This is my thread with experimental maps I'm making in it. I hope you enjoy it.
Divided Forest:I made this nature-themed CTF map, originally to practice mapping in Skulltag's format, and for personal use with some friends, but I decided to clean it up a bit and stick it here for you guys too. Download here. (http://www.mediafire.com/?ub9qmy57mczg0ey)

The first thing you'll notice if you start up this map is that you spawn with the Quick Boomerang instead of the Mega Buster. What why would I do that. NO LONG-RANGE WEAPONS. SHORT-RANGE WEAPONS ONLY. FINAL DESTINATION. Yeah, all the weapons on this map are shorter-ranged ones. Why? I tried to soup up the gameplay a bit with this map. You'll probably notice that, with this being quite different from most CTF maps.
The sides are much more defined, especially with that huge river in the middle. Note that this river will kill you. Hence all those RCs and Item-1s. One Flag CTF isn't really ideal because of this river, but it's possible; the white flag just isn't really easy to get. Also, this river makes bots mostly useless as they stand there shooting at the fence.
I put the flags atop hills out in the open to make it really visible to anyone if someone is running for the flag. People hiding within those snakes on the sides, though, are not so visible. You've gotta keep a close eye, or a well organized team could jump out from behind those snakes and take you by surprise. Best to hunt them down when you see them crossing the river.
There's a forest and a big mucky river on each side that will hinder your progress, but you can use the river flowing down from the hill to speed up your escape, if you go with the flow. Rivers seemed to become a big thing in this for some reason.
I didn't try too hard to make this visually appealing, but at least all those snakes are texturally accurate man that was a pain to do. Snake Man's music because I like him and I'm too lazy to compose an original song for this right now.
I dunno. I tried to make the gameplay different in this map but I think I just ended up with some bad level design instead. Chances are most of you probably won't like it, but whatevah.
Canaduh:This one I made because I wanted to figure out how to do that cool faux 3d architecture thing like in Pharaoh Man's stage. This one's a pretty small and straightforward CTF map, especially compared to Divided Forest. You have a big igloo with an outside area. Inside the igloo is a circular hockey rink or something and it's really slippery. The benches are kinda slippery too. Outside there's snow and mountains and that's pretty and also a bunch of blocks of ice that are slippery again. It's also very easy to tell what side you're on. Yeah there's not a whole lot to know.
The snow was irritating because either I put it in the upper portal and it never touched the ground, I put it in the lower portal and it only started right above the ground, or the third option that I went with which was to put the snow in the skybox which still looks kinda weird but shut up. I couldn't figure out a way to get the one side to have a red skybox and the other blue without screwing up the igloo so deal wit it.
Blizzard Man's music because composer's block and he's supposed to be Canadian I think. Or Russian. Pretty sure that hat makes him Canadian though.
It occurred to me after finishing this up that the red and blue could be interpreted to mean the colours of that flag of the USA but shut up ok it's Canaduh. Yeah.
