You've probably seen me floating around by now, making some custom sprites. However, I'm in need of one more thing to begin serious work on them.
I need some form of advanced editing system--preferably Photoshop. I snooped around myself, but I'd prefer to get it straight from the folks who already have it. So, if you could send to where you "acquired" it, it would be most appreciated.

Get gimp.

Get gimp.
No links, no background information, no knowledge of its capabilities...I wouldn't buy it if it was free.

Paint.net is good too! (http://www.getpaint.net/download.html)

Thanks...if this forum had the Thank mechanic, I'd be using it.
Y'know, it's really frustrating that I have to go through all this trouble just to give my spritesheets a transparent background...but I'm rambling, and there's nothing I can do about it.
So thanks again, yadda yadda.

I prefer Paint.NET over GIMP because I think Paint.NET's interface is a bit cleaner. But that's just my opinion. :)

MSPaint is good

Ive seen people using Gimp and making far more advanced stuff than with photoshop. ;)

MSPaint is good
If only--I don't believe it's capable of making transparent backgrounds.
Anyway, since this is still my "cry for help" thread, I took a look at both GIMP and Paint.NET...and they're mind-blowingly complicated. Can someone explain to me how to do the one thing I need to be able to do--make transparent backgrounds--in ANY aforementioned system?

With gimp, make sure you don't have a "Background layer". The layer with bold text. So copy your crap to a new layer and delete the background layer. That's the 1st step.
The 2nd step is down to you.

I know you're probably busy with other stuff, but...
The entire reason of me posting is to get a straight answer with this question; fiddling leads to breaking, and I just want to do one thing with this. Talking in riddles is frustrating...could I please get a straightforward answer?
EDIT: Sorry for the bluntness. I decided to actually read through the reskin tutorial topic, and it explained what to do. You may now lock this, if you have such powers.

I wanted you to get used to the interface and learn about the tools, rather than spoonfeed you.

There's this really cool thing these people made, it lets you gather so much information with a few simple keystrokes. Try it out.

Ficarra. Second warning in one day.
Stop bumping threads. Your reason for bumping this thread is out of line. The matter was already dealt with and the topic was dead.
