Events / [EXPANSION] HAUNTED 8-bit deathmatch: Halloween returns!

After 5 years of silence every October, Halloween has finally returned to the deathmatch!



What will you expect from this? Terrifying, yes absolutely terrifying versions of your favorite MegaMan characters! Maps that might look familiar, or maps never before seen!

Where is this content going to come from? YOU, of course! But, not without a few guidelines:

-No resumbissions from previous events, please. We're starting fresh this time around.
-Skins should be related to MegaMan in some way. Robot masters cosplaying is fine as long as the character is at least vaguely related to Halloween. ClownMan as a mime? Yes! WindMan as a Jiang-Shi? Bingo! BurnerMan cosplaying Marisa Kirisame? Absolutely! MegaMan wearing a Ghostly Gibus? Sure, whatever! Also, I would like it if you made them compatible with class based mods if possible.
-Halloween reskins of maps should be more than just texture changes. Maybe add some special stage hazards or change up the weapon placement.
-All submissions will be reviewed and critiqued before they're guaranteed to be added in. This is to make sure that any skin submitted will look good and the maps are actually fun to play on. Remember that this won't flat out reject your submission, but rather to show you how to improve it.

Where to send them? Send them to me on my Discord, and add me if you haven't already! Blood44#0065 (my name is halloweenified right now so don't fret).

Submissions close on October 30th, 12:00 AM Pacific Time. Dedicated servers will be arranged somewhere down the line.

Oh and if someone makes a full pack of the stardroids cosplaying as the sailor scouts I will give them a discord nitro.

Bugs/Suggestions / [BUG] Some sprite files with the wrong format

While looking through the 8bdm pk3 for sprite file names, I noticed that there are a few odd sprites labeled "Graphic (SRB2)" and are shown in a pixelated mess in the preview image. Are these sprites corrupted in-game or is it nothing to worry about?

All sprites I found with the format issue were in the "actors" section of the sprites.

Bugs/Suggestions / Music needing replacement

Howdy, thought I'd try to chip in again.

I noticed that some of the music when looking in the pk3 file is actually kinda low quality, mostly "stage intros" and other small tidbits, thankfully none of the stage themes need updating.

I've attached a zip file containing all the music that I think should be replaced, come v6B.

Closed / [ERROR] Minor metool sprite offset error

I was looking in Slade for the metool assets, and I noticed that METTF1 a pixel lower than what the rest are. I also discovered METTB7B3 is one pixel higher than what it should be.

Also the fire metools should be a pixel lower than the offset line to match the regular metools, but that's only my opinion.

Would it be possible to add in an 8 bit remix of the unused beta version of FrostMan's theme as a special "alternate" track the same way TenguMan's stage works?

I think it would be kind of a neat easter egg.

First of all, thank you Mike for making this sub-sub forum for this thing.

I posted this sheet in my "resources" thread not knowing where else to put it, but it's going here right now.


Not much left to really say about it, I worked extremely hard on it with pretty much all of my "power" I had for nearly a year.

Actually there is a bit more to say about it now that I think about it

Firstly, I never bothered to make a skin file for it.

Second; the cyan and blue ratio was a little tricky for this one. At first I was going to leave the ice dome white and color the rest (save for eyes) cyan until a friend showed me their version and explained that DynamoMan's dome is blue too, so I went ahead and did that then.

Hey it's your main man Trash Bass back with another core skin remake.


SnakeMan here is a rather... difficult robot master to work with, mainly because of his tail and his arms are strangely drawn.
The "new" sheet has everything (except the idle and the walk animations in the f/r frames) made from scratch or partially edited. He also features a brand new firing animation.

The composer who goes by "Baiis8bit" (I think) is credited by their older username "Baiisilisk" in TenguMan's map card.

This time with DustMan, I built most of his frames from the ground up using actual refs of the character (with some help from a friend of course). I mean using freaking RingMan's walk cycle as Dust's is super ridiculous, they don't match his head & arm structure.

Help & Editing / Map music won't work no matter what I do

I've tried renaming the file, replacing the file, switching the file out for a different song,

But absolutely nothing I do will seem to get the music working! What am I doing wrong???

Yes considering that most of the skins haven't been revised (only a handful of the smaller ones such as Cut or Magnet)



Quick edit: I'm not done with this quite yet, I'm going to replace the gethurt sprite but I haven't gotten a good one to use yet \_(ツ)_/

Hiya guys I've been working on this for a long time and sadly couldn't finish it in time for 5b.



I edited basically every sprite for this skin. Mostly fixing the leg issues in the running animations (and FTX helped with firing frames thx boi) The most notable difference is that triangular thing on the back of his helmet, yes that is an official thing as seen here:

Anyways, you're probably here to see the sprites that I've made relating to actual MegaMan, and not video games in general so here we go.


The "Tsurare Stamp", it's that Big-eye type from MegaMan 10. Not really the same feeling with Bass and Proto's abilities when dealing with these things.


The "Classical Cannon" from Blade and I think Commando as well.


Piledan; it mainly appears in Sheep's stage, although I think I saw it in a Wily stage too.


Octobulb; This also appeared in Sheep's stage.


Oshitsu Osarettsu; It was the shield enemy that was in Nitro's stage.


Unused enemy from MM5; have no idea what this was going to be called or why it was scrapped.

Help & Editing / Doombuilder absolutely will NOT work

I tried downloading it again, I tried installing several versions of framework, and it STILL doesn't work, and I can't find anybody on the internet ANYWHERE who has the same problem as me! :mad:
