Title: how bad are you a Mega Man nerd?
Post by: NitroBro on January 26, 2011, 11:11:35 AM
Time to see who's got it bad, like example:

My ringtone for my cell phone plays the song from mm2 when you picked a robot master

hahaha, that's awesome.

Actually, my msg tone is Mega Man's death sound (also sound of Robot Masters dying).

My ringtone is none other than this Mega Man remix:

Only thing is, people who don't know Mega Man, will listen to it and have no clue it's really a video game cover, lol.  :p

Well, right now, I'm really obsessed.  Before I took up MM8BDM skins, which aren't as hard as they look to make, I was writing about AND SPRITING custom Robot Masters.  I planned out their stage, weapon, moveset, everything--it was so official, my friend asked if he could use one in his Mega Man fan game.

Which is kinda sad, but also REALLY EPIC.

My text sound is Heavy going "SANDVICH" so it's kind of embarrasing in the office, but yeah I have a bunch of posters everywhere, and I wouldn't mind picking up some figures. Unfortunatly most ones are really expensive and DIY, so I don't have any at the mo

Back in our grade school days my friends and I used to play pretend mega man during recess, much to the discomfiture of our more sports-oriented peers. We'd all be mega man-like characters and do battle with various nintendo and star wars enemies. And now 17 years later it comes full circle as I make a Rockman 7 FC mod based on those exploits. oh, memories.

Ive also got a megaman statue for my birthday last year :D Somewhere on this forum ive posted a picture.
Also one of the reasons blue is my favorite color is because of megaman :)

I'm working on a powerpoint for the Classic, X, and Batte Network series' all combined into one powerpoint.

If that's not enough, My IPod is filled with only Mega Man songs. (With the exception of 4 of them, but 3 of those are still Mega Man related. The 4 exceptions are I Can't Defeat Air Man in English, Duane and Brand-O's Mega Man 2 wrap, a remix of the Mega Man 3 Boss Music called it's boss time, and a remix of the OoT version of Gerudo Desert)

To top it all off, I also use all the Mega Man characters in two of the chat's I'm in as well as using all the classic series weapons.

I have 325 video game remixes on my ipod.  134 of them are from Mega Man games.  And that's after sorting out all the crappy mixes.  Also, some from are even from the X series, which I have not played anything past X2.

Disco Dan, Vurez, ilp0, AE, McVaffe anyone?

Wow, I thought I was a massive Mega Man geek, but apparently I'm not that much, lol. I got heaps of remixes on my MP3 player, and the OSTs, but I have a lot of other music on it as well.

My ringtone and msg tone are MM related, but my computer background isn't etc. I have one t-shirt of Mega Man though, that I wear occasionally.  :p Not sure if I should make a topic about MM related stuff, or... what we look like with them? DUN DUN DUN!   lol.

I own 2 copies of Megaman 1, 3 copies of Megaman 2, 1 copy of 4-10, and both arcade machines (Anniversary collection for the win).

I also hacked my IPod touch to make the select a robot master noise (when you switch between robot masters and it makes that beep noise) to make the keypad sounds, and the energy refilling noise for when you plug in the charger.

I have an extensive knowledge of all Megaman games from 1-10.

I can play 23 arrangements of Megaman music on piano which are:
(click to show/hide)

I printed out an E-Tank logo to make my own E-Tank drinks (Diet Mountain Dew)

That's pretty much all I can think of right now.

Give this man a medal! lol. Haha, that is cool that you had the same idea for me for my phone, except that unfortunately I could not edit the sound effects on my phone. I wanted that sound effect to play when you open up your weapons HUD, whenever I unlocked my phone, and have the exact same "selecting" sound when I moved around for my selection. Even the powering up sound for my phone charging was on my mind! lol. Shame I could only edit ringtone and msg tome.  :p

You even reminded me that I could play MM songs on guitar (yes I know, how did I forget to mention this?   lol). I'm not great on guitar, so nothing special, but I have been mucking around with the following tracks (I'll only include the ones I can actually play entirely):

Cut Man
Bubble Man
Snake Man
Spark Man
Hard Man
Yamato Man
Dr. Wily stage 1 (MM2: only learnt recently)
Intro stage (MM7).

I play by ear, and I find it quite fun and rewarding to trying and learning these songs. Because the melodies are all single notes, it's not as difficult learning as some other more complex songs that you get (esp. in heavy metal).

Do you have any videos on your piano compositions Uscdrew?

Sadly, I don't.

I do, however, happen to have a really old video I made of the Punch-Out Bout theme.

My skills have much improved since this video by the way.

Also, thanks for the compliments.

One thing I forgot to mention was that I downloaded a program that activates whenever you start something else.  If you were to click on the internet, for example, the logo of the internet browser you use would show up in a MM2-ish boss select screen while the boss select music plays.

It's called the "Mega Man Effect" if anyone wants to google it.

I occasionally make (as in draw) fanmade weapons. They were pretty good actually. I have mega man 5 for the game boy, and I can play protoman's whistle, crashman, and flashman on the piano.
