Change Log
Sprites have been completely refurbished.
Has two new pain sounds and death cry added to the mix.
A new skin has been added as well, with his firing frames changed to attacking with his bare hands.
Barehanded firing frames have been updated
New taunts

(NOTE: If you have already downloaded this skin once before, please remember to remove Gizmo.pk3, Gizmo-Barehanded.pk3 and MegaGizmo.pk3 before updating with this one. This is an entirely new file to save space.)

My fancharacter, with two Three skins.
These skins took a very long time to make. For one, These were custom made sprites. Of course I used a base, (TWO bases at that) but other than that I did all of that myself. Then I had to 8bitify it, and make sure I didn't leave any mistakes. Then I had to go and make him a separate set of sprites with Megaman's armor. It was very time consuming, but I had fun with this. As for the third skin, I ended up taking the first skin and just replacing the attacking animations with new ones, which were actually really tough. Making those rotations were probably the most trouble I've had with spriting Gizmo in a loooong time.

My main character, and the same name and character I go by here on Cutstuff.
It took me quite a while to get this skin done. Mostly out of procrastination and uncertainty. But once I set my mind to it, it wasn't really that hard. Turning it 8bit was tedious, but that was the main challenge.
This is also the tallest skin I have ever made so far. (only to be bested by the Chao Walkers, if they ever get done. But it's justified in the fact that they're big machines...)
Fun Fact: Some of the sprites I used for Knuckles, (mainly the front walking) were edited off of Smash. Yeah. I'd already done Smash's first, and had to go back and turn that into Knuckles.

The Dark Chao, the Hero Chao, and a bonus: the Cat Chao. (Originally was going to be Kitty the Cat Chao (http://sonicfanon.wikia.com/wiki/Kitty_The_Cat_Chao), another fan character, but I decided against it. Instead, it's just a chao of the same race.)

Just finished playing this Megaman clone of a game, and I must say: It was well worth it. If I only heard the music, I could swear that it sounds just like Megaman. (Especially Lightning Man's theme. That sounds So much like Plug man's theme, it's uncanny.)

I'm not doing all directions. I just found a convenient way of doing the front. I wasn't originally going to do that.

I think the hat looks a little lopsided on the back standing frame...his outlines are a little fuzzy there too.

Yeah, That would be good. I'll take note of that.

As for the hat, yeah I think you're right. I was trying to make it a little more visible in the back to cover up his head a little more. But I think I accidentally mixed something up in the editing sheet. Not too late to fix it, though.

Yeah, I mentioned that earlier. I must have been messing with that thing for 15 minutes. -.-'' Like I said, it STILL looks wrong. I just put it up in hopes that someone would point out a suggestion. But I'll try again. Maybe it might look a bit better if it's smaller. (Longer makes him look more like Launchpad than Darkwing.)

The one on the left is the current one. The other three are attempts at making his beak look a little more normal. They also have his slightly slimmed down body. (You can still see some of his cape, taking up the room that his stomach used to.)

Hmm. I like the left one of the three the best. Since Darkwings beak goes upwards, the one on the left looks about right for a beak that tips up.

Edited the first post with a bit of a progress update in the skin template. His shooting is pretty much done. The only things that are left are his walking sprites in all directions except for Front R, and And his entire Back R sprites. I still got a ways to go.

Only thing is, I don't know how to convert an MP3 to an OGG.  :?

You can use Audacity. It's free and it has an Export as Ogg function. Just open the file with it and export it with said option. The thing is I don't remember if you need to download anything else, like plugins. It's been a while since I last downloaded it but I'm sure everything you need is in the official site.

Nope. Audacity can export as Ogg out of the box (so to speak anyways, I know it doesn't come in a box).

A small update for the music pack. There are only two more people I need permission from to use their remixes in it. Once I get them, I'll release it. While I'm waiting, I'm open to suggestions for remixes to add to it. I'm calling it "Megaman-Extra Songs". Mainly 'cause there are some songs that I really wanted to hear in game, but didn't. Such as Wily Stage 2 from MM10. AKA "Against The Pressure". So I added that. Here's the list of songs.

EDIT: I unwittingly found out what the wily stage boss themes are for each of the games. So..uhh...It overlaps with MM3BOSS2.^^; I'm going to have to change it. It's now MM3BOSS3.

DW's coming along pretty well. I managed to make his Back right running, and it looks fine except for the fact that I didn't animate his flowing cape yet. Which I'll have to do tomorrow. I think I'm gonna have to reposition his leg though on his facing right sprites. He looks like he's standing straight, contrast to his front right. Also, I need to make him look more like he's facing front right in those sprites-OR I could do that and have those current sprites for his facing right. That might make a little more sense. What do you think?

Why, oh why did you "mix" No Turning Back? It was fine as it was. The mixed version sounds scratchy and weird. I wouldn't mind this so much if you included the original version in there, but you didn't. What gives? You didn't mix the other Wily stages anyway.

Yeah, so..Progress is slow. I've got a lot of other stuff I need to do. (unfortunately I've lost my motivation to work on that other stuff, and I've basically been trying to remotivate myself to work on it. In a way, it was a waste of time.) But it's still coming along. I've made the Front R sprites, except for walking.

I think it's fine. I now just need to get the Back R sprites done and then I'll start on the walking.

I'm ALMOST done. The back walking sprites were tricky, I'm not sure if I screwed up somewhere or not, but I did what I could. All that's left now is the front, which I think is going to be much harder. But that's the final step before I start coloring.

Okay, I need to know something. I was using Irfanview to make my sprites background transparent, like I do for everything else, but it doesn't show up as transparent in SLumpEd. Does Irfanview not work for this? Or am I forced to use something else?

No, the thing is, I always use MSpaint. But it can't save stuff with transparent colors as far as I know, so I open the sprites in Irfanview specifically for saving them with transparency. But when I imported them into SLumpEd, The color isn't transparent. :?

Use SlumpEd's color remap to remap the color you want to be transparent to index 247 and then apply it.

Oh, sorry, I confused... It is in XWE... SRY! ^^

XWE has this nifty thingy called "Color Remap"... But I can get you the MS Paint color combination for the transparency.

Green: 255
Blue: 255
Hex format: #00FFFF

Its much easier to just use Paint.net.

Just open up the image in Paint.net, erase the background, and then save.
You're done! The image is now transparent.

Actually, that doesn't works like that. Even when I made transparent areas with Photoshop, I STILL had to remap colors in XWE. Regardless of having the file saved as Web-Friendly or normal.

Hey. I just got an idea for a new skin...or rather, quite a few new skins.

I'm sure many people know about Kapus' chao skin, right? What if I made a Hero and Dark chao skin? I had originally got this idea from considering making a Cat Chao skin, (has absolutely nothing to do with Cat Planet) something I had made up some time ago. I had also considered making the Hero and Dark Cat Chao as well, but then I realized that if I did that, then I would have to make a normal Hero and Dark as well.

So what do you think? Should I go ahead and make all of these or just a set few? In case you want to know, this is what a cat chao looks like:

There really isn't too big of a difference between hero regular and cat chao, to be honest. (I tried so hard to come up with a trait to add to it, I came up with nothing.) So I would just leave that out, but if I had the Dark Cat chao along with it, then I'd of course have to bring in the hero one as well.

Anyway, What is your say on all of this?

Why make a Hero and Dark chao skin? Given the color scheme for the MM8BDM skins, they would hardly look any different than a normal chao. They'd just have different emotiballs and head shapes.

Its just redundant.

If so, then I'll make this my next project, After I'm done with my current one. Which is not Power Protoman. I might not finish him, by the way. I just never really got into it. But then again, I might. I just have too many other interesting things to work on.

I suppose I should say that the reason I'm taking so long is that I'm making two skins at the same time, both of which I want to release together. The first one is just about done. I just need to put the stuff together in SLumpED, and it's good to go. Second one will take a little longer, but it's coming along nicely. I should be done with the first one sometime tonight. The second one? I don't know. But sit tight, it'll be soon. Hopefully by the end of this week I'll have started on a new project.

Also, I still haven't heard anything from the guys on YT about their remixes I had wanted to use, so unfortunately I still can't release the music pack. A real shame. I might message them again, but I'd hate to nag...

Okay, I'm having some trouble adding sound effects. I can't find out how to do it without making the game crash. :?  Is there a catch or what? I don't understand why the game keeps crashing when I add sound effects. I know I got it to work before somehow, but this time it's not working at all.

Finally! I'm Done! Gizmo's been fixed up. I added a taunt to both skins (which are the same) as well as a jewel on the back of regular Gizmo's gloves. The jeweled gloves idea I got from another fancharacter of mine. It changes color depending on your weapon. :p

Whelp! That's about it. Next up, I'll start working on the Chao Walker. But first, I need a break. XD

Decided to get an early start on the Chao Walker skin. This will take a long while to finish. But I plan to make three of them. Neutral and Dark, the original ones, and then a modified version of the neutral one. I'm trying to come up with a design for it. I want it to have twin arm cannons, but I'm having trouble making it.

Okay okay, This time it's Gizmo's FINAL Re-release. Along with Darkwing Duck's. This is the third time they each have been released.

Anyway, Differences. Few minor spriting errors have been fixed. And now Darkwing has a taunt, whereas Gizmo has a few extra sound effects as well as a small boost in volume for his death cry as MegaGizmo. Now that the two have been polished up, I promise you that this will be the final time that you'll have to re-download them. Sorry for the inconvenience. But it should be worth it. (Especially if you're a Darkwing fan. Or a Gizmo fan.)

Okay, so I've been neglecting this for a while. I've been working on another project of mine, but nowadays I can't seem to get on the computer where that project is located, so I figured I might as well do some work on some skins while over here. Thus, I decided to actually start on the chao walkers. I STILL need to make a decent design for the third chao walker, but here's what I got for the other two:

I wanted the Dark walker to seem, yknow, Darker. So I left the dark color on it. I hope it doesn't look too weird. What do you all think?

Okay, so Chaos Fantasy requested a Dark Chao skin. Technically, he asked Kapus to do it, but I already asked you guys if I should do it. The reason why I didn't was because it'd be too similar to the already existing Chao skin. But, I think I might have found a way to avoid that. I'm doing what I did with the Dark Chao Walker up there. Also, I decided that if I'm gonna do the Dark chao, I might as well get the Hero chao there too.
Here's an example.

The problem was, the Dark chao would look way too similar to the regular chao. That's pretty much why I didn't do it. The hero chao actually looks different though. But yeah, if you guys don't mind that issue, then I'll go ahead.

Yeah, I've got a small problem here with the Dark Chao's eyes. Unless I change their color, they'll blend right in with the weapon blue color, thus making his eyes look white only. So, I'm gonna be experimenting with it, to see if I can't get past this problem...

Oh, right. Every color is changed to one the Doom Palette. Gravity Man's hat thing was originally supposed to stay blue, but Doom had a different idea....Anyway, I suggest making it a darker blue or sommat.

I'm gonna have to go and apply this to every other frame now. It's a bit annoying, but it can't be helped. I'll soon be done with all of this and move onto adding sound effects.

EDIT: Done with that. Now it's onto Hero Chao.

EDIT2: Hero Chao's ready. Now I just have to get these sounds together. I must say, though, Hero Chao's colors really do it for him.

The cat planet taunt is the sound that Cat Planet Cats make when you talk to them. Its a very distinctive "mew" sound. Its extremely out of place for a Cat Chao.

I put that there for two reasons.

1: I didn't have any other meow sound. Cat chao should meow, like Alucard stated.
2: I thought it'd be an amusing easter egg that would show up sort of rarely, as there were several other taunt sounds that would overshadow it.

If it bugs you that much, I'll remove it.

And I noticed that the chao voice clips are rather quite as well. It's unfortunate. I suppose I could amp up the volume to them when I replace the mew sound, which will mean that the chao are scheduled for a rerelease.

That's Seven more chao that I need to do, plus updates to the three already existing chao I have. So I have...Wow, 10 skins to work on, if you don't count the two Chao Walkers I'm putting off.

Yeeeaaahh...That's a lot of work. But I'm still on my break, so don't expect to see these coming up any time soon. :p

Well, I suppose that settles it. I'm going to try and make a Gizmo class, complete with his own weapons. Lio's going to help me make the main one, the Hand Cannon. (which is what he uses in his regular skin) Here's the list of weapons I plan to have for it. And if possible, I would like to use extra sprites for each one. Not sure if I can, though...


And if possible, I was thinking of making weapons/items that only Gizmo can pick up, that are only dropped by Eddie. If possible, I'd make...

put it in a folder named anything you want(I use "actors") and put it in there. Then, in a lump called DECORATE in no folders, put in #include actors(or whatever you use)/namehere

Okay, I've made the Gizmo class, and it works. I couldn't avoid the class select when you start the game though, but I think it's fine. All I need, now, are the weapons. First up, The Hand Cannon. I need to get the sprites for it ready. Lio's gonna be waiting on me for them. So far, I've already gotten the shots down. I had em before I even thought of this. BUT, I need to get the rotations of the fully charged shot done, along with the gun itself in 1st person view. The latter is what I'm worried about. It will take me a while to do that. So I'm saving that for last.

EDIT: There's just one thing that's been bugging me. How do I get it that Gizmo's skin is the default for the class, instead of the base Megaman skin?

Well first, add +NOSKIN somewhere on the playerclass actor so people can't change skin when using Gizmo, if that's what you want. Then replace all of the sprite names on the player class with Gizmo's. Like this:

You need to rename one of spawn names in the decorate class file to tnta1 or something like that. Look at the other classes to find which one.

I finally got around to working on the class again. At first I was fiddling around with weapons, and it soon lead me to try and make the Claw Gloves out of Charge Kick. It's half working. It crashes if I make the class start with the weapon, but I won't try to fix that until after the weapon is done.

EDIT: Well the Claw Gloves are pretty much done. I just need to shorten the range distance, make the slash effect sprites, and then test it out and see if it's too strong or too weak. And then I'll move onto the more technical stuff with the weapon, something I forgot to mention. Extra sprites to show the skin slashing with the weapon instead of using his gun. And then there's the Alt.fire. I think there might have been one more thing, but I think I either forgot or already did it.

One thing for sure, though. When testing it with the bosses, the Yellow Devil sure gave me a hard time. Guts Dozer was just long and boring. Doc Robots were surprisingly taken down quickly, but it was dangerous having to get up close to them.

And the Metool Daddy? Well....It didn't end well.

I also made a Gizmo Bot. I want to look over it a couple more times before I release it.

And of course, I made a Mega Gizmo bot as well. It's not too much different from Gizmo, except he makes a few comments about his Megaman suit.

I also made a bot of the Gizmo Class. It's kinda glitchy, as he repeats the same lines over and over and claims that he won when he really lost. I don't know what was wrong with it.

Okay, the Claw Gloves are Allllmost finished. I just need to know one thing: Exactly how do you get the screen to flash? And can you get it to flash black?

I also can't seem to figure out what's wrong with the ammo. It works for the Eternal Claws, which is essentially the upgrade of this, but when I try to set this weapon to use ammo it doesn't work. =/ Might have something to do with me setting it to use up ammo with the alt.fire only at first, but even then that should have worked. I don't know. I might find something out once I go and polish up the Eternal Claws so that it doesn't look so much like a direct copy.
But along with that, the ammo bar doesn't seem to be working right, either...

2: This one I've also thought about, but I chose Gizmo over him because it'd be more fitting. Smash The Echidna, the guy in my avatar. I was thinking if anything, I'd make him as some sort of boss. But sticking with a skin would be alright. (Or a class. That would be fun.) One of the main reasons I'm wanting to make this skin is because HE'S actually my main character, Not Gizmo. Gizmo's getting a lot of shine, but Smash is scarcely known around here. Though I guess he deserves a break. If I were to add voice clips like Gizmo, I'd most likely voice him myself. (if only I had a high quality microphone...)

3: On the subject of Echidna's, Kapus hasn't seem to have finished Knuckles yet. But then again that might be because our main computer is still down. But either way I could try to finish it for him if he wants.

4: I could go ahead and try to make Sword Kirby, or Frost: My main Kirby FC. If I make Frost, I'm probably gonna make two versions of the skin for him, like I did with Gizmo. Since he can equip far more than just his swords, I figured that letting him use a gun would be fitting.



So yeah. Which ones do you guys think I should do, if not all of them? I'm also open to ideas, but I may not accept them all.

Back on topic, The Gizmo Doll never really bothered me. If it did I would never even consider making one.

As for the Bubukan, I never started on it. I've been trying to work on another project of mine since I've finally gotten access to all my stuff on a brand new computer rather than being limited to the laptop only. Tonight I'll at least look at the sprites, though.

It also contains a song that I mixed with another that isn't even on Youtube anymore. At least I don't think it is. Haven't been able to find it again when I wanted to remake it. It's too big to list all of the songs. But there's an outdated list on I think the second or third page of this topic. Though some of the music codes may have been changed since then.

Though I should probably note, some of the songs in there are already in some other music packs. Mainly referring to the MusicsRemix pack added into the CSCMRemixed pack. BUT, they're better quality. *Wily eyebrow wiggle*

Yeah so, It probably would have been best if I had released this AFTER the expansion. I've noticed that there are songs on here that conflict with the expansion's songs. And since I had missed some songs, I'm going to re-release this sometime today.

Okay so I fixed up the songs and added the ones I forgot. I'm not sure if you all want me to put in the other beta songs. Should I or shouldn't I? Personally the only beta song I liked was the first wily stage's, along with the Bass Duel. (Kinda)

I don't mind the 8bit remakes much. The only problem I have with them here is that they have the intro cut out so they can loop. Which is unlike the other songs from 1-6. The intro to the songs give the buildup. To me, without them it's not as satisfying

It just so happens that Kapus asked me to finish Knux for him. For a while now I've had a bad case of Spriters block. And now of all times isn't really a good time to have spriters block. The Character "Smash The Echidna"'s birthday was yesterday, and I haven't done anything yet.

So...I'm gonna try and work through it and get stuff done.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I've been thinking about using the sprites for Gizmo's skin to add him into SRB2. I've got most of what I need at hand, so it could actually work out pretty well. There's only a few things that come into question about it, mainly about how he'll handle. But I'm pretty sure I could work it out. And I might just make a MegaGizmo as well if I can somehow make him be able to shoot Megabuster pellets. If it's somehow possible to sorta port the weapon from MM8BDM to there...



Anyway, those are just some random thoughts on my mind. I still need help with those Smash sprites, btw. And the Knuckles Skin is coming along. Don't have an actual release date for it yet, but I've got most of the sprites I need lined up. I've also altered the color scheme a notch, I feel that Kapus' current one needed something.

Now, the first thing I'm going to do is work on Gizmo. As one of my main fan characters, I need to show him the respect he deserves. (from me, that is. I'll leave outside opinions to you guys.) Especially since I use his sprites elsewhere, so it'll help me in more ways than one. At first, it sounds like it shouldn't take too long. But really, I have to go back and edit the sprites before they were turned 8bit, and then 8bitify them, and THEN turn him into MegaGizmo. So, I might just be making him all over again. Should be for the better, though.

Next, I gotta fix up the chao trio's sfx. It shouldn't take too long, really. (In fact, I could probably do that right now.) It's just that the sounds really gave me a lot of unnecessary trouble when I was implementing them into the pk3 files, so it was frustrating. I could get over that easily now though, I'm sure.

Next, I'm gonna have to make all the rest of the chao on that list. This might take a bit too long for my tastes, but as long as there are spritesheets of them out there, I think I'll be okay. Sonic Chao is going to be a pain in the next doing those rotations.....

I might need help with the Chao Walker skins. And I STILL need a good design for the Cat Chao Walker. (And maybe a Hero Chao walker, too..)

We'll see what I do next. I've got a lotta work ahead of me.


And before anyone says it, These were already my priorities before I took up the Bubukan request. (Except for Gizmo, but I should have had him fixed up properly on his final release.)

Left or right? They both look good to me, yet something looks off about both of them. I keep thinking they both are natural, but they wouldn't really look right in the game. I dunno.

But then again, Left kind of goes hand in hand with the front right stance, in terms of where his shoes are facing.

Left sprite is more accurate to the other rotations.

Also, Dark/Hero chao sound effects don't need to be louder in the slightest.

I must say. Gizmo's sprites are looking out to be much better than before. I've found many off spots, inaccuracies and overall weird things that I couldn't get to look right before, and fixed them up.

The thing I'm REALLY happy about is his back right sprite. It ALWAYS bugged me before, because I couldn't get it to look right at ALL. That was the best I could do until now, where it looks much more like the other sprites. I also like how he's not standing on his toes in the front sprite. And also that tail was a result of laziness in the old one. Finally fixed that up. And finally, his ears look more cattish.

This will really help me.

Well, just as I expected, the sprites are ready to be converted to 8bit now. Like I said, once I fix those five sprites, the rest should be easy. :p

But y'know what? Before I do that, I'm gonna start on MegaGizmo. And THEN I'll convert them to 8bit!

Hopefully it won't be too long now. I plan to re-release Gizmo and MegaGizmo along with the Chao Trio (And possibly an update for my music pack) all at the same time, and then work on the rest of the skins.

Question. I gave Gizmo a second death cry. They're set on random, of course. They work when you are killed by something or someone, but when you kill yourself via console, no sound plays. I'm curious as to why this is?

EDIT: Actually, it's more than just the console. If you fall off a cliff, drown, melt, etc. It won't play at all.

You may want to get rid of that shading on the helmet and stuff. It doesn't really look 8-bit if you're using more than 6 colors.

I could always give the sprites a different name.

but I highly doubt anyone would use it because it wouldn't look right in the game. You wouldn't be able to tell which weapon he has, and he'd stand out as being the only shaded thing in the game. Though I do like his shaded sprites better. Hence this quote.

Half the point of turning him 8bit is so that he can change colors. There are only two colors that change depending on what weapon you have; the shaded sprites have neither.


And, I kinda meant a more personal thing rather than uploading it to Spriters-Resource. (I also never played the actual Skull Tag.)

Yeah, so, I'm a bit later than I'd have liked, but I finished MegaGizmo. I might end up tweaking his firing frames a bit before releasing him, seeing how his foot is actually above the ground when it was originally supposed to be just stuck outward. When I had the sprite lowered a bit to look properly, it looked just fine in software mode. But in opengl, his feet go into the ground. Seeing how I'm an opengl user, I don't like to see that. I had the same problem for his walking frames, but less extreme.

I've also already gotten a bit of a head start on regular Gizmo. Can't say when it'll be ready, but I'll try to make it quick. My motivation's been off and on lately.

Yeah so I know it's been ages since I've even looked at this site. I'll get to finishing those skins whenever. I've been trying to finish up other stuff on my plate.

But, I've gone ahead and made this new music pack. (http://wadhost.fathax.com/files/RokkoChan-Music.zip) I made it after watching Kapus play a game called Rokko Chan. It looked fun, and I wanted to try it. The music was so good, I really had to make a song pack out of it. I went through a lot of trouble making this (mainly because sound test requires you to have beaten the game first.) but I'm satisfied.

Well..Seeing how I'm "Back" now, I think I should go ahead and start finishing up some of these skins, here. These are all the skins I left hanging.

Chao Walkers: I was working on both of these at the same time. Progress was real slow, seeing how big they were. I managed to get a couple rotations for the regular walker, and some attacking frames for the dark walker. That's about it.

Power Protoman: The very first skin I tried to make. It didn't work out well because I didn't organize the sprites needed, so my editing sheet was very cluttered and lackluster. Not easy to work with. I ended up abandoning this project to go and make Darkwing Duck, my first skin released. It's too bad; Power Protoman actually looks pretty cool.

GBA Knuckles: I probably could have finished this easily if I actually ever got around to working on it. Poor, neglected Knux.

Speaking of neglected, did anyone even notice Bubukan there?


So yeah, this isn't even counting all the 0% completed stuff on my To Do list. I didn't even look into starting those, yet.
Right now, I'm not sure what I wanna do. Should I finish these old skins here? Or should I abandon them and let someone else take up the job, and start fresh with something new? (If I'm to continue working on the Chao Walker, I will no doubt need some help.)

It's looking good. I tried to stick to the original Protoman sprites so that it wouldn't look too much like a Megaman edit. I would honestly be able to finish spriting it today if I didn't have to get off pretty soon.

though his first movement animation from behind makes it look like his entire arm popped off. fifth coloum, secound row sprite. i ain't saying it looks bad, just it looks rather wierd.

Well that's kind of how it was with the original sprite. It's just that his arm is so much bigger here that it looks weird.
Though that's an older sprite. I might be able to make it look a little better.

I think the problem is that the shield is BEHIND the arm, when in reality it should be in FRONT.

With Mega Man the detached fist isn't "detached" as it's still on his back, whereas with Proto Man it looks like his shield sliced his arm in half.

If you move the shield I'm sure it will look much better.

I'm surprised nobody told me that every last one of my download links are dead. Now I have to reupload everything; Wadhost got rid of all my files and Sendspace and Mediafire are apparently temporary. (and the latter wasn't really cooperating since I don't have an updated version of Firefox) So I hope you all don't mind 4shared links. As far as I know those stay forever.

He's still using megaman's waist, he has a stripe whereas mega has the pants.

His scarf could use some work, sometimes it just doesn't show up. E.g. C8C2 and E8E2, C7C3 and E7E3 D5, F5.

Other than that a pretty funny and cool skin.

Yeah, some sprites ended up keeping Megaman's waist. I didn't bother to re-edit the older sprites, and just kept going. Thanks though.

As for the scarf, I pretty much left it as is. His bulkiness kind of hides it. I could probably make it longer though..

I've restarted working on the Gizmo Class like I promised, and I'm almost ready to send it into the CSCC Expansion (http://cutstuff.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3118). I've decided that I'm going to do some changes to the whole weapons selection I had planned out for him.

Now, I've decided to not let him equip any of the robot masters weapons. Instead, he will have items that change the weapon in his Hand Cannon, to reflect upon how it's actually supposed to be used.

There are other things in there that I'm not sure about. For instance, the Kitty Whistle. I might just have him start out with it, in that case, or have him not be able to pick up Eddie call at all and replace it with the whistle. (the latter is probably a better idea, considering the fact that more than 70% of the things Eddie drops are useless to him anyway) And then there are the upgrades. I've already started on the Eternal Claws. Heck, it's in perfect working order, actually. (I just need to make the sprites for it.) But I'm wondering if it's gonna be a stretch? I mean, I love the idea of him being able to get upgrades to his weapons, but I'm not sure if others will think the same.
I'd also made an alt.fire for the claw gloves, but I lost it. I probably won't bring it back, but I'm thinking of one for the Eternal Claws. Maybe a dashing move..?

Also the rocket launcher. As awesome as that'd be, I have no idea when I'll get around to that.


So yeah, that's about where I am on this.

I like the ability of limited-yet-specialized upgrades for the Hand Cannon. The claws, on the other hand, feel like you sort of "tacked on" a melee attack just because you could. Heck, you can't even think of a suitable alt fire for them! (Don't try and say the dash was an idea either, because everyone and their grandma is dashing or flying around these days.) If you really want the claws THAT badly, I'd suggest making them an alt-fire for the Hand Cannon, but otherwise they can be easily missed.

Now I have a few suggestions, but before I start note that I said "I have a few suggestions". Anything I am about to put here is just what I said it was: a suggestion. You're free to take 'em or leave 'em, but don't attack me or use unpleasant words or chase me down and bludgeon me to death with a pickaxe.

The first thought is to move the (somewhat unneeded) claw attack to the Hand Cannon's alt-fire slot, and to have the Hand Cannon perform all of its necessary actions through the main firing mode. Because your weapon is for the most part a charging one, this is not only possible but it's also relatively problem-free. Or, if you were an evil mad scientist like myself, you could instead make the Eternal Claws an alt-fire for a faster charging version of the Chaos Cannon... but I would only do this if you made that sexy Fusillade attack, heh heh heh.

The third thought is to disable Gizmo's ability to pick up copy weapons altogether and instead make Kitty Whistle his only means of obtaining the alternate attacks. Now I know what you're thinking, "Gizmo is effectively screwed since Eddie is only on a handful of maps!" Here's the trade-off: Kitty Whistle is the replacement for Eddie but also for buster upgrades and the Super Adaptor item! Not only does it give Gizmo more of a fighting chance, but it also lets Gizmo trade his "buster" when he picks up a buster item just like if Mega Man were to trade his buster.

One final suggestion, and then I'm done here. Earlier you mentioned the possibility of Kitty Whistle not giving the player items, but instead attacking rivals. If you could make a homing Chao Attack (akin to Cream's in Sonic Advance 2 and 3) that uses Kitty's sprites, it would make a fantastic replacement for the Treble Sentry and Tango Roll items. This ties in perfectly with my earlier idea of Gizmo receiving his buster upgrades from buster items, since Gizmo will also receive a support from Kitty when he picks up a support item.

I did think of an altfire for them, but I figured that it might seem a little awkward. Plus I lost all the work I'd done on it, somehow, and I don't feel like going through all that again.
And I didn't slap it on just because I could. I added it because the Claw Gloves were Gizmo's original main weapon before he created the Hand Cannon. And yes, I know, the dashing idea wasn't really original, but it was a suggestion.

Well the Eternal Claws wasn't exactly an "Instant Death Weapon". It's just got longer range than the Claw Gloves, but not infinite. The rapid fire is where it's real power is at. It's almost like you have fastweapons on. And lastly, it allows you to climb walls. Something like that isn't exactly something you'd want to waste on Instagib, since that isn't very often played. Though I CAN make an instagib version of the Eternal Claws. That would be nice.

Like I said, I already planned to disable copy abilities altogether. (Though the different versions would have been interesting.) and I probably didn't say directly, but I wanted to make Kitty Whistle is only means of getting the upgrades (and rocket launcher, if I make that.) I had considered making other powerups like that give you some of the upgrades, but this is probably a better idea.

Well I'm not going to sumo wrestle you over this, but the way I see it there are two options. The first option would be to end up making the claws a second weapon after all, as it allows for easy replacement by the Eternal Claws upgrade. The second option would be to make the ten-weapon assortment ANYWAY (five cannons with two claw attacks each) and to put in the Eternal Claws climbing function a la Roboenza or YD Snake Man. This means that the attack would essentially double as the climbing mechanic, and you'd only need the one button to do both commands.


Other than that I certainly see where you're coming from, and I wish you luck on your project.

True, not all charges do have to take a while. And thinking of it now I could still have it charge while being an altfire, anyway. I think it'd just get in the way if it were a charged main attack.

The charge was supposed to be pretty long, but I haven't decided on exactly HOW long yet since I haven't really made it. It was originally supposed to damage you if you ended up firing with your back against a wall.
Having it as an instagib weapon would be both awesome and hilarious.

Well, I'll see where I go with the two clawed weapons. I'm slowly getting some new ideas for them, anyway.

Okay so I was making progress. Plasma Cannon now has a crash bomb explosion effect, as suggested. Flame Cannon has been created. It spread fires like Bass Buster, and I'm still tweaking the flame thrower alt so that it isn't OP. Frost Cannon has been created, and it works like it should..with the exception of a glitch that causes the target to be completely invincible to everything sometimes. I think it's because I used the damagetype WilyIce for it to work. And the Claw Gloves let you defend as an alt. Works like a temporary Protoshield.




And then Skulltag completely borked on me.
When I try to open it, I can see that it doesn't load all of the files for MM8BDM, the thing glitches out while loading, and it caused several errors that caused the class to not work, and without anything extra loaded I just got a weird pixelated screen with a doom styled menu. I know something like this has happened to me before, but I don't remember how to fix it.

EDIT: Okay, it just randomly fixed itself after a while. I have no idea what the crap just happened, but I'm gonna be more careful from now on. That was rather alarming.

Well, I think I've done my work for today. I still haven't really fixed the Frost Cannon's glitch. I think the only way for me to do that is to make a new damagetype--which SHOULDN'T be a problem, but I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to do that in CSCC. I could be wrong though.

In other news, the claw gloves' guarding works just about perfectly now. Only thing is, I'm wondering if I should make it so that he has to stay in place while doing it. As it stands now he can essentially pull out an invisible protoshield that defends his entire frontside rather than most of his left, and walk at the same time. I'm not sure whether that's op or just fine.

I also went through the bosses just to test how he fairs against them.

I know that CSCC can implement spare sprites during certain attacks, because Laggy Blazko moves his arms when throwing his Nade Spam but holds a gun when firing the Tommy Gun. If you were to make "guarding" sprites for Gizmo then other players would be able to visibly notice him guarding, in which case it wouldn't be super-ridiculous.

Also, stemming from the "guarding" ability, it would balance the weapon more if the guarding had a sort of "cooldown" or waiting period between "I stopped guarding leave me alone" and "Cut Man is here to take his cut", because if it didn't have a sort of delay after lowering the guard you could theoretically waltz right into a crowd of people with the guard, wait until only one or two people are left standing, then just charge right in and rip their faces apart with the claws and there would be no penalty whatsoever.

Yeah, I've been wanting to do both. I've been trying to get the cooldown to work, but I was having trouble with it not glitching up. I just saved it as it is now as a sort of checkpoint, so if something happens I won't have to do the whole thing over.

Actually, Blazko currently only fires his gun. I might see if I can re-add his two firing sprites, but I originally removed his "not holding gun" sprites because they didn't seem to work half the time.

Chao Walkers: I was working on both of these at the same time. Progress was real slow, seeing how big they were. I managed to get a couple rotations for the regular walker, and some attacking frames for the dark walker. That's about it.

Power Protoman: The very first skin I tried to make. It didn't work out well because I didn't organize the sprites needed, so my editing sheet was very cluttered and lackluster. Not easy to work with. I ended up abandoning this project to go and make Darkwing Duck, my first skin released. It's too bad; Power Protoman actually looks pretty cool.

GBA Knuckles: I probably could have finished this easily if I actually ever got around to working on it. Poor, neglected Knux.

Speaking of neglected, did anyone even notice Bubukan there?


So yeah, this isn't even counting all the 0% completed stuff on my To Do list. I didn't even look into starting those, yet.
Right now, I'm not sure what I wanna do. Should I finish these old skins here? Or should I abandon them and let someone else take up the job, and start fresh with something new? (If I'm to continue working on the Chao Walker, I will no doubt need some help.)

I'm thinking about getting back to working on Knuckles. That's a request that both Kapus and I have been putting off for years, it feels. I'm also probably going to update Gizmo again, because while I was making his class I noticed how I messed up the aligning in his sprites. There's also something I'd wanted to add to it. In fact I'd upload an update right now, but it's late and I'm too tired/lazy at the moment.  :|

Well, it looks like I'll be getting active around here again. Hopefully I'll get stuff done quickly, 'cause there are other stuff I wanted to get done as well.

Before this thread dies again, lemme give an update.

Small things first. I remembered the reason why I left Gizmo's sprite alignments as is; because they were kind of awkward otherwise in Software, but don't really change in OpenGL. (for the most part, though if you're on something like a linedef bridge, you can see how it really is.) I could go back and forth and try to get em just right, but I dunno. We'll see.

Anyway, the main reason I'm here is Knuckles. I haven't been able to get as much work done on him as I would have liked, but as usual, I want to find some, and line up the sprites I've got down first before turning them 8-bit.

Walking down is a work in progress, I can handle that somewhat easily. (EDIT: Finished that. Now all I need to do is recolor this to 8bit.) But what bothers me though is the back damaging. It's too focused on one direction; I couldn't really find any that fit. Will this do?

There are also some extra sprites on the side, provided by MetalManu. I don't know if I'll actually use them or not, but I might edit them a bit to fit in better with the others.

Firing frames are extremely inconsistent through rotations, but I'm assuming it was left that way on purpose because you didn't want to make a whole bunch of new sprites.

There was nothing really WRONG with him, actually. Aside from the alignment of the sprites, which I just decided to give up on messing with and leave as is, I added something new to him. It's not much really, but I didn't feel right adding it to his class but not releasing it in his skin pack. :p

As long as it looks okay in game, it doesn't matter which way you arrange them. I only use the template for lining my sprites up properly, but I've kinda memorized it so I don't need it anymore.

Just want to start off by saying that color scheme you chose is pretty ugly.

It's entirely up to you if you want to make it or not. Being a Sonic fan character that most people probably don't care about, it might not get a lot of downloads, but it's your skin and your skin topic so you can make and release what you want. As I usually say, "If it pleases even a minimal amount of people, it's still worth doing"

Now, to answer your question directly, no. I wouldn't want you to make a skin of Smash. I'm not really desiring a Smash skin or any fan character skin for that matter, but I honestly don't care either way.

I try to download as many skins as I can myself, as long as they aren't huge or broken in any way. I'm actually kind of tired of Gizmo and his RPG maker sounds, so if this means you'll use a different skin then I'll download.

Also, the RPG maker sounds are rather loud and annoying and are out of place in MM8BDM. Why don't you use, I dunno, actual Mega Man pain sounds? They exist.

I only used the RPGmaker sounds to differentiate regular Gizmo with MegaGizmo. I'm not really sure why I used them on the chao, though.

I really don't want this thread to get left so far behind in the pages, but I don't wanna make a useless bump, either. So I'm just gonna update on what I've been doing.

From the above posts you can probably guess that I've been working on a skin of Smash. I have a couple of uses for this skin, but let's not go there now. It's been a long time yet he's still not finished. Almost, but not yet. I'm at the most tedious part of making a skin. Turning it 8bit.

Doing this with Gizmo is one thing, but Smash uses way more colors than he does. (Or rather, several shades of the same color.) So, this ends up being very time consuming.

Speaking of Gizmo, I had just recently remembered the solution to the problem I had with his walking sprites, the thing I was trying to fix with this recent update but didn't. But I don't want to give him a 6th update for a minor detail. People'll start complaining about having to redownload it so many times. similar to a certain issue some people have been having lately.


As for other skins, I've received a couple of requests. I was asked to make Blaze The Cat, by none other than, well, herself (http://cutstuff.net/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2101).

Also, Jafar asked me to make Omochao, but I have no idea whether or not he was serious. I'll probably end up making it anyway, since I've already gotten 3 other chao skins done. (We'll have Neutral, Hero, Dark, Cat, and Omochao skins. That makes 5.)


And lastly, I'm gonna have to call off making Bubukan. It's clear that I am not getting anywhere on this skin, as I don't even have a single sprite of it saved on my computer. That request was made around the time I was working on the Chao Trio, so...yeah, I'm definitely not gonna be finishing this anytime soon.

EDIT: Also, I've been thinking about revamping that GBA Tails skin. There's quite a bit of room for improvement, but 1) I'll have to ask for permission, and I don't know who made it. 2) I'm not quite sure if I'll have the time to do it.

Bluesiscooltoo is the one that made the Tails skin, though he has not been here since last year. If you're unsure about whether you should try it or not, you could try doing either Pocket Adventure Tails (who is 8-bit, but you'll have to create some custom sprites), or Tails in any of the Genesis-style games. I tried doing one of my own, actually, for DeathFox in Saxton Hale, but I could tell skinning was not for me, so I dropped the idea.

A genesis version of Tails would technically be easier to make, since it's already got most, if not all of the rotations accounted for. Still, I'm not really used to working with Genesis sprites.

He still uses a pretty hefty amount of colors. Three different shades of blue is kind of a lot. His darker shade could probably be replaced with the regular shade or black, depending on where it is. His lighter shade could be replaced with white or Weapon Color cyan, although the latter might be a bit jarring with some weapons.

Perhaps you could instead have a slightly different shade of cyan? One close to the weapon-switching color, but different enough to not change colors.

Yeah, that's what I was going to do until Kapus said I should get rid of both the light and dark shades of blue. :| Since the hair shine makes it seem more like his hair and not just some blue fluff hanging off his head, I guess I should probably re-add it.

Smash never wore a scarf. However, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. It might make up for the lack of interesting clothing design, that's for sure.

For me, I keep my skin collection small, since having so many skins actually increases the time needed to load a game. Although you'll likely still use the Gizmo skins, I'll grab Smash just in case.

Adding on to what I've got now, I have 4 requests and 2 of my own skins to finish.

So far, I think that Omochao and Charmy might be the easiest of the bunch. Omochao is just a matter of editing one of the many chao skins we have, and Charmy's already gotten all of his rotations in most of his sprites. (I think I might make Omochao fly for his walking frames, though.)

I'll probably need help with Silver and Blaze, though. At least Blaze.


Once I get some of these things out of the way, I'll release a big skin pack with all my released skins in it. I'll be updating them too, so don't miss it.

Okay so, I've updated the first post's "To Do List". I'm working on a set few things right now. Here's what I've got so far.

Now, Captain Falcon is going to need a lot more work put into him than the simple Power Protoman recolor used in Saxton Hale. I'm a tad bit nervous about the walking sprites, though.

Tomahawk Goetia is, (ahem) to be another skin used in Saxton Hale. That's why the second sprite of him has colored outlines. The only other change I'm considering giving him is a bigger axe. I WOULD give him long hair but I'm not really good with hair.

Omochao should be pretty easy to make. I just keep getting sidetracked whenever I begin working on him.

Blaze will be difficult. What you see there are some of the only sprites I had to work with. FORTUNATELY there are some walking sprites for one direction, but that's it.

Now Silver, I'm thinking that he should actually float instead of walk/run. That's about all I can say at the moment, except that I think he needs more cyan.

If you want to add a jump sound effect to a skin, just put this line in the SKININFO:

It's been a while since I last posted anything in here. I really haven't been doing much work on skinning due to focusing on a different project. Since I recently finished working on that, I've been trying to get back into this. I've got a lot of skins on the line, here.

I've got 7 skins on my hands. At least one of them is a collaboration, so I don't have to do ALL the work. But I still have to constantly keep up with it if I want to help.

Aside from the collab, Captain Falcon is my first priority for now. I've managed to get all his rotations done for standing.

I may or may not actually follow through with having the rotations like this. Should I be classic and stick with the usual way of doing it, or should I be consistent and have the shoulder-pad on his right arm at all times?


Meanwhile, Omochao comes second, and should technically be the easiest skin to make out of all of these.

Once I finish making the propeller, it should be smooth sailing from there.


Tomahawk Goetia is technically a downloadable skin right now, but it was only to be used in the Saxton Hale mod, should Barbatos make it in. The reason he's still on the list, however, is because Accel wanted to try and edit him into an actual Barbatos skin. No idea how that's coming along since he hasn't gotten back to me yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing what he's got. If I need to, I'll try to pitch in as well, somehow.


Akuma is actually the closest to being complete out of everyone. But since Akuma was started on with the intentions of being a class in CSCC, a boss in the Saxton Hale mod, AND a regular skin in the Street Fighter X Megaman Expansion, there's still a lot of work to be put into this. Much more than the usual amount.

Man, I feel pretty bad for not really doing any skin work in so long. Captain Falcon's been sitting there collecting dust. I only progressed a minor amount since my last update. I've mainly been focusing on other projects and stuff, if I wasn't in a total unmotivated slump.  :|


Instead of getting any work done, it just started piling up higher. My 'To Do' List has extended.

Like I said about Captain Falcon, I really haven't made much progress since the last picture I uploaded. Since I wanted the sprites to be consistent with him, it's taking a wee bit longer than it normally would. But I'm mainly worried about the rotations for some of his attacks.

Tomahawk Goetia was already pretty much finished and ready to go, that is, if my Barbatos hale gets accepted in the first place. Accel wanted to spruce it up and make it look more like Barbatos. Haven't heard back from him since. I may end up trying to do that myself.

Omochao really shouldn't take too long. If I sit down and work on it for a while I should be done within a few days--minus the wind-up key on his back. I don't really have much of an idea of what I'm gonna do about that.

I haven't even looked at Blaze's skin since I put it on this list.

Silver looks like he'll be complicated. I'm not really confident that I can finish him.

I especially feel bad about Akuma, considering that I'm supposed to be working on him alongside Blaze, as a request for Messatsu at that. I wonder if he's worked on it either? I doubt it'll be ready in time for Mess' birthday, which is a shame.

Super Smash is another complicated one. I've got some serious editing to do for him.

I'm worried about Bill's rotations and damage sprites. I might have to make something up for the latter. Also since the first Contra had more sprites roughly around the same size, while Super C's were generally cleaner, I want to try to merge the two versions together for this skin.

Angry sun is actually already done. I just haven't given it the colors and turned it into a skin yet.

You might recognize Splice from one of my previous avatars. Main reason I decided to skin him was because of a class idea I came up with. I'll be making two versions of him: One with and without his weapons. Kinda like Gizmo, actually.

In comparison with the other three characters of mine, Keela just seems to come right out of the blue. She's one of my least used characters. Again, this was for a class idea. I think I'll make two versions of her, too. Her regular one, and her dressed up as Agrias Oaks from Final Fantasy Tactics. (She won't use that Ice Brand, however.)

The Ghost of Starman is another skin for Saxton Hale. FTX wanted me to help him with it, but why just stop there when I can hijack it and skin the whole thing myself? :p Real reason is that I don't really trust him to finish it, though. Running Starman is just so hilariously bad (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SoBadItsGood) I don't think I'd be able to take him seriously. And then there are the skins that I haven't actually decided on making yet. The two Gunstar heroes are some that I would definitely love to see. I'm not entirely confident that I could deal with the rotations yet, however.
Cloud down there is a chao that I raised in Sonic Adventure 2. He is an old veteran of my gardens, currently 4 years old on his 8th life. That and he still isn't perfect. I like him though. He's like my main guy. Anyway, his most memorable types were fly (his first and default) and run. I couldn't decide on which version I liked better, so I merged them together. He's supposed to have phoenix wings though, so I might go back and try to edit those in.



So yeah, that's about it. I've got a lot on my plate. I should probably start getting back to skinning these guys soon. ^^;

Like last time, progress has been painfully slow.

Doing rotations for Captain Falcon is surprisingly unmotivating. I really wanna get it over with, but the more I work on them the more I wanna do something else. :I So, I'm thinking that I'll just stop working on all the various attack frames for now and finish up with walking and pain sprites. After that I'll submit him to Balrog so we at least won't have to look at that ugly Power Protoman recolor anymore. (I finished the Falcon Kick so at LEAST he'll have that.) I'll deal with the rest of the stuff later. Any objections?

Blaze and I have been really lazy with Akuma. You'd think that with two people working on the same skin it should be finished in no time. Well, apparently "no time" is the amount of time put into working on him.

And then down there with the undecided, I tossed in all those chao because they were sitting in my dust covered To Do list on the first post. I'm debating over whether I should really do them all or not.

Gutswario has a visible cleft in his chin. That's a nice attention to detail.

Looking at the sheet, I think Gutswario can be easily finished in just a couple of hours or so. I think you can do it by the deadline.

I'm probably gonna go back and release (yet another) update to Gizmo's skin. I can't remember off-hand what, but there was something about it that's been bugging me. Like an inconsistency somewhere. Also I fixed MegaGizmo's walking so he has the bounce in his step in other rotations.


But that's just a heads up above the actual reason I came here this morning. I brought something up about him elsewhere, which I wish to share with you. (or you could just skip to the bottom if you don't wanna read all this.)

My series, from which Gizmo is from, has been a long one. When I first brought Giz here to MM8BDM, he technically had just turned 16, but was based off of his appearance in a project of mine in which he was 15 years old. In present times, he's 18.
Point is, I'm giving a handful of my characters some design updates to reflect their aging along my story-line. That goes for Giz, too.

With this new design update, I'm considering making a new skin for Older Gizmo. I probably won't make one for MegaGizmo though, (as it would be kinda pointless considering the only thing that'd change is his voice and size.) Once I have a design down, that will be the next skin I make.

Eeehhh....I don't think Silver's gonna be showing up anytime soon. I have little to no inspiration to work with him at this time, and I have other skins I want to work on.

I kinda like how it came out. I didn't want to go too far into a "New design" of sorts. After all, he's just a little older, not a completely different person.
The Megaman colors at the bottom don't seem much different than the original colors, mainly due to the blue on him being very similar. There isn't much cyan showing but I'm probably going to try and fix that by putting something on the back of his shirt.

W-Why does he have spiked knuckles in that dollmaker picture?

Anyways, the older sprite looks nearly identical to the original, aside from being slightly taller. I don't think this really warrants a new skin.

I've been very bleh towards working on pretty much anything, these days. I'm trying to fix that. I kinda tried with Gizmo back there, but I kinda failed at making a new design. I'll be honest; the main reason I wanted to make an older Gizmo skin was because I wanted to use a new set of voice clips for him to show that he doesn't still sound like a kid at the age of 18. Not the best of reasons, I know. If I can get a look down for him that isn't too similar to his current one, then I'll go ahead and make the skin anyway.

But that's not really the main reason I'm posting here. Looking back I realize that a few of my older skins could use some updates. MegaGizmo being one of them.

So yeah, that's what I've been doing today. I also started work on a brand new skin, but I was set back when I lost the spritesheet for it. It completely vanished off the face of existence and I don't know why. I didn't get very far but starting over still demotivates me.

He's still not quite level in the sprite on the far right, and his arms look a bit worse. His arms look best on the sprite to the far left.

Try to study the pose on the front/right sprite and picture how it would look from the front.

I wasn't confident that I could make him any smaller without distorting his face, since that was the only part that wasn't aligned perfectly. As for his arms, I guess they did look off, but I didn't like the way they looked originally. It looked lazy and not as consistent with the one on the far right. One arm is lower than the other, and one is further toward his back. Anyway, I tried again, and this is what I've got.

Oh man. I wanted to do way too much at once, it seems. I started working on skins, but then dumped that to go and work on sprites for another project which I had already temporarily abandoned after losing motivation after New Years, and now I'm being reminded that Akuma still needs to be finished so it's back to spriting again.

it looks like I'm on my own. I'm not too worried though; It's actually pretty easy stuff. (At least, the bare necessities are. Making rotations for most of the attacks are pretty tricky/difficult, even.) It's just that we've been so procrastinatious about it that nothing ever got done. So, here's what I've got to work with this week.

Thanks. It's easier than most skins I have to work with, that's for sure. The attacking frames are all that I'm worried about.
Also I didn't change his hair in those sprites at all; I took the head directly off from another, official sprite. All I changed were his eyes. Of course, that doesn't mean that the SFxMM sprites were perfect to begin with. I've noticed more than a few inconsistencies already.

I'm not really sure what the issue is with that. The sounds are giving error messages for whatever reason, even though they worked just fine. For me at least. Were you able to use it (or start the game, even) without any problems?

I don't really like the coloring on this, as much as I want a Lemming skin. You left plenty of shading on the skin and hair and just put blue/cyan/black over the rest. Looks kinda weird. Also, while having the weapon colors on the shirt/dress may look okay with the default blue and cyan, I think it'd probably look ugly with other colors.

I'd probably put blue and cyan on the shirt and hair respectively? Or just omit one of the colors entirely (it's not THAT big of a sin unless you choose to omit blue) and just have the shirt colored while the hair stays green.

EDIT: The custom sound effects are super adorable though <3
I'd go the extra mile and include taunt sounds from Lemmings 3D, though. Lots of funny potential there.

If this skin gets touched up a bit it's gonna be my new favorite!

To be honest, if this wasn't going to be a surprise skin I would have asked you about the color scheme. Deciding on a color was actually the hardest part about making this skin. I did try coloring his hair and his face, but that didn't look right either.
I'm totally not against going back and updating though; I already know the skin isn't perfect and could proobably use some other touch-ups, but I felt it was good enough to release.

When you've got the time, I wanna see your take on coloring him.

Oh trust me, I would have if I could find sounds from that game! I'd also have ripped them myself if the game could run on our computer.
I added a few bonus sounds though. Try falling off a cliff or dying from fall damage to see what I mean. =P

Make the gun cyan and the dress/shirt blue. The hair can stay green, although you might want to touch it up a bit manually so it doesn't look like a flat mushroom cap or something.

Technically, each 3 colour thing on the NES has 4 colours, including transparency.

Counting each layer's transparency, a 3 layer sprite has the potential for 12 different colours.

Of course, counting transparency for each layer is silly, so without transparency, a 3 layer sprite has the potential for 9 different colours.

So, for 3 layers, 9 is the maximum, NOT including transparency.

Yeah, I'm aware that you can go that far with different layers, and that can be used as an excuse somewhere, but I still don't think it looks that great in this case. Generally those layers would be used to add more useful colors to the sprite, but here it'd be hypothetically used for little, unnecessary bits of color shades, which looks a bit odd. It's always best to be as neat and resourceful with your color limitations as possible.

Also, wouldn't a 3 layer sprite flicker like heck when there's a lot going on? I don't think a sprite as tiny as that lemming would really warrant 3 different layers.

Okay I think I'm done with Lemmings for now. T'was fun. Go ahead and redownload them for four different lemming skins, now. (https://www.mediafire.com/?uuecvve3vdafjy4)

Designing the whole team was loads of fun, if not a bit tricky in some areas. But I think I'm satisfied with how they all came out.

finally updated the download for the skin pack. Now contains all of my recent skins plus all the updates to older ones.

EDIT: Too minor to make a full update about, but I updated the WIP's list. Much neater and easier to read, and also gives me a better idea on what I should probably be doing next.

Given the way he's turned sideways to extend his arm to that length, it's perfectly natural for his hand to be facing that way. Tried it myself; there's no strain in the arm or hand in this position. As a matter of fact, I felt more inclined to face it sideways than upright. He's fine.
