There's technically one already, even if it's just for IX.
Why don't they turn that into the general one? Would be better, IMO.

it doesn't really matter which is turned into the discussion thread
this one's a newer topic so people have to read through less if they care about that kind of thing
it makes more sense to use this one

I have played Final Fantasy I-VI, though I have only completed I (and even then, only with the use of cheats).
I guess the reason I lose interest partway through is that I don't really like the battle system that much. Perhaps I just don't like RPGs that much, as I prefer having direct control rather than using menus.

I completed V and VI. I was well on my way in VII but when I got halfway through (I actually just got Yuffie on the team) a friend saved over my game file.
Sad times were had.
I also agree that I've always had a heck of a time playing through these games, as most of the time when I pick up a turned-based RPG I have a hard time staying interested in it for the whole play-through (and these games are typically really long). Some games are really good at keeping the monotony at bay (like Baten Kaitos with it's quirky card system) but FF (along with a few others) basically defined the genre, so it doesn't really employ any of these tricks until later on the series.
Not sure what I loved about V and VI, though. I think in V it was the job system and in VI it was the story and music, the darker tone. Really great games.

The only Final Fantasy game I've played from start to finish is Tactics, and to this day it remains to be one of my all-time favorites. I've actually started another playthrough recently on an emulator, so I might show some screenshots eventually.

Final fantasy tactics?!
i got advance
and matra magic is so handy
for example
Babus
Hp 200
Mp 60
As example if i use a mp lowering spell
and he gets lowered to 0mp
and than using matra magic
that changed mp with hp so he would have 0 hp and 200 mp but since his max mp was 60 it be 60
and 0 hp is rip

In 5, Exdeath (interdimensional rift) is hard without chemist/X-magic/X-Fight.

I haven't really played all of the FF games but out of what i have played:
Bravely Default (hue hue hue)
7
3 (on the DS)
1 (i played the GBA version)
I really need to get more into this series because it's always interested me.

Bumping this because I've seen some dudes react negatively to FF15, namely the decission to streamline battle input, and I decided to take a gander at it and it doesn't seem too bad. Director Tabata's approach about it is that, instead of having to constantly push buttons and navigating menus to execute specific actions, these should be customized and chained to specific buttons that you can just press and hold down once.
Also, this is Yoko Shimomura's first time composing for a Final Fantasy game, and this is important.

I've completed 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,10-2, Crisis Core, and 12.
12 was almost certainly the worst.
6 is vastly overrated.
4 and 9 are amazing.

6 is so much better if you get the brave new world ips patch. suddenly characters aren't interchangeable anymore!

Shame the new direct translation is pretty bleh compared to the original though. Unless there's a Brave New World patch that doesn't replace the translation.
