One year ago, on June 20th, 2014 a mapping event was held by one SmashBroPlusB called the Brothers Mapping Jam. In it people made small map pieces and then were assigned two partners where they made two separate maps. Unlike other mapping events at the time, this was no contest, merely an event to be enjoyed by the masses and maybe even get a Top Man medal. The event was generally considered a success and the maps are still played to this day.

and then freeman hosted a second jam which was weird i guess who cares

But Jam 1 was considered a success.

And then, silence.

The Jams vanished from the world. Contests rose up once again such as Finish That Map 2: Return of Jafar and I.N.S.P.I.R.E. Both were considered to be generally fun, and were great to help people who have never mapped before try their hand at it. Yet it was a different kind of event. There was no sign of the days of jam.

Until one year later, as the hot summer air blew it, it arrived, descending from above.

SmashBroPlusB and Dr. Freeman present...

Cutstuff Mapping Jam 3: Peanut Butter and Jam

Hey everyone, it's Dr. Freeman, and welcome to the Third Mapping Jam! That's right, we're celebrating the Jamiversary by hosting the third one of these. Now it can join all the great trilogies.
Like the Hannah Montana trilogy.
A masterpiece.

If you don't know what a Jam is, a super quick explanation. It's where a bunch of mappers get together and make some maps, though there's generally something different about how they are made. For example, the first map had members working together, while the second had you do it real fast. The other note about Jam is that it's For Fun! Meaning that there are no winners, losers, judges, or Concrete Man Medals. Just maybe a fun medal.

So what are we doing this time? Well I'm glad you asked! Because you'd be screwed over if you didn't!

He mentioned in the post that it doesn't matter if you sign up or not, just hand him a piece before 'merica day is over.

Hey everyone, it's time for...

PHASE 2

So let's talk about Phase 2!

I hope you didn't grow attached to the map pieces you made, because they will not be appearing in your map!
I mean, it's not illegal to use your own piece but that's not the main point here.

Phase 2 of Jam 3 is similar to Phase 2 of Jam 1 in the way that you will have two map pieces and will have to make a map with those two map pieces, the differences are the fact that

A. Unlike Jam 1, you are working alone.
B. The two pieces you get will be two other pieces made by the other people who signed up.

So basically, everyone has been assigned two other map pieces and you will make a map using those pieces.
Yay!

But let's get into some more detail here!

Hey, hey, let's talk about deadline!
OH NOOOOO
But it's summer, people have other things to work on, so we don't want deadline to be that crazy. So we're extending all the way to 11:59 PM on August 29th
DAMN
THAT'S A LONG TIME
WHAT IF PEOPLE PROCRASTINATE BECAUSE OF THAT LONG TIME

Well, don't you worry your pants! We're gonna have a check-in on August 1st. We are by no means expecting finished maps by that check-in. Just confirmation that some work has been put into the map.

Oh wait, how can you make the map if you don't know what pieces you have to use?
Well that's fine, because HERE WE ARE
THE PIECES
PEOPLE ARE USING
AAAAAAAAAAA

Pieces on the left, map maker on the right.

You can download all of the map pieces here!

Remember, have fun and have a Jam!

Something to clarify! Because it didn't occur to me until after Freeman had already posted.

You are only making one map. Your map will use both pieces in it.

Hopefully this should answer any remaining questions!

For anyone who plans to use GBT's piece, I should give a word of warning:
Pasting the map into GZDB caused all the little points to misalign from the grid by a very tiny amount. This makes drawing sectors around GBT's piece difficult because you won't be able to perfectly connect all your lines together. It's recommended that you check every vertices after pasting in GBT's piece and make sure that all the points and lines are aligned to the grid. This just happened to me and I don't want anyone else to struggle. Oddly enough, Smashbro's piece didn't have any issues with pasting.

I'm pretty sure it was just some weird mishap on your end, since I had no trouble pasting my own piece, or either of the two pieces I was assigned.

That said, I'm sure it could still happen to anyone or any piece, so Mendez's sentiment is probably still valid.

Yep, I quickly tested it and his piece copy/pasted just fine with no problem of adding sectors around it.

Doombuilder hates Mendez. ;-;

Yo, yo.

To my understanding, a chunk of the people taking part of this have been rather booked for the last month or so and I was thinking about it and while the deadline is supposed to be the 29th of August, this isn't a contest, and there is no reason to make a map pack of rushed maps.

As such, I am extending the deadline a whole month. (Wow!) ending it on September 30th.

More time to make good maps, more time to test maps.
Less time to make rushed maps or somethingidunno.
