Title: More editing forums?
Post by: CutmanMike on January 14, 2011, 03:29:35 PM
DTD requested more forums in the editing section of the mm8bdm forum. I thought it might get a bit cluttered.

Would you like some for Maps and Skins as well? Or any more for that matter? Are the moderators willing to keep track and move the correct threads (probably me and Ivory)?

Speak up!

Edit: This is actually a good place to request new forums for community projects, which I am happy to do (as long as there's sufficient evidence that the project is actually going somewhere)

Yes!
I say one for skins, one for maps and maybe one for sound packs so that people can easily find what they want, since most half-decent threads tend to get buried when there's so many threads in one place!

I'd keep track (nudge)

I would enjoy seeing seperate sub-forums for editing, so that when I check for skins, I never have to search through a million music packs and maps...
So in other words,
(click to show/hide)

What happens when people have one topic with all of the above in them?

Therefore, I propose "Skin Subforum" "Map Subforum" "Weapon(Already done) Subforum" and the original Editing just be changed to General Editing, allowing for variety topics, such as mine, to exist where they used to.

I never really liked the idea of people making "blahblah's stuff" topics for that reason alone, but it seems we're too late!

Or we could just get rid of a chunk of them by putting "expansions" as a subforum.

But aren't weapons, maps and music packs classed as "expansions" too?  ;) I want to make this as least confusing as possible and allow people to find their junk/post new junk easily.

Edit: BTW I only made a weapons forum because I was scared a tsunami of weapon help topics would show up. Apparently that is not the case.

Skins + Bots,

Maps + Texture resources,

Weapons + Classes...

That's about it I suppose

And just leave all the variety topics alone, I guess.

I say Maps and Skins are mostly in "personal" threads so thats ok.
But sound/music and stuff could get their own part.

Well since I love keeping things organized.

Main Forum

General Editing:

Sub Forums

Skins & Bots:
Maps + Texture resources
Weapons + Classes
(above I agree with DtD)

Release Forum: Purely for releasing projects and other things.

Other ideas: Project Forum, for large collaborative projects

I'll revise this if I think of anything else.

Without a doubt maps need their own forum

Maybe skins and sounds can be some type of "art" forum and be consolidated in this way

Coding perhaps should be its own forum, primarily text based and distinct from the Help and Editing that exists today

Maps, Weapons, skins, maybe music packs (there are an awful lot of them...), and keeping the general should get the job done in my opinion.

Of course, as cutty said, that relies on someone willing to shoulder the work..

What's supposed to be "general editing" then?
Pretty much everything would get their personal sub forum then.

It would be in "Editing" but not in any of it's subfourms.

Having an "etc." section seems kind of counterintuitive..

How so? It's for all the other file types that aren't in the other categories, which there doesn't seem to be many of?

Wouldn't you just want to put those in the main editing forum?
