Title: Help: Using Doomseeker for Megagame and other IWADs
Post by: Anonymous on January 06, 2011, 08:45:42 PM
Hello,

I don't know if I'm posting this on the right forum, but I might as well give it a try.

I use Skulltag 0.98d (which comes bundled with Doomseeker 0.7b) frequently for non-MM8BDM multiplayer matches, since it's the version most servers are using. The thing is MM8BDM uses Skulltag 0.98d-alpha-r2999, so I always have to reconfigure my Doomseeker to change the executable every time I want to play megagame.wad and viceversa.

I've noticed the "Testing Releases" option of Doomseeker, which I believe lets me run multiple test releases of Skulltag (like 0.98d-alpha-r2999), so I tried copying my MM8BDM folder to said test release folder, which in theory would let me run the Skulltag alpha.

The thing is, whenever I try to enter a megagame.wad server, I get the following message:

"Client binary cannot be obtained for game: Skulltag. Error while creating a shell script"

Is it possible to do what I'm trying to do? As I said before, I'm running Doomseeker 0.7b.

PS: Also, if there's any 0.7b users there, are you able to save your buddy lists? Mine resets to blank every time I reenter Doomseker (the .ini is saved with the added buddies at exit but whenever I reenter Doomseeker the buddies are cleared from the .ini), weird.

I'm not sure how DoomSeeker works with the testing released, but when I had this issue I unchecked the testing releases bit and pointed the main Skulltag path directly to MM8BDM's Skulltag.

I know, but then you can't join 0.98d servers (for non-MM8BDM games). The point of the thread was to ask if someone had found out a way to play all IWADs without having to change the path to a different version of Skulltag every time with Doomseeker. With the testing release option, I think it's possible, but I get that error message.

Maybe I should start experimenting with IDE.
