I'm working on a new skin right now. This one will definitely require more effort.
This skin that I'm working on is "Chao". That is, the adorable little creatures from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

However, you should probably swap colors and see if that looks better.

And for an added bonus, use the wrong black on his eyes or something.

I actually did swap the colors before posting it. I tested how the different colors would look with various weapons. I decided that this color scheme works best.

I hadn't thought about the eyes, though. Yeah, I should make them the wrong black. Thanks for pointing that out.

Hell yeah, I inspired someone~ It's good to see people like my skin.
Aaand I think Korby was working on a White Mage too, but good luck with it anyhow. Specially on the front and side rotations, those were a pain in the back for me when I was working on BM.

Those of you who play Roboenza(that's a lot of you) have probably noticed that the White Mage's skin has the wrong kind of black for it's outline. I had already released the skin by the time I noticed it, so I'll have to re-release it after I fix this problem.

Once upon a time, my brother, Jafar, showed me a weird NES game called the Krion Conquest. It looked like a really strange Megaman ripoff, but it was still fun.

Just a couple of days ago, Jafar mentioned the Krion Conquest again. Having nearly forgotten about it, I decided to go back and take a look at it.

Then I thought, "Hey, why not make a Francesca skin? That'd be really funny."

Silly people.

The chao is exactly the same size his sprites are. It looks giant compared to Sonic because the sprites are from two different games. This chao is from the tiny chao garden in Sonic Advance. His size is perfectly normal. I didn't do any resizing or anything.

I told you about that before. =P I say go ahead and change it. You could leave the original black as outlines of her hair as well, just so she can still have red around her but not blinding.

I tested the different shade of black on some other poses, and it just seemed to look awkward. Having all of her hair turn red looked a lot more normal, albeit eye catching. So I'll just leave it like that.

The glow effect on the staff looks a little overdetailed. It kinda clashes when you're charging up Atomic Fire and the like.

A few of the side frames seem a bit off...I think they should looks like this.

Another thing I noticed, her sprites seem to be a little off-center compared to other skins. I'm not sure if that'll make her hitbox confusing, but you might want to look into it.

One day Kapus was just fooling around. Being a bit bored, he started fiddling with the Cat Planet Cat sprites he had lying around. And before he knew it,

He had done this. I call it "Ninja Cat Planet" or "Masked Cat Planet." I was about to trash it, but Smash suggested I make it into an actual skin.

Hmm...maybe add a small backpack onto rainy day roll? It would add a little more detail while increasing the cute factor a bit. You could do the same with the umbrella instead but since she uses that to fire it might look silly

Back when I was heavily into this game, I was toying with (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/JosephCollins/Sprites/DoropieCompare.gif) the idea (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/JosephCollins/Sprites/DoropieCompare4.gif), but never said anything here.  Months later, I pop into the Wiki and notice this.  I was a bit surprised, honestly.  I didn't think many people knew about this game. (Despite rumors to the contrary, the game wasn't made as a rip-off or anything like that.  It just shared the gameplay and used a heavily modified version of the Rockman 2 engine, is all.)  Kind of glad someone decided to do a skin of Doropie/Francesca, actually.  Saves me the trouble.

As Korby mentioned a couple of pages back, squidguy was already planning on making all of the other PU roll costumes. Its pretty obvious that I started to beat him to it.(I already have 2 skins finished, and a third one on the way!) But to avoid confusion, and to make things easier, squidguy asked if I would like to work with him on making all the costumes.

HEY GUYS THIS IS IMPORTANT

Cat Planet Cat has been relreleased. I have added a taunt to his pk3. His taunt is, of course, the mew sound cat planet cats make when you talk to them. So go ahead and redownload! I already updated the wiki with the rerelease, so don't worry about that.


Also, I have Classic Roll up for download. I finished this skin weeks ago, and was planning to release it with all the other Roll skins in the PU expansion, but I thought I might as well just release it here. It wasn't even a DLC skin in PU anyway!

Okay, so I've been getting a lot of requests lately. And I mean a ton of them. Every time I start playing MM8BDM someone is like, "Hey Kapus can you make a skin for me."

So..I'm creating a list to keep track of all the skins I'm trying to make and how close I think I am to finishing them.

Vacation Roll: For the PU expansion. 90% done.
Ultros: 80% done.
Jumpig: 40% done.
Shield Attacker: 80% done.

If you insist, but I find a large list of things to do can be intimidating.

I want you to take your normal Chao skin and create one based off of what results from raising one as the villains of Sonic Adventure 2:  In short, a Dark Chao.

What are the differences?  Most are in its face.  The Dark Chao sports a spiky emotion ball instead of just a sphere.  Its cyan-teal-ish eyes are smaller than that of a normal Chao, and it sports a wicked, devious, triangle-teeth grin.  There are probably more that I've forgotten, snoop around for some screenshots.

I shunned the idea of a Dark Chao skin because I thought the color scheme would make it too similar to the regular chao. By default, dark chao look pretty unique compared to neutral chao, but I think when put into MM8BDM the color scheme would make them look too similar.

But if you REALLY want I could take a stab at it. Or you could let Smash do it. I don't care.

Shield Attacker is pretty much done. I had actually finished it a long time ago..except for one problem. I accidentally put the rotations in backwards, so I have to go back and fix them all.

In the meantime, Bronto Burt, Scarfy and Ultros all have their sprite sheets finished. I'm going to hurry up and put them into a pk3 so they can be out of the way already.

I really like the Megaman 4 enemies. That's why I started making Jumbig and Shield Attacker.

I started skinning the incredibly simple "Helipon" enemy. I got all of his sprites done (and colored) in a few minutes.

When I think of "Onion Roll" I think of onion rings..
There were a couple of suggestions for what Onion Roll would look like.

1) Roll with an onion shaped head.
2) Roll dressed up as an Onion Knight.

I don't know what Onion Roll will look like, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Hmmm... I love Skullmets to tell you the truth. I can attempt to make a sprite sheet if you want. Just to tell you though, I'm pretty busy with homework and school, and I suck at walking sprites...

Good thing he doesn't have legs. XD

BTW: I would think that something like Ring Ring would be incredibly easy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that all the rotations are there.

Yes, Ring Ring(like most MM4 enemies) will be very easy to sprite. All of his rotations are not there, however.

I'm making two versions of this skin. One with the umbrella, another without. The one without the umbrella will be called Rackaser. The one with an umbrella will be called Umbrella Guard.

I know the spike telly is called togehero, though. However, by the time I learned that, I had already released the skin. Re-releasing it just for the name would be kind of silly!

Amoeba and Bug Copter are both American localization names, however, so they are still technically correct.

Would you mind doing pain state rotations for when Onion Knight is kneeling (status condition) and collapsed on the ground (out of health)? Really, the front-side frames are already there so I just need back frames.

EDIT: never mind I'm an idiot, I was thinking of every other class in the game

Unlike most of the FF3 classes, Onion Knight just sits on the floor and cries like a baby instead of kneeling in pain. Could you make some *braces* custom kneeling and faceplanting sprites for him? PLEASEDON'TPUNCHMEKAPUS

Alrighty, all those broken skins are now fixed up. However, as a bonus, I also went back and tweaked a couple of older skins for this update. (e.g. Peach's height problem has been fixed, Elias' pain sounds work properly now, etc.)

I counted Buggy, Freon and the two desk lamps haha.

The Kapus skin was never released publicly as a skin. I made it for a bot some time ago (that I also never released) and ended up forgetting about it. I don't really like that skin now because the spritework is pretty shoddy, but if anyone wants me to make a new skin of that character, I wouldn't mind. I got better sprites (http://kapus49.deviantart.com/art/Pixel-Kapus-Super-Mario-Bros-X-424277286) for it now.

I switched to imgur ages ago. If you checked the first post, you'll notice that Freon still has her image up because she was done after I switched to imgur.

The annoying thing is reuploading all of these pictures from photobucket to imgur. I have like over 50 different skins.

To go into further detail (I was short on time when I made that post), I don't really have much motivation to finish any of the WIP skins you see on the opening post. I have started pretty much all of them, but my motivation dropped at some point. If I really don't end up continuing them, maybe I could drop their sheets here for someone who feels like picking them up for whatever reason.

Actually, I don't do much custom skinning anymore in the first place, as you've probably noticed. I didn't even have a New Years picture this year because I barely made any new custom skins for it. One reason for this is that I've grown more interested and invested in more dynamic, game changing content for the game, such as custom maps (my updated map pack will release very soon, actually). I love to sprite and still do in my free time, but for MM8BDM I tend to spend most of my time thinking up and creating custom maps for people to play on. Now days I only make custom skins if I get a sudden surge of inspiration or if a really neat idea is brought to my head.

Another reason is that I'm pretty content with the skins I have right now. There are few characters I'm interested in that don't have skins these days. I'm satisfied with the selection I and many other users have created over the years, especially with Geno and Smash's recent Toadette and Lemming skins. The WIP skins I have in that post, while would be cool to have, sadly don't interest me quite as much. Not enough to go through the time of finishing them all.

I would still like to finish my Panel De Pon series, though. One of the WIP characters in that post is actually a Panel De Pon character, and I still intend to finish that one at the very least.

I guess talking about wanting a tango skin and being sad about it not existing makes sense, but you certainly could have worded it better.

I've noticed that a couple of times when loading my skins, but I'm not sure why it happens. The skins all work just fine.

As for the taunt, I believe I did that so it would show up more often in the randomization.

I've come across that error a few times while testing skins.

It's because the first four letters of the SFX names start with the same four letters as the skin name or a texture name in a map.

The fix is as simple as re-naming them to not conflict with any sprites.

It's been about 5 years now. I've been making custom skins for at least 3 of those 5 years I've been here, starting from that silly little cat planet (which started a fad). Might as well acknowledge and celebrate somehow my milestone somehow.
