Title: Art Comp: Show your love for megaman! SEE VOTE TOPIC

It's February and Valentine's day draws near. Whether you hate it or love it, it's presence is all around (thanks to all the damn shops trying to cash in) and if you happen to have a girlfriend I'm sure they'll be pestering you about it one way or another, especially if you FORGET!

So to celebrate, I'd like you to draw up a Mega Man themed valentines card. Bust out all the bad puns, hard man jokes, all that good stuff. The idea is to make it as funny/awesome/quirky/cute as possible. Even if you can't draw, you could succeed simply with an amazing punchline. Trust me!

Entries must be in by the 12th of February. Once submitted, the forum users (you guys!) will vote for the best one. The winner will get the badge and have their artwork displayed on the front page of the blog for everyone to see!

Can I be honest? The only other place that that exact pic is is on Imageshack, but it keeped saying Image and thats it. Thats were the Photobucket pic comes in. My sister uploaded it to hers, gave credit to me, told me to click this IMG box, and it worked. Those are the only places were the pic should be. Sorry for not saying this was mine and causing this random confusion :/

I pretty much had mine already done.  A bored me made 8-bit protoman in MS Paint a long time ago, so all I had to do was add the pun.

8 bit in MS Paint is surprisingly easy.

16-bit is a bit harder though, since you have to find the right colors to fit what you're trying to make.

I was able to make a 16-bit Samus though.

Splash-Woman has made two appearances--one in decorating the edges of my poem, and the other on page two, featuring a pun about how Bass' name is spelled.

Thought I would show a sketch of what is to come. I'm not sure if I want to stick with this guy b/c I have ideas for skull man (and a pencil drawn version that I should be scanning today), but there was talk of insta win submissions etc.
Gemini Man was something else to be considered but all of my puns are not for the feint of heart.

Once again still a sketch. Gimp is giving me trouble with a smooth brush so everything's turning out jagged. Would love to get some help on that but then again this isn't the greatest place for such talk now is it?

Still, the sketch is pretty okay. I would suggest trying using something like Corel or Photoshop if you've got that, but just be prepared to do a lot of touch-up becuase of the differentiating line thicknesses.

The sketch is. The final product is not. I've never played Megaman and Base so I had no background for Pirate Man. That was the first thing that popped up so I sketched it.

All I see is butthurt. The fact that I said it was nothing more than a sketch and not a final entry should signify an unfinished copy. Pointing and accusing in such a black and white manner is rather crude, especially when this is just a card submission; you give the impression of someone who's been struck by Cupid's butthurt arrow  :mrgreen: .
Also the game.

For the record I didn't trace over it, if I did then it would of looked nicer, second, expect something different than a copy, that is the point of this contest. I understand your concern and I see my mistake.

I just don't get the whole tracing and calling it your own thing. I know tons of people do this; I see stuff like that get uploaded to dA all the time. The only reason it bugs me is there's so many good artists out there, and it sucks that people get away with that kind of thing.

A2P didn't commit a crime or anything. Some people even say fanart is a crime. You posted something you traced and you called it a sketch without mentioning the artist's name or handle. I don't like it, but it's no big deal. I wanna thank you Tails_Hatsune for pointing it out otherwise I would not have known.

Sorry for making any stink out of this; this is a fun Valentine's contest. I'd love nothing more than to see more creative, funny entries like all those ones that were posted before. Thanks to everyone entering and sharing your freetime to create some art.

Sometimes when you take someone else's work and do a minimal amount of effort, you really make it your own!  For example:

Buford Tannen: Smile, Marshall. After all, this is an art contest.

Marshall Strickland: The only party I'll be smiling at is the one that sees A2P at the end of a rope.

I would usually ignore something like this but open mspaint, copy the original picture and paste it in there. Then paste the "sketch" in. You'll notice the sizes fit completely without any need to resize the image. Denying that you traced it is completely ridiculous but if I were to go and check all of these entires on DA or whatever I'd be here all week. So I'll allow it if that's your final entry.
