Title: Have a couple of questions about hosting a server.
Post by: Camo Yoshi on December 03, 2010, 01:28:26 AM
1. I notice a lot of my clients use 10667 instead of 10666. Is there any way I can set the server to accept any port? (I have forwarded all the ports on my router for the server computer.)

2. I really don't like the log that's built into the Skulltag server (I like each event to be on one line). Is there a good, auto-refreshing, text file viewer for WinXP? (I've already tried Notepad++ auto-refreshing mode but it didn't work -_-').

3. I also want to know if there's any way to automatically add one bot related to the stage, e.g. if we are currently on MM1CUT, then the bot "Cutman" will automatically join the game. When we move on to the next stage, say, MM4PHA, then "Pharaohman" will auto-join and "Cutman" will leave.

Thanks, I'm a bit new to hosting servers so any advice would be appreciated.

Does anyone have anything to say? Please?

1. Clients have 10667 on the end, but they still connect to your 10666 server. Don't ask. If you really want to open all your ports, you can put in "port range" from XXXXX to XXXXX if you want to.

2. Not quite sure.

3. You'll have to kick and add each  bots manually via the main log.

Well I can't help you with the first one because I don't have the same modem as you! There should be a "port range" option somewhere.

I don't think you're understanding what I'm trying to say. I have ALL the ports on my router opened for the server, yet I still get people that have authentication errors. And I tend to notice that they use port 10667 rather than 10666, which mine is set to.

So, is there anyway I can set Skulltag Server to allow ANY incoming port? Right now I can only choose one port to use at a time, rather than a range.
