Title: How did you get into Mega Man and what game did you start?

i was wondering this because not everyone was born in the 80's or 70's here, i first played mega man x when i was about 7 and i had no idea of the classic mega man, about a few years later during my whole "flash content obsession" i found out about classic mega and after google searching for hours and hours i fell in love and bought the last copy of mega man anniversary collection

My first Megaman game was Megaman 3, at the age of 6~10 (I don't remember well). Since then, I got addicted to it.

A LONG time ago when we first got emulators, I think my siblings played MM2GB and after a long time I finally got into it.

When i was a little boy, me and my brother found megaman7 for rent in a store near us. (they rent out games instead of selling them... they decided to do that years after)
It was the first game i ever played myself. (mostly my brother wanted me to watch instead of play myself... and i liked that for some reason)

Still is the best game i ever played  :mrgreen:

I starting subscribing to Nintendo Power back in 92 and my first issue had a feature on Mega Man 4 and I thought it looked cooliosis.

I watched my brother play MM4 and 5 when I was young, but I sucked at games so I just watched him play it. Then as I grew older I emulated the whole collection and fell in love with the series.

I only started about 3 years ago, emulating MM1 off of someones recommendation.  Hard as hell, but that was about the time I did I Wanna Be The Guy too, so I was zoned at the time.

Well, It started Mega Man when I got a gba, and my first gba game was mmbn3, which I neglected to play the game for like, 2 years. After those two years I began to play it, and was engrossed in how awesome it was. i beat it (with all seven stars), and then I started on playing the classics (my first MM game was 9). I began to like it, and well, here I am now.

My first Megaman classic game was 9, which I started playing when I was 10.
First X game was Just two weeks ago due to lack of money and time... with X1.
First Battle Network game was BN3 when I was 5.

I first played MM1 when I was about 8. Thing is, this was in 1994, so by this time MM6 and MMX were out, but I had no idea.

I'm glad I started with the first one, coz I got the NES pretty late (when it was dwindling) but I'm glad I did because it's my fave console of all time. I played MM1-3 and MMX and X4 in my childhood, but the only one I ever clocked was MMX4 (I was 12 by this point). I got stuck before Yellow Devil on MM1, stuck on the wall laser dome bomb thing boss in MM2, and the last two Doc Robot stages in MM3.

I'm glad I found the emulators in 2009, because it not only let me relive the classics (and finally beat them) but to also play the ones I never got to play. Ha ha ha, my childhood dream came true! When I was a kid, I wished that in future I could play any NES game I wanted for free (and SNES or even Sega if I wished). Kudos to my kid-self, the dream came true! lolol.  :mrgreen:

My brother had emulated all 6 NES games. I would watch him play it a lot.
Eventually I tried it out myself. I instantly fell in love.

I think I played 5 first. Not sure, but I tried all the others afterward so it doesn't really matter.

i played megaman 7 at a friends house once.
at first i thought "megaman? that sounds cheesey and lame"
then i was like "holy crap this is amaaazing!"
i loved the character designs, even though i only ever saw the first 4 robot masters back then, i didn't see the rest until a few years later.
i couldn't beat a single boss but i loved playing it and i was determined! i managed to finally beat cloudman with the aid of a lot of e-tanks.
i only beat it 4 years ago thanks to the rise of emulators

My first one was actually a flash game from that Newgrounds site.
I played it back in 2002, and then quickly grew really interested, especially after watching some of the flash movies that people made of the series.
I didn't play an actual Megaman game 'till 2007 though, which was the very first one.

The earliest I can recall meeting the "Blue Bomber" for the first time was at my local dentist's office when I was 7, where I played a copy of Anniversary Collection. All I can remember was playing MM1, choosing Cut Man's stage...and landing in a pit of spikes after being hit by one of those propeller enemies. :lol:  Some years later, after my discovery of ROMs and emulators, my love of the series was fully established.

I was 6 or 7 and my cousin had MM1. I remember playing Guts Man's stage and thinking that it was the hardest thing imaginable what with the moving platforms that dump you, and that clearly this was a game for big kids and serious gamers.

The only way I found out about Megaman is through MKF. I just entered World 3 and went "WTF IS THIS". Played around, thought its was pretty awesome, searched "Megaman" and found out about the series. As of now, I have MM2, 3, 9, and 10. Thank you, MKF.  :mrgreen:

I don't remember how exactly I got into it. But I believe the first game I played was Megaman 2. I always started with Crashman, even though I could rarely ever beat him the first few times I played. I don't know why, I hardly ever tried anyone else first. Maybe it was because of the music? Or the first few parts of the stage was just fun to me? (once the birds show up, my stress valve always immediately began to boil.) I don't know. But later I began to occasionally play Megaman 3 and 5. With 3, I don't know who I usually used to start with. It was either Gemini Man or Magnet Man. I just remember usually going through both of them. Oh, and sometimes Snake Man. In 5, I always, always went to Star Man first. Then Gravity Man, and I never really got much farther than that. (Not that I couldn't beat Gravity Man, I just never really progressed.) I also began to play 4 a lot more often than 3, always going to either Pharaoh Man or Dive Man's stage first.

Only game I'd really actually beat was Megaman 2. I never even touched Mega Man 6. Still haven't, but soon will. I had only played Megaman 1 once until recently. Thought it was too hard or something. (That game IS pretty difficult at some points.)

My friend that used to live near me, he was known for buying every nintendo game that comes out, came to my house one day and we where playing gameboys and I noticed he had megaman xtream (storm eagle was the most memorable one for me) and I played it for a while, after he left to go home, he accidently left his megaman xtream 2 game and I played it for about a week. Never beaten it (I used a ROM and tried to face sigma's final form with a invincability gameshark code, all I have to say is, HOW THE HECK ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO BEAT HIM!!!) And thats pretty much how I got into megaman

Nonsense! When you're young your brain is ready to learn. It's the best time to get used to hard ass video games. In today's world all you get is easy 3d cover based shooters, and any time a tough as nails indie game shows up it gets shoved in favour of gears of halo black ops  :(

Then.. I saw Mega Man NT Warrior on Kids' WB..

..Then my sister bought me Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue Version as a Christmas present when I was in 5th grade.

Well, I'm a bit of a youngster, so it's probably different from most of ya.

The words of Mega Man first reached my ears when I was talking to some of my best internet friends, and basically, I was asking them which video game antagonist was their favorite.  So, I listed some of the basic ones, with a brief description, Sonic, Mario, NiGHTS, Zelda, you know.  And one of my friends--his screen name was War Panda--pointed out one thing, with the following sentence.

"Don't forget Doctor Wily!"

Since then, it's only gone uphill.  I kept hearing people blab about the Mega Man games, in all their glory.  In addition, due to my listening habits, I also heard some of the soundtrack prematurely--although, with all the MM2 Wily's Castle remixes out there, I suppose I could expect it.

Finally, after messing around in Mega Man's gameplay mode in Super Mario Bros. Crossover for the umpteenth time, I caved.  I logged onto chat, and I asked my friends which one I should get.  They all recommended Mega Man 2, as a way to ease into a difficult series...and, well, here I am, I suppose:  A Hardcore-Gamer, 8-Bit-Crackhead, Mainstream-Mega-Man Fanatic.

Warning Boring story approaching. + wall of text
I first played megaman battlenetwork at a friends house. I didn't really understand the concept. I just thought it was some guy in armor that had a gun for a hand.
Well years pass and I get a gameboy advance... about a month after the DSi was released. One of the first games I got was Megaman Battle network 5 team Protoman.
Time passes I discover nintendo8.com and play the heck out of Megaman 1, 2, and 6. then I Purchased MMBN5 colonel, and MMZ2.

Oh and IWBTG probably helped my intrest in 8bit stuff.

I watched a ton of Mario parodies on Newgrounds when I was younger, and I eventually came upon Megaman parodies.

There was one game on there (I forget which one) which got me hooked.

I was also a member of Gamefly at the time, and I happened to type in "Megaman" in the search bar.  On there, I found a copy of Anniversary collection, and from there I started on Megaman 2.

Needless to say, I had the most fun of my life up to that point.

I had Mega Man 5 for the NES basically since we've had an NES, which is pretty much longer ago than I can remember.  We'd rent the others and we got 6 when it came out.

I played my first Megaman game when I was about 5. Megaman: Wily's Revenge for GB it was. Around 1999, My uncle brought a friend over because he was leaving for Military school. The dude gave us his Entire NES collection. He had Megaman 4, and Megaman 6 (Though my uncle said he had all of them). Ever since then I have been playing Megaman.

I'm the youngest of my siblings and I have 3 older brothers. They all loved playing Megaman so it's always been a part of my life. I remember I started singing Flashman's theme while my brothers were playing MM2, and they just looked at me and stared. I felt terribly awkward.

As for my first game, I played Megaman a couple of years ago. Decided to try to go through all of them in order, just Classic and X series for now. Being the youngest meant that I didn't really get to play games, just watch, so I'm kind of a late bloomer.

I had it since i was 8.

Here was how u git into it:

I was at a store when i was 8, Then i saw " Megaman " and i got my Mom to buy it and i played it Straight away, It was fun and i got my mom into buying MM2.

Here was how my Little Autistic brother got into Megaman:

He was born when MM3 was Released, And my mom got him MM7 when he was 4. And i helped him out, And me and him started to cerate Robot masters. ( He started to speak when he was 3 )

MegaMan1 on the GameCube in 2005 was my first, but I didn't relly get into it untill 2009 with MegaMan9, and the X series in 2010 with Xtreme 2 for the GBC. Excellent games indeed.

Well, I only discover Mega Man about 3 years ago. My brother and I were watching some stuff on Youtube and came across the cartoon. We got curious and looked up a wiki, then the next thing we knew, we'd bought the Anniversary collection for the GameCube. I tried MM3 first and absolutely loved it, so I quickly got 9(I got wifi on my Wii just to get it) and of course 10 when it came out.

I've just now tried the X and Zero series and I love them both. It's strange though, for years I could never make a solid decision when ever I was asked what my favorite game series was, then Mega Man pops into my life and now I have a set favorite.

I had never played megaman in the nes console (but I have that console, saved somewhere in my house :mrgreen: ). I discovered megaman watching mm10 videos. So I searched more info and I found that megaman 10 is only available on wii console  :cry: so I searched megaman roms (I had previously downloaded 40 rom for my mobile phone) and I began to play MM2. The rest is other story...

At age 7 or 8, I think. My dad rented me Megaman 7 and the fever began. Later, when the Anniversary Collection for the Gamecube came out, I got the chance to beat all the others.

I also traded one of my GB games for MM1 (GB) after beating 7 for the SNES, and only much later found out it had sequels, but never got my hands on any.  :(

For me it started with seeing Megaman 9 on the new releases on the wii shop thingy. Then, months later (don't know how many) I decided to get the game for some reason. Started with concreteman and it was hell hard! (No really, I fell into a pit on my 1st few tries) but for some reason it seemed to be enjoyable. Such a hard game at 1st, but now it's about my level.

Later on in that year, I was given a free NES game worth 500 wii points. Since I already had Super Mario Bros. I thought of what else to get and decided to get MM2. Great game to play. From then on, I somehow became addicted to an awesome series that I was missing out on for many years.

Somewhere in october/november I finally got MM10, and that's my favorite game at the moment of the MM series. (I wish I could get anniversary collection)

I remember people kept making Youtube poops of the cartoon. I knew Mega Man was a game franchise, but I never bothered looking it up until i saw them, my logic being "If a game franchise had a terrible cartoon, it MUST be great!"

So I looked up a wiki on the wiki index, found the knowledge base, and spent a few minutes looking. Then I bought the anniversary collection.

My first Mega Man game was Mega Man x6. I never defeated shield shelldon or ground scaravich <.< it was when i was 4.

The second one was Mega Man X. When i played it, i recognized it instantly by the 8 Mavericks, and then i started searching The Mega Man game i played when i was 4. Discovered it in youtube by all the megaman mavericks rush video when i was 8.

Then i played megaman 2, megaman 3...megaman 6, megaman 7, megaman and bass, megaman 8, X2...X6, then MMX8, and mm9, after i played mmx7 and finally megaman 10 (my prefered one).

Little ago i played Mega Man zero collecion in my Dsi xl with mmzx and mmzxa.

I got into Mega Man by hearing about it. I got an emulator, started on Mega Man 1, and loved every minuite of it. However, the FIRST Mega Man game I've ever played is Mega Man Soccer. I kind of forgot about it when my brother moved out, taking the SNES with him (jerk).

MM1, Obiously! I got a dvd reader from my parents, and also got a dvd disk with it, on the disk,theres was a lot of NES games, including MM1!

Mega Man 1 because I thought I might as well start where it started. Bad idea, I chose Ice Man first T.T
My sister had Z4 oh the GBA and she played it ALL THE TIME so I decided I should try and get into it to.
This is also the reason I have no social life, friends, or anything really....

Edit: When I was like, 4 I had an NES an like, 20 games. One of them might have been mega man so I DUNNO!

Mine was this arcade game, I think called Mega Man: The Power battle or something. My local YMCA bought this arcade system that basically had no quarter slot but instead you just pushed the start button and you got one credit. It had a ton of other games as well, such as Ghost and Ghouls and Bubble Bop. I just remember a lot of people online talking about Mega Man before, so I thought why not try this one. Well a friend of mine told me it was two players, so we ran through it together. I picked Mega Man and he went with Proto Man. It was fairly short, as it only featured the robot masters and Wily, no actual stages. I decided I wanted to try it more, so I got on my Wii and saw "Mega Man 9" for sale, and bought it. That basically set me for the series. I checked online for which other ones people recommended, and it seemed like people were split between MM2 and MM3 so I just got both of them. That's basically it.

First Megaman game I played is the arcade version, Mega Man 2: Power Fighters. Played it on the MAME Emulator as a Kid.

3 years ago I played the first on an emulator....it was a sprite hack that was the infamous mega girl. Half a year later I learned it was Mega MAN and played megaman 2 and megaman 3 with abused save states. Then I played 4, 5 , 6 and couldn't beat any stages WITH save states. Then I tried the megaman games in 2009 again i abused saved states again, but soon I maned up and played with out them and beat them. Now to me, megaman 1-6 are not as NES HARDCORE hard as I used to think. I also played Megaman power battlefightersblahblahblah in a dentist clinic in 09 and I was owned by this little kid.....CURSE YOU RANDOM LIL KID!

Megaman is up there with Mario and Zelda for me.

You know I knew about Mega Man when I was younger, but I never got really into it until like 2 to 3 years ago. The first instance I remembered Mega Man was when I went to a Youth Center during the summer during my elementary school years. They had a SNES and games which included Donkey Kong Country, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and then finally Mega Man X. I never got myself to playing that game and just simply watched the others play it even as far as fighting Vile the second time. It was different than all the games I owned for my N64 and I thought it would probably be way to hard for me try. Afterwards, I went to some convention like shopping place and saw a used copy of Mega Man Legends for the N64 and asked my dad that I wanted that game making it my first and only Mega Man game I owned for a long time. However, I was never any good at that game and didn't get into it as much as I have hoped. I thought the controls and game itself were complicated and only really made it as far as fighting Tron for the first time. So I just ended up just playing on the other save file playing and getting hit by cars in the city and just run around exploring never really accomplishing anything. Then after that years later I got introduced to the Megaman Battle Networks series through the show and saw other instances of Mega Man in gaming magazines and other thing never really getting my attention so much.

Probably what got me sortof into Mega Man finally was probably either when I heard about Mega Man 9 and listened to the soundtrack on youtube or when I first saw a few of the bosses in gameplay videos of Brutal Mario (a Mario hack filled with bosses from several different video game series) The first classic game I played in the series was probably Mega Man & Bass (even though at the time I couldn't beat anything past the intro level...). However, even when I started getting into Mega Man I couldn't get myself the cdnfidence to playing Mega Man games beyond 1 and 2 especially Mega Man 9 since I heard from people it was like the hardest classic Mega Man game ever. So I just settled playing just the demo of Mega Man 9 on my Xbox 360 until Mega Man 10 was released. Thus, I promised to myself if I could get every single achievemnent in Mega Man 10 including I would try Mega Man 9 and get every achievement for it. Surprisingly to myself I did get every achievement (even though it was mostly done on easy with Bass xD) and I went on to Mega Man 9 and gotten every achievement for that. Then finally after that, I made the decision that I would play and beat fully every single Mega Man game in the classic series including the Gameboy series and Wily Wars and went on into becoming a big fan of the whole series as a result of that.

So yeah that is pretty much my entire story on how I known about Mega Man and how I got into it xD.....but its too bad I couldn't got into it the Mega Man series any sooner ._....well better late than never I guess.

Well I was at my neighbor's house with my parents and uncle.  At the time I was looking for sonic the hedgehog 1 on virtual console on my neighbor's wii.  Under sonic the hedgehog there was MegaMan 2 on the list my uncle said:" Holy shit! Is that MegaMan 2!?" and my neighbor got all excited.  They said I should get it but I said that I wanted to get STH 1.  They made me get MegaMan anyway I thought MegaMan 2 would be lame. But then I started playing it, turned into a MegaMan maniac, and got obssesed with it and heard of MM10 downloaded it on my Wii discovered my fav character Protoman(he wsn't my favorite at the time) then I watched Clement and Nintendocaprisun's LPs of MegaMan games, got even more obssesed got Anniversary Collection when I was 12. (Problaby the last copy in existence) I am planning on downloading MM9.

  (I was 12 when I played MM2 and the year was 2010 and a couple of months before MM10 was released)

I first Megaman I played was II for the Game boy when I turned 6, I liked it a lot because it was fun and not too difficult (I didn't even know what difficulty was) not to mention when I reached the final boss I was like,

.....whoa.........

I really started with MegaMan X 1-3 and MM7 on SNES which we owned as little kids but were never able to beat.   :mrgreen:  Finally, when MMBN3 was released with two versions, my brother got one and I got the other, and ever since that game I've been hooked on all Megaman games  :lol:
