Can't play singleplayer without trouble

So I'm using Ubuntu 12.04. The only way I can use the MM8BDM launcher is through WINE. However, when I do that, there's sharp sparky sounds, and when I get ingame, the sound is horrible.

.. because of this, I can't test wads.

Have you tried using the native linux binaries for Zandronum? http://zandronum.com/download

It's not Zandronum, it's simply the MM8BDM launcher itself.

Anyway, Lego made a suggestion a while back that I'm sure will work, so this can get the lockity.

Huh, well, I was thinking of just skipping over the launcher entirely since the problems sound like it's an issue with sound from ZDR and not the launcher itself, but whatever works.  Before this gets locked, perhaps posting a solution that worked for you would be useful in case anyone in the future has a similar issue.

It was less a solution and more of a workaround - I merely told him to use Doomseeker's server hosting option since there is a button that says play offline...I use it when playing a multitude of mods for other games.

Although...if there's a Linux version, he could/should use ZDoom Launcher.

Okay, I decided to finally go test Lego's workaround idea, the game never started. Oh well.
