people (including me) but not all.

For the longest time I had the same problem BUT it turns out it WAS appearing on Doomseeker, just that I couldn't see it appear on there. Others could. Might want to check that first.

Next, make sure your internal ip hasn't changed (run -> cmd -> ipconfig)

Nope, doesn't look like it.
For the record, whenever I host, my server always uses my internal IP.

That usually means the port isn't forwarded. Not sure what to try, some routers are just liers.

You've probably done this already, but have you adjusted the firewall settings within the router? That can often stop this stuff from working, as it did when I was first trying to server host. It's that little "Inbound/Outbound traffic" thing.
