Thanks to a certain forum administrator, weapon creating has become much easier, this is good. However, many people may have the same idea of creating later expansion weapons, this isn't good as many people will create duplicate weapons and everyone will get rather muddled. Here's a topic of sorts for 8-10 coding weapons, post if yer doing one so other people don't waste their time.

I'm doing the Laser Trident from Mega Man 9 at the mo. Might do some more eventually.

As said in the other topic, feel free to have a crack at these. MM7 weapons on the other hand are done so don't bother making them, as it will be a waste of time.

No it didn't. And I want the old search snakes back. I've never seen them lag, and insta-scaling search snakes are way more cheaper because if you're on an edge you cannot dodge it nearly as easily

If these weapons are being done for the official game, then I think I'll take reserve astro crush.

You wanna make it do damage like star crush? Or deflect things like leaf shield? Or heal like plant barrier? Or make invincible like skull barrier?

It will: Make you immortal momentarily(Skull Barrier), Reflect(Leaf Shield) and Fire(Mirror Buster) a Jewel whenever shot, and deal damage when you contact an enemy.

that would be like water shield, its gonna deflect shots if an enemy touches it it will go away and it can be shot

download famitracker binary v0.3.5 http://famitracker.shoodot.net/downloads.php extract both the mm9 se and famitracker, run famitracker and open the mm9 se look for a tab that says #1 old_mm1_enemyla..... click on it and scroll down to #29-#45 get a sound recorder and record your weapon *wav file!* and prest sound for your weapon!

Also if you bought the OST's for these games like a MANLY MAN, there's music tracks where all the sound effects are played one after another for (sort of) easy ripping.

Grab a sound editing tool. If memory serves me well, audacity is a free one you can use to select bits of the mp3 and snip them out into new wav files.

Wheel Cutter Idea:When shot,it acts like the Flame Man Wep(i forget weapon names at times) but on ground,it rolls like a bubble lead but moves as fast as a metal blade

I don't trust any rips that aren't from sprites inc. Black hole bomb and Concrete Shot should have transparency where it's black in places.

im checking the leafshield weapon.txt and im guessing "repulsion" deflects bullets, is there a code to make repulsion hurt? im sorta getting the hang of this

A_Explode is what you're after but it doesn't push you back at all. You'll have to call both A_Explode and the repulsion function (I can't remember what it's called) in the Pickup state.

These are the sprites I made and am using.
The only problem I have with them is that front/r looks more like a wedge than a blade.

I think I'm going to have it switch between firing tilted to the left to firing tilted to the right.
For example.

Every time you fire. A few other choices is just making it essentially a non-arcing air shooter, and making it unaimable(similar to charge kick) but it will be a vertical weapon, like in the original.

Okay, at the moment I've made the non-arcing airshooter version and it works fine at the moment. I have not done damage testing to see if it is balanced.

EDIT:Also is there a way to make it to where the Plug Ball fires To the ground instead of being launched like the Snakes?

I have no interest in the later expansions (yet) so there's no harm in posting them. If people make them how they think they should be made, it doesn't mean those versions will make it into the official build. I am happy for people to try though, especially if it halves the work for me!

also funny story,i somehow made plug ball (before figuring the thing out with the coding,which i still need ammo to pickup,derp) act like it was a living bouncing object that would stay near you...

Finished coding Jewel Satallite just need to transparent my sprites and test *spoiler* due to coding problems with star crash i decided to give it all the properties of leaf shield but added exploding to the repulsion actor, halfway done with chill spike

Every stage with more than one blue-white weapon kind of nullifies this.

Have you tested it, Blade? Testing is very important.

Commando's weapon looks rather easy.
This (http://zdoom.org/wiki/A_FireCustomMissile) and this (http://zdoom.org/wiki/Actor_flags#Projectile) should help you, Blade.

Also, I changed Triple Blade ever so slightly in a few ways.

1: It no longer has crap ammo.
2: It shoots a different way now.

Did you make the Shots "LTRI" and the buster "TBUS"?


Cause i figured out why Plug ball wasn't showing up,so i set the Buster that fires as "PLUG" and the Shots "PBAL"

I reckon it should pierce shield weapons and Proto Shields, since it pierced Sniper Joe shields among other stuff in the original game.

That would probably require an extra tad of coding on the end of the aformentioned weapons so it's up to mike when the MM9 expansion roles around. Will take a peek anyway.

Ahaha...I apparently made Triple Blade rather...OP.

Also, YD, the Napalm colors are far too dark for Laser Trident. Go with Ice Slasher's blue and IGMetal Blade's yellow.

Me too, man. You think the power is okay, but then you remember it rips and hits multiple times. Trident was a 1HKO before I nerfed it just now D:

How is Hornet chaser gonna work?

Well, It'll start with an idle frame, then move into attacking frames,loop deloop once and then home ina and cause very little damage, as much as a no charge Atomic Fire.

Suggestion:
The scope: Should be an invisible projectile that homes into the nearest targets at a huge speed OR should be a hitscan. Anyways, upon "hitting", creates the "scope" on the enemy, which will be seen by everyone but the player (unless they enter in chasecam)
The missile: will be shot at the same time OR one tick later. Now figure how to have it chase the one you marked.

Believe me. It was stronger at one point.  But then I nagged Korby with the fact that with full health and full ammo, Triple Blade rarely ever loses at close range. So it got more ammo and nerfed down. And it's much, much better.

I know it fired quickly in-game, but I think the Triple Blade should be more powerful but with a lower rate of fire.

Anyway, the Solar Blaze. Going well, pretty easy, but the spawning of the waves... The Weapons template didn't really explain it that well so can someone explain what the (X,X,X,X) means? I know it's the spawning location, but with X goes with which direction? Cheers.

The first X is Angle, if that's what you meant.

On air shooter(or triple blade) the first x is -15 and 15. That gives it its shotgun quality.

If you want them to be essentially Elec Beam but in front of you? Yeah. Keep in mind that if you're standing next to someone, every single projectile is gonna hit 'em.

Also, I tested it. Triple Blade and Yamato Spear are equal. They kill in equal times at point blank AND from a few yards away.

Evidently it doesn't work, when it explodes it leaves one behind and one forward, however these don't even move.

Evidently A_SpawnItemEx works different to A_FireCustomProjectile so I'll have to do me some snooping to see how it works

You'll notice near the top it mentions xvelocity. That's what you need.

Also, I tested slowing down the firing rate and beefing up the damage. It's not as fun a weapon when it's like that.

The timer explodes on contact, it also spawns both traps inside the victim so they are almost instantly killed. Timer = 10hp, Waves = 40hp each.

It fires left and right only... what gave you the idea of firing in 8?

I toyed with the colours but none of the Doom palletes I tried worked in Skulltag or whatever, besides the only differences in colour between Fire Storm and Solar Blaze is that Solar is slightly duller. I honestly thought they were the same colour when I saw it and didn't realise they were different until you pointed it out and I checked.

I have an idea for Black Hole Bomb;

Basically an extremely slow crash bomb. It's instant death if hit by the projectile, and does about half-health damage if hit by the splash damage of the black hole.

It may, but the drill bomb's explosion seems a bit forced.
If there's a way you can code it to make it explode after a second click, it would be a nice getaway weapon...

Drill bomb used to do that but it was changed because of a few problems. The main one being it was very difficult to fire a Drill Bomb and have it explode right after you fire. Secondly you would often accidentally fire a Drill Bomb right after the second click, wasting ammo and time to change weapon etc. Black Hole bomb is slow though so it might be better.

You would benefit more from figuring it out yourself, but I can explain what needs to happen:

Firing state needs to contain an A_JumpIfInventory that goes to a alternative firing state to detonate the weapon IF the player has a certain inventory item (such as BlackHoleDummy). Below that is the code for firing the black hole bomb before returning to the ready state.

The alternative firing state needs to take away that inventory from the player, then back to ready.

The select and deselect states should also clear the player's BlackHoleDummy.

The black hole bomb projectile should just be a normal projectile but in the spawn state, have it go directly to the death state (where the bomb explodes). However, before the explosion do A_JumpIfInTargetInventory to check whether the player has the BlackHoleBomb, and go back to the Spawn state again.

What this does is constantly check if the player has executed the second click by checking for the inventory and exploding when he has it no more (Doom coding tip: Projectiles class their target as the player who fired the projectile).

For more clues on working it out, check out Gyro attack! If you manage it I'll be proud :mrgreen:

I've a theory:
What if the "Spawn" state has an action to always look at 90 degrees from their spawner and loop that? I think I'll test it out...

EDIT: Theory failed. A_SetAngle doesn't seem to work.

Done the horizontally circling elements via missile living for one tick and firing the next missile of the same kind via A_CustomMissile with angle. And the 8th flag of missile firing action. Thanks GOD they are now work in skulltag. Going off shouldn't be much a problem via that action flag and A_KillChildren, in death state is launching a going off projectile, I'm leaving that to you.

I'm not "Taking" it from you, Ivory. I'm just doing weapons.

Since this place lacks newer weapons, and I got bored of mapping and thinking of creative enemies, I'm working on projectiles and turning those projectiles into weapons.

I'll do weapons that are and are not taken, just because I want to try and do them.

If yours are better, oh well. If mine are, oh well.
If it's something new, good!

I just figured that having more selection wouldn't be a bad thing.

EDIT: As far as releasing these goes... Too bad.
I'm not releasing your work. I'm releasing mine. So it's perfectly legal.

Well, if you're just going to waste the time of all of the people in this topic, then don't post them here.  This topic is for people to say which weapons they're making so other people don't do them.  If they're working on them and you just go "oh, I finished it," that just pisses them off.  Sure, you have the right to do it, but should you?  No (unless they release theirs and it sucks).  You took the weapon Ivory was listed under and did it anyways.  Now, that's not too big of a deal, but then when Ivory says "I don't mind, take it", you go off on how you aren't taking anything.  If you don't want to say "thank you", just say "ok", not antagonize them for not working fast enough.

This is about making the weapons from 8-10, not a thread for a pk3 that contains all the 8-10 weapon.

If I'm mistaken in that regard, then there are no download links because it's up to each individual author to decide whether to release their weapon or not.

problem 2: palette (again)
problem 3: freezability
problem 4: direct hit with blast doesnt go away

i kind rushed but i will tune it up BUT THIS IS STILL THE BETA!!!

It seems to be a ripper unlike the original. It's pretty bad (no offence).

I'd also reccomend giving the player a flag when it is fired and taking it away when the spike is destroyed so you can only lay down one at a time (again like the original).

I asked you if I could take over buuut...

Yes, I ripped the Arrow Shot (Dubbed it Super Arrow by mistake) manually (screenshot blastah) And setted it to 8-bits limitation (4 colors, transparent counting as color) Funny thing, the arrow itself had only two colors.


Forget that, Done the rotations on my own in a sudden spur of ideas.
Now I need the attributes of the spread's speed and of the shoot speed. Damage for main projectile and sub projectiles is 2x Megabuster

The Arrow Shot/Arrow Buster is done. And, to tweak things a little more, added a replacement for "RandomWeapon", "BassUpgrade" and "ProtoUpgrade", allowing them to interact with it (RandomWeapon may drop the ArrowShotUpgrade, Bass and Proto upgrades removes the arrow one as well.

Problem: Given my graphics card's poor nature, anything running in background has an heavier impact on skulltag than it seems.

All I can tell is: it works EXACTLY like the Arrow Shot did back then in MM8, even spawning those bullets. The thing is: Arrow Shot and its smaller projectiles deal full charged shot EACH. One shot, and the enemy is down. I catually made it nerfed, if compared to the actual thing: The actual caused 3x the normal buster damage (Current buster damage is 10.), while mine causes 2x. Also, as another addition, partially charged buster.

The current fully charged damage is 140 (considering arrow shot + its projectiles all hit the same actor)

What I can possibly do to remedy this is reduce the overall damage output by 50% (Normal Buster drops to 5, partially charged to 7, full charged and its projectiles cause 10). That would result in the full charge causing up to 70 points of damage (10*Number of projectiles that hits the enemy).

Now, to visuals: The visual aspect of the weak charged shot is the same as the one seen in MM6 and many others. I MAY tint it blue, but I'm not sure.

As for the Arrow Shot, I ripped sprites straight from the game and the pattern goes like this: ABACAD (considering A the arrow and B, C and D the "fireball" around it),

Also, I added charging WCOLORS and HUD Weapon sprites, to further enhance the visual aspect of charging buster

Sounds are all recycled from existing ones in V1C. No exceptions.

In additions, it does have an inventory icon that was too ripped from the game and edited to fit some limits.

I can actually verify that Yellow Devil can indeed code good quality weapons.  Plus, from what I've seen, your weapon quality is questionable.  However, feel free to shut us up by producing a good quality weapon.

EDIT:  I agree with Yellow Devil below me, there definitely needs to be a limit on the amount of strikers out at a time.  And don't give the Goddamned BUT IT'S NOT FINISHED, JERKS, because if you don't want criticism, don't post videos of an unfinished product.

Apart from the crappy HUD graphics, it looks fine, functionality wise. But here's my opinions:
1. I think the balls should be a bit bigger, like screw crusher big, to fit their hitbox.
2. Either reduce the ammo or the number of bounces a ball can perform. Right now it's pretty spammable and way too fast, this can lead to small corridor rape.
3. Possibly increase damage because of 2?

1 that is the original size of the sprite, but if people agree ill see what i can do
2.Its reeeeeeally weak i have to hit wind man about 10-12 times with it but if one goes down another must go up

BradeDude: Have Jewel Satellite do what Leaf Shield doesn't do: block "cutter" weapons.  It could also block maybe a few other types of weapons and pressing fire launches it a la Leaf Shield.  

As for Hornet Chaser...is it possible for it to home in on a weapon/item tile, and, upon contact, trigger the flag that grants the player the weapon (as opposed to actually bringing the tile to the player)?

Just so you know though, the cutstuff user Lego has his own versions of the 8-10 weapons in his weapons topic if you wish to look at those.
