the major problems with searching for the mod in the forum are:
1) The PWAD name doesn't make it obvious enough (something in it doesn't match the name of the thread or something)
2) Sometimes, said PWAD was only leaked to a few for testing purposes but said purpose was not mentioned in, let's say, title.
3) Even with the forum's search engine, there are still stuff that falls into a gap because the filename isn't listed in their own topic.

If the number 3 is done, it would be enough to solve the problem!

Except it's still easier to simply double click a server and let it download all of the files for you.  I don't get why it's even an argument:  the amount of effort it takes for one person to upload to wadhost or a similar site is going to be infinitely smaller than the amount of time it's going to take for everybody who is ever going to think about joining the server to run around the site looking for all of the necessary files.  A 1 time 5 minute upload is preferable to 50 people searching for 15 minutes for the same file.

Oh, this:

Say I wanted to test something privately online with only a few people and noone else. (Let's say for your understanding, the MM8 expansion). Would I still have to provide the wad on wadhost or could I just distribute it privately?

Lio is correct. This only applies to actual releases, such as public releases of classes. The whole idea of this is to make everyones lives easier by ensuring that major hosted wads are hosted in such a way that Doomseeker can find them.

Also, could you perhaps put up a tutorial of some sorts for how to upload correctly to wadhost?

I'm having a wee bit of trouble :/

Honestly... Wadhost isn't even worth it anymore. They want us to do a lot of things just to have a small chance of approval. We better off find a FTP of sorts, or something that at least allows handling directories.

What small chance of approval are you speaking of? The Wadhost guy is nice, I could get IX uploaded no problem and he even posts in my own IX-Pack thread when it was uploaded. Talk about service.

No, "Best. Ever." is the name of a host. Speaking of, looks much better host than Wadhost is, even though you have to up one file at a time rather than bulk upload, and is simpler.

So I tried to join the Classes Deathmatch server. Doomseeker sez I'm missing the Gameboy map pack, so I updated my wadseeker site list with the topic BB provided.

It was not found in any of those sites.

ENFORCE RULE NOW PLS

Technically, this rule only applies to the main project releases, not small packs of weapons/maps/jazz. We can only trust that people will have some common sense and decency, and start uploading to websites that can be found through doom seeker. I think Messatsu has a site that can be used for uploading wads, so maybe folks can start passing wads to him for people on doom seeker to find. Otherwise, you'll still have to go into those topics and download them manually.

http://doom.dogsoft.net/index.php works well, as posted by Tsuki.
http://remote.gouhadou.com/files/ If someone could tell Mess to have an upload feature for this, that would be grand.

Allow me to correct: If someone could tell Mess to explain if the service is free and where to get it;

Any chance of changing the grace period to a week after MM8BDM v3 is released? Most people will probably have to update their wads anyway so uploading them then having the possibility of uploading a new version a few days after would be a waste.
