Title: Is there a way I can extract the character sprites from MM8BDM?
Post by: Nikster31 on September 04, 2016, 01:29:35 AM
Hi, I'm working a personalized sprite database stored on my PC and I've always wanted to rip every character sprite and their different positions from the game, however whenever I try using a program that should look into .wad files I never seem to get any results. So I was wondering if there was some sort of program anyone could recommend that would allow me to go into MM8BDM's .wad file and extract every default character sprite in the game?

If this isn't possible, I suppose I could always remake the sprites by viewing them on my PC with my laptop to do this.

Thanks to anyone in advance!

Slade is popular, you are looking for the skins which should be in the graphics folder.

Thank you so much! I've tried using it once to open it up and view the files when I just realized now that I've been opening up the wrong file this whole time.

Character sprites are located in your MM8BDM pk3 in Sprites > Skins, not Graphics.

Easiest way I found was to make a copy of the PK3 I'm trying to extract, adding it to a WINRAR archive, and renaming the file type from PK3 to zip. This also works on WADs, I believe.
