Title: Usefull Expansion Pack (For custom content)
Post by: ficarra1002 on November 28, 2010, 01:37:10 AM
Posting this so that people who use skulltag for MM8BDM only know about it. Its the Skulltag Expansion Pack ( http://www.skulltag.com/forum/viewtopic ... 12&t=10122 (http://www.skulltag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=10122) ) Why am I posting this? Because it has a useful tool that some people who use custom content may like. It has a Clean Screenshot function so you can take screenshots of you maps with out your weapon, or the little "Spectating - Space to join" message being in the way.
Then more importantly, it has a playlist function, so you can listen to specific custom musics in a specific order with the touch of one key. No need to open the console and type changemus every 5 minutes.
Just click the link above and choose a download location. Extract/install to your mm8bdm directory
The playlists are in .m3u format, and the controls are with all the rest, at the bottom of the list.

I think you're better off posting this on Doom discussion, even if a lot of MM8BDM players don't read that forum. Skulltag mods are out of MM8BDM's grasp in my opinion, but this is indeed neat and useful.

Yeah I was gonna post it in general, but i knew hardly anyone would see it, so i posted here, were most of the cutstuff users are new to skulltag. I mainly like the expansion pack for the playlists.

I actually think it's logical that he posted it here.  Technically things like the text color codes and etc are general Skulltag things before MM8BDM-specific things, yet they're still discussed here because a lot of people who play 8BDM would make use of them and may not know about them otherwise.

Like, I'm super glad about the clean screenshots, personally. <3

Thanks for posting this here.  I wasn't looking for add-ons, but that playlist feature caught my eye.  How do you add music stored in a .wad into a .m3u playlist, though?  I don't see a command for adding a currently playing song to a playlist.

Edit: Well, my intention to use this instead of "changemus" seems to be a bust.  The playlist feature is apparently intended to work with regular .m3u files, not anything specific to Skulltag, as far as I can tell.  From what I've been able to find on the .m3u format (http://hanna.pyxidis.org/tech/m3u.html), it's easy enough to manually edit each playlist file, but I think you need the time to play each song in there; doesn't seem to offer looping a song.  Not only that, but I don't think .m3u can contain anything but a path to a file, and the file in this case would be a .wad, rather than a file within that .wad, unless there's a command or option you can include which I don't know about.

It seems it would work fine if I wasn't trying to listen to Mega Man music on repeat in a .wad file.  If I'm wrong, let me know.

Just open a wad with slumped and extract the musics and rename them to .ogg. Then make a txt file, and "code" (pretty much designate the folder of the files) and rename it to .m3u and put it in the folder. Ill make a video how-to later. Just had the wisdom teeth removed, so not feeling up to it now.
