Bragging Thread (GVH related)
« on: September 02, 2009, 05:23:21 PM »
If you pawned someone at GvH you can chat about it here.

I just came back from a 5 Humans vs 8 Ghouls match. I was a Hunter (I suck as a Hunter), all my allies were dead, all ghouls were alive (2 of them were Jitters), my ping was high, I had 32 HP and it was 4:4.

Imagine this: I won!

Now you.

Greets.

Note to self: Provide pictures or a video to ensure credibility is correct.

Um...

I made an offline skirmish pure DM server for fun, loaded it with 8 humans and 8 ghouls... I ended up at the top of the list before I stopped because I was getting bored. The jitterskulls were just underneath me, lucky bastards.

Thats because hardly anyone actulay see's that 97E is bettar  :(

Most people think it sux just because its not a full version and they havent even played it.  :?

If They just gave it a chance then they would see its really good and not super buggy (proberly how they feel its gonna be like)  ;)

To Pucy100: Just try it

I agree, I can't stand how people are only playing on the really old GVH without the fixes and such. The very least people could do is play v2, beta 3.

As for bragging, I haven't played GVH in a while (see above text) so I have nothing to brag about. GVH v2 is fine at being in 97e, don't downgrade just because people are playing with d5 still. Once 97e is full, no one will probably play d5 anymore.

Well, I was playing v2 a few days ago for a few hours. People are being silly, how can v2 be fixed if no one even tests it. Could be the laziness of getting 97e, but I have two separate folders for 97d and 97e, and just switch programs from idese accordingly. Really simple and easy.

Bragging rights, hmm...
Two days ago, it was GvH06 V2. Like usual, I was random. So I spawned as a Hunter. While my fellow clan member Hitsugaya was a creeper. I switched to ice. turned to the right, saw a creeper lunging at my face. So I was already ready to fire the Ice Arrows, so I just turned, splat. Dead Creeper, 5 seconds into the round.

what about me??

Pucy cutman doesnt hav to limit gvh to what 97D5 is capable of (and it wont be around for long when a full 97E version comes out) just because of you. Its not super hassle your making a fuss other nothing.

Just try it

Its not that much hassle to update to next alpha version build, and it has better support for zdoom wads plus better skulltag wads.  (and much other stuff i cant be bothered to jot down)

97D wont be sticking around for long and cutman is preparing for this by switching gvh compatibility to 97E  so it isnt limited to 97D and ends up eventuly ignored completley when 97D is long gone.

So stop complaining about it not being 97D5 compatible anymore cutman IS NOT gonna change it ok?

My thoughts? Who cares.
97d is so horribly outdated. 97e supports many of the features that (G)ZDoom currently has. Which for something like GvH, that can only be vastly improved upon with use of features 97d is too outdated to provide. For instance, on my own project, there is no way I want to limit my self to 97d just to keep skulltag compatibility (even though its only a matter of time before 97e comes out). That is my choice and if Cutty wants to make the new GvHv2 work on only the beta, then it's his choice.

However I understand there are people who don't want to replace 97d just to play wad/pk3's that use 97e. So I will leave you with an easy method to use both with IDESE.

Step 1: Know your skulltag folder location.
(for me, c:doomskulltag)
Step 2: Download 97d (or if you know what your doing, just pick out the needed files). Put all that in ANOTHER folder. For example, Skulltag 97e
(for me, c:doomskulltag97e)
Step 3: Download 97e, replace the 97d files you would have placed in the Skulltag97e folder.
Note: if you only download 97e and put in the folder, you would be still lacking some required files, if you know enough about skulltag, you could manually copy and paste them from your current folder, but if you don't, just make a fresh download and overide that)
Optional Step: If you want to quickly get your game configurations over, just copy and paste the .ini file from the 97d skulltag folder to the 97e folder.
Step 4: Open IDESE from the 97d skulltag folder. Go into directories. One of these is programs. Click that. From there press the ... button, go into the skulltag 97e folder, and use that skulltag.exe.

Congratulations, you can now easily switch between 97d and 97e.
If a sever is using 97d, just repeat Step 4 and change the program back to the 97d skulltag.exe.

Now, stop making excuses to not play the betas  :)

Hmm... I can remember something fun, hehe...
Once in the Hollywood Holocaust map(known for being ghoul-sided), being Jitterskull, obviously, i stormed into the bathroom area where pretty much the entire human group was camping and ate them quickly one by one before i even died. :P

And i certainly wouldnt mind seeing more beta servers around. Today i've been playing and hell, the hunters where overpowered as always, even more due to it being the normal version before the beta's, the damned version with lightning arrows that do often 100 damage and up.
One REALLY good reason to host the beta's is because they're more balanced! Hmm... Now i remember, that even allows for exploiting known bugs that where fixed in the beta's. Like the Jitterskull slide. :P

I shot a Sjas with a lightning arrow from quite a distance last night. Something I haven't been able to do in a while. The Sjas died right away because it was the old gvh :(

@pucy: you can still use 97D5 even when you get 97E just put it in a differant folder and also it wont result in being massive the zip folder is only 3-4 MB big

its alpha at the moment because there ae still some bugs that need to be fixed before a full version is realesed. just stop whining you are completly ovr reacting to the compatibilty change -.-
