Anyone still sore from Santa?

I played GVH Saturday and there were like 5 Santa players kicking ass. Seems like people have finally gotten the hang of him, but remember when people whined for days over the fact he was the new Cold Demise class?

This is, by far, my most favourite complaint I've ever had about GVH. I can't remember where who said this:

Are you really high or something? I seen Total conversions like Xmas doom. But seriously, can you get anymore child-like with the selections?

Doom is supposed to be serious, but this is turning out to be an expansion that now has 65% in favor of calling it a Joke expansion. Forget the new ghoul class... I'm too busy laughing at Santa Claus getting gored into bloody bits like a sugar-plum fairy getting waxed by my chainsaw.

Cutman, you make me spit in on your feet in disgust, and you make veteran FPS players laugh at your effort. Good mod, but don't get carried away with more joke ideas. We got people like Terry to do that and he already made and obnoxious joke mod of GVH!

Anyway, have we gotten over him yet? Or do you still see him and think "ugh"?

I've just tuned Santa out at this point.  I figure if hes going to stay, might as well accept him.

Disgrace. Honestly. Ghostbuster was actually acceptable, but Santa? Good god, it's March, dude!

Santa should only have to fight in the Christmas time, and at that : people can still use his wad to play in mid year.

If there was at least something more serious, like a sort of Snow-Soldier, or giving a new human to us that carries abilities not even similar to any other class would've made it nothing close to this.

But what Ivory said, if Santa is just gonna sit around and get fat on those milk and cookies, why should we just keep shunning him...

Also, Cutman, make sure you aren't too far from those Weight Watchers, you sound dangerously close to the real Santa.

Doom? Serious? I am sorry, but unless you started from like the PSX/N64 ports like I did; there is no way in God's blue earth you can take this game seriously. Bruiser brothers? Pink Demons?

My favorite break of immersion is the original music. I don't give a fuck what the oldschool fans believe, but there is no ambiance in recycled midi rock songs played in a cheesy tempo. It's not serious, it's silly. I can literally feel like I am playing a game, not getting deep into it.

I kind of agree with White on this, but it's ultimately your call. You know some of us don't care for the guy after December, but it's better than Duke. I am with what Ivory said, but I do occasionally play with Santa to show up other players.

Someone has to take people down a peg.

I was thinking of making a skin for the santa class and completely give him a new look, but unfortunately I can't replace the weapon sprites using skins.

Of course, I could replace him completely and turn him into something else that could use the exact same attacks, just with different sprites. But I'm almost 100% people would complain and want santa back. Maybe a poll is in order...

If I did that though, what should he become? Stars = fireballs that rain fire? Holly = ninja traps? Snowgun = uhhhhhh potato gun?!

I know. Cyborg 2010. Cyborg 2010 doesn't have a jet pack, he has speed instead. He never runs out of normal plasma. But if he wanted to overclock his plasma gun to fire massive plasma balls then he can. But he can only fire 5 times without breaking his gun.

He can also splash very hot oil at ghouls or leak it onto the floor?
He can drop some of his spare bolts that hurt like a bitch if you step on them?
He can also drop his plugs from the UK that do 10000 damage if you step on them?


He also has pointy stones he can throw or drop.



C'mon Cutman. You know robots(in this case cyborgs) are awesome. More robot things for GVH! C'mon!

I see what you mean the further I think about it. I think any class replacement will make someone complain, and not because of santa but because no matter what you put someone will have something wrong with it.

I say Ninja for the stars. You can give him high jump! OR OR OR! You can put in Revolver Ocelot! I would never leave GVH if you did.

A Liquid is fine too.. but not LiquidOcelot.

I can also do his voice from MGS2 Sons of Liberty if you intend on doing that. I can't do his original MGS voice though ;[

Honestly, he's just Santa. Big whoop. I suppose if Santa is changed, then Frostbite has to to be changed too. I see Santa as big a joke as I see a screaming face laughing, a whispering shadow saying "Over here!", a giant skull saying "Om nom nom", another giant skull puking, or a Cyborg sounding like a cutesy little girl. I don't see Santa as a joke, I see him as a threat, like the other 4 Humans. So what if he's Christmas-y. Does it really matter? Is it REALLY worth the time to make new sprites and get new sounds when the current class is perfectly fine?

I suppose because the immersion decreases for every new update? I rather have a bunch of monsters taunting me then, I don't know, Jesus and the Easter Bunny going commando in an Aliens movie. It really isn't that hard to piece together.

Not to say Gvh will ever be as immersible or serious as Aliens though, but you should get the point.

Also Frostbite is more of a general purpose Ghoul. I have never heard of him outside the holiday season in comparison to Santa, which is a global icon for Christmas.
