Title: Gummywormz's Maps (Oh god another map pack)
Post by: Gummywormz on February 19, 2011, 12:55:00 AM
I'm working on a map pack. Info on page 2

WARNING!
The following map(s) are probably horrible. Don't download them.

GMAP1 / Four Corners VERSION TWOOOOOOOOOOOO (Download (http://www.mediafire.com/?kh2rp0ar01czjr8))
I finally got a decent idea I can make a map out of. If you want screenshots, they are in my maximum mm8bdm thread in the projects subforum. Improvements include custom music (will most likely be changed) wider hallways, and stuff has been replaced. I will be holding a public beta test for this map soon.

These screenshots will probably make the map look bigger than it actually is.

Rule of thumb, don't expect people to download something without screenshots of what it looks like.

Did you make a copy of the exact same map and change the textures about 4 times. And what was the point in making a level wad that sucks

Nope, he didn't. And instead of asking what was the point, you could be a constructive critiscizer and help him get better.

Mapping is much harder than it looks. A good map needs to consist of good detail and a good layout.

This map, at least it's a start. Don't expect any of your early maps to be instant hits.

Hey im new. I started not to long ago, and I kinda know mapping is hard,(I made 10 stages, 4 a day) and i know early maps arnt just going to become popular instantly. (Mines didnt) plus he called it
Gummywormz's Horrible Maps
But one thing he can do is try and get his ideas from other maps (thats what i did).

I mean vertically. See those centaur man tiles in the first screenshot? That's bad. Make it taller so the tiles are completely up.

Bah. If I wanted to play a "giant flat circle" map, I'd use the old CSCMP.

Some of these maps might play well, but as said they're bland and not imaginative. Also the water map I see as being overly massive - getting around in a water map is SLOW.

Eh. I know I don't map, but I think that one part of Crystal Clear looks a lot like Dive Man's stage. Also, I think a better name for it would be "Crystal Clearing". That's just my thoughts.

The bottom part is susposed to be like dive man's stage, yes.

Magma core is done being spruced up, most notably touching the magma pillar now causes instant death.

The next 3 maps will be the secret maps. Then I'll fix up the rest of the other maps.
