After checking all three hundred and twenty-something topics, I'm amazed that this question hasn't been brought up yet. The question being: What brought you to MM8BDM in the first place? This topic will serve as a way for people to tell their stories about how they heard about the game and how their first time went. We might get some good stories, we might not.
Example (also true story):
On the day of July 16 (or was it 14th? Whatever.) 2010, Vardoc uploaded a video entitled "Random gaming: Megaman deathmatch". In the video, he showed gameplay of both needle man's stage and MM3 dr wily 1. Intrigued, I decided to download the whole thing from Vardoc's download page. Being too lazy to put it in another folder other than "downloads", I immediately start it up. Right off the bat, I get my ass handed to me on Metal man's. But of course, with enough time and playing, I got better. I soon met Blaze and Dragoon, and the rest they say, is history. Fuck that cliche.

What brought me here? I've been a member in Cutstuff for ages. (Member 37 or so). So I've been here since MM8BDM first started it's creation.

My exact reasons for being in Cutstuff was because I liked it here. Skulltag's community...is well Skulltag's community.

Well..

One day(I believe it was November 20th or so, 2010) I was just wandering around the house aimlessly like I usually do, when I ran into my brother Jafar. He was over at the computer playing MM8BDM. I had never seen the game before and was very fascinated. So I sat down and watched him play single player. But then he went and played Roboenza online. I was very excited to know that this was an online game. Jafar told me how the roboenza game mode worked, and I was once again very interested.

In the following day, I started up MM8BDM and played some Roboenza online.
I still remember Ashley being one of the first people I played with. After that I played some DM. I was hooked ever since.

I joined the actual forums a couple of days later. Before I knew it, I was making skins for everyone and helping with custom expansions!

Last September a friend was telling me about there being this Megaman fps, at first I was skeptical about it...... but then....... It was MM8BDM SGC demo for the next few weeks. I fought almost nothing but bots since I could almost never find a server around 3am... I lol'd at the old magnets, fled in terror from the quick'rang and wondered what was so great about the metal blade....
Played it within the second hour of v1a's release...and got destroyed by Fupoo... then went to beat the campaign..
I was blown away.

I've been lurking on Cutstuff pretty much since it was created. I knew about MM8BDM since the day Mike announced he was working on it on the ZDoom forums. To be honest, I thought it would end up unfinished like most of the ZDoom projects I've seen. Even so, I always checked for updates when I could, an 8-bit DM was really intriguing even though I'm not that much of a Megaman fan. Then I checked Cutstuff and realized everyone was helping with skins and sprites. It was pretty awesome everyone was contributing to it and I even thought I myself could help, but I preferred to lurk for a while longer and check every now and then for updates.

Then after the months long wait the fated day arrived. A demo was promised. It was something I guess, so I just went back to playing GvH to pass the time. The rest is pretty much what you would expect. It was released some months(?) later, I started working on skins for fun and decided to join the forums since it always seemed like an awesome community to be in.

Actually I was her a long time ago when mike said he wasn't going to do 7-10 but we could still make the skins, i think that's a pretty big hint

I'd been a fan of MM8BDM for a rather long time, thanks to a good friend back at Exploding Rabbit.  The second I heard about custom content, I jumped on board.

I found out about mm8bdm through a completly unrelated game wip called megaman arena. it was (and probably still is) a unfinished first person megaman shooter. well i liked megaman games, so i googled megaman fps.

when i found out there was a doom mod, i downloaded. after a while of playing, and lurking here on the forum, i joined because... well... i really don't know why I joined.

Jeez I better finish some of my weapons and classes
