Title: Starfox Dogfight

It all started when I was making a landmaster skin for mm8bdm and well, it somehow inspired me to make a new doom mod, Starfox Dogfight

(I made new textures for the map so it would look more like hatina base and less, megamanish)

I cant do it alone though and I'll need some help.

Skins:
Snes arwing: Done
N64 arwing:
Wolfen: front, back, and side done
Wolfen II:
Landaster: thanks to thebladeroden for the sprites to his avater pic
cats paw: (katt monroe's ship):
invader:
Cornerian fighter: Making that
(feel free to add more ideas)

SNES Corneria: Done
CTF map: working on one

Hud design:

its going to be a boss (including the demonface mode one)

Also this is going to be the Demo one 1st then we'll update from there.

I'm not sure how I should make the sprites look (I rarely sprite past 8bit) but heres the wolfen's sprites (XD I coulden't resist I had a paprcraft wolfen in my room)

(I know, they look horrid, but they do look like they could pass as a SNES style wolfen)

also update on the projects status

sound effects: Done

music: Done

Bots and Bot chats: Done (could use some more work)

weapons: laser, twin laser, hyper lasers done (not finished: Landmaster laser, red laser, smart bombs and I'm still tweaking the fireing rate of the lasers)

skins: (SNES?) wolfen 75% complete, the rest are not started yet

Classes: Done (for some reason skins dont work on tank bots)
Maps:
Corneria: 100% done
Katina:
Venom:

Skultag things (Flags, termenators, and other things): Ally cursor is done but the rest is not started.

You can help speed up some things by helping though, just PM me for detales

tripple post/update:

The internet was out for the past few days and I was playing starfox and well, I got bored and made a arwing skin. I also made classes

Ship:

Pros:
very fast moving
upgradable weapons (hyper laser can kill in 6 hits)
can fly
Fast fire rate

Cons:
weak main laser
Hard to focus fire when your opponent knows your coming

Tank:
Pros:

very good strafing
powerful main cannon (can kill in 4 shots)
high jump (the tanks DO have rockets in the game, and it will make stuff easier to reach in the tank class)

Cons:

Bounded to the ground
nowhere near as fast as the arwing
slower fireing rate and shot speed

(also I took away a script that forced you to go forward in the ship class because for some reason, with no gravity, the ship will drasticly increase speed till it can move across the lvl in half a second instead of 5)

also dispite the fact the tank class has more cons than the ship class, I had a war with bot on bot and the tank class won almost every time.

I'm surprised there aren't more posts here. This looks very interesting. I suppose I'll need Doom 2 to play this?

Not at all, I asked CutmanMike is I can use the MM8BDM SGC Demoas a base so it runs just like the demo

Oh, wow! I will definitely try this when it comes out.

Do you suppose its possible to make a message system like the one used in the games? I might decide to mod this when its out. I think it'd be fun to make a variety of different ships and whatnot.

By message system do you mean like the quit messages? I have 2 for that so far

but yeah, you can make mod it (not sure how I should make the full thing, snes style or what, but the "snes"wolfen and the snes arwing fits nicely in it though)

Actually, I was referring to the messages they use in-game, like Peppy's "do a barrel roll." You know, their transmissions.

"Do a barrel roll" is actually one of peppy's rare roaming strings.
also for the release, I'm planing on releasing the demo when we have atleast 4 stages (maby a ctf one in there too) and all the skins are done.

at the current rate its going it will be done in maby a month and a half
(I work fast)

Also I have a idea for a easter egg. I'll give one hint. corneria bridge

also, anyone here know how to make a altfire sheild weapon? I need to make a barrel roll item, and I need help with smartbomb spriting.

the enemys will be random ones like invaders (Duh) and other assorted ones

(No idea why but for some weird reason I can no longer make a poll because I keep getting weird results in stead of yes and no, so PLEASE post your answer)

I'm putting it on hold for now untill I finish the raceing mod, but i'll get back on this very soon. Also with all of my practice with scripts, it will go ALOT more smoothly. Also this is not a private project and help will be VERY apriciated because as things are now, I'm the one doing all the work. I still need some more maps and some ideas for some CTF and invasion maps. Also spriters are welcome to help at any time.

I have far too many projects going at once so I i'm going to very busy for a while

I added powerglove ninja's hud sprites he ripped and this is how it looks atm

I can easily code all of the weapons now, the weapons are as follows

arwing:
Laser, basic main fire
twinlaser, it fires 2 lasers at the same time
hyperlaser, they fire a more powerfull blue twinlaser
chargebomb, can be fired by any weapon, hold mainfire charge then fire a semi homing shot
altfire for all weps, barrelroll, they deflect shots for about a second

tank:
cannon, fires very powerfull shots, they move rather slowly but do heavy damage
chargebomb, same as arwing

(a class I'm toying with)
Ground troop:
laser pistol, fires very fast rapid weak shots
alfire, reflector, it reflects shots from you

items:
smart bomb: fires a very powerfull bomb
Laser: gives a laser upgrade
silver ring: refills a 3rd or your sheild gauge
gold ring: collecting 3 gives you an extended life bar

I know about Star Fox & I know it mostly looks like that, but can you add some type of textures as extras or something like that?

In another matter, if you don't agree on that, can you make it so that there's different eras that act as the story? like Star Fox, To Star Fox 2, and to Star Fox 64.Each area aquiring better graphics & textures.

It kind of sounds like you've never played Starfox!

This is incredibly accurate to how it looked in game, and the fact that you can sprite 3D models, Ice, is just amazing!

I'm quite happy to see this project is getting attention again, I am more than happy to accept help if anyone is willing atm, I'm building this off of the mm8bdm SCG Demo pk3 with Mike's permition, I've already have most of the sounds and stuff, I'm just missing the ring sounds, as for what I'm using for material, I'm using stuff from starfox - SF64 in snes style (corneria's battlemap from SF64)

Here is my progress log
Skins: SNES arwing, 64venomian tank and 64landmaster are done, still need to finish cats paw, invader III, wolfen, and cornerian fighter

Sounds: still missing a sound for rings, the rest are done

Sprites: need an idea for tank huds, need smart bomb explosions, and other misc ones

Maps: Corneria is done, I still need 3 more maps, I was thinking venom, sector z, and...katina maby?

Weapons, I have to finish the last few and they are done

Still think a Star Fox messaging system somehow put into the game would be awesome (bots talking like your allies do in Star Fox).

I might do some skins for this, because I think it would be fun. Maybe I'll skin some of the things you listed.

Is it possible to rip sounds from snes or N64 roms? If so, it might be the place for the original sound pieces.

It's possible to rip SNES sounds and samples with SSOR95.exe, which takes the ROM files and rips all of the soundbytes and stuff.

Here's a link to it.

All you have to do is download the Starfox ROM,  put it through the program, and you'll get quite a few samples, those are all of the samples in the game.

As for N64, I am not sure yet. I'll post a new post when I can figure out how to rip N64 sounds.
