Title: MMINV Map Project - We need YOU!

Well, Invasion progress has been lacking in the past few months, and we've decided to get back to work on it.

What we need is maps, and nothing more. Enemies, ACS Configuration, custom weapons and balancing issues have all been solved and completed.

While we've done a lot of work, we need the community to help us finish this project for a final release! So, we're asking the community to make us maps.
Any maps you send will be judged, and early on, will most likely be accepted.

There's a set of 30 maps we wish to have created, all suitable for Invasion, without crazy ways to die or get trapped, or camp.

Want to submit a map? Look below at what needs done, and make sure your map fits the rules here. Want to test a submitted map? Just PM me about it and I'll send you it! [I won't be sending too many maps to the same people..]

If you want to submit a map that's already been done, feel free to do so! We'll pick the best out of each map number to use for the official release.

You do not have to use the 32-length system that most official maps use.
Feel free to use corners and abstract design all you wish!

Maps can use any textures you see fit, as long as it isn't a blatant eye-sore.

Credit is given to all whom submit maps for this, even if your map isn't used! Your map will be sent back to you with enemies, and items, as a momento if it is not taken. You may release that map as your own creation after we send it back to you, as a token of appreciation.

It's a lot, but who would play something released with only like 5 maps? Especially since it's a game mode.. *cough*oldpre-release*cough*

Not only would people possibly play it because they or their friends made some maps, but they'd have a LOT of maps to get to explore and rage enemies in!

We're hoping to get around...

1-5, 10 waves
6-10, 15 waves
11-15, 20 waves
16-20, 30 waves
21-25, 50 waves
26-30, depending on what boss can fit on what map, it'll vary per waves.

Well, I have recently taken up mapping, so maybe I could make a map for this sometime. I'm not very confident though.


Then again, with all the things I need to do, I'm not sure if I'd ever get around to it..

Alright Llama... But we have like 12 versions of mets now! (And 5 versions of heli-mets. VERSIONS INSIDE VERSIONS)

Just make sure it can handle:

ChaseMets [Mets that chase you around and hide after some time]
Jumping Mets [Mets that jump onto you, and around the map]
Helicopter Mets [Mets that fly around, land to shield after being hit, and shoot speratically]
Tunnel Mets [MOLES? No, but mets that go underground are fun too.]
Missile Mets [Mets that shoot high-powered missiles, but never move]
..and more. Most others will manage if you can supply ample areas for these six.

NOTE:
I recently got a submission from Smashbro27 (he got help from Ice).
Their map will not be included, as it doesn't fit the rules, but it will become an additional map in the pack simply because of how much work was put into it. MMINV31 approved. [Not releasing to the public]

Just specify which MMINV map this is for. I'd prefer if it wasn't a 21+ map. XD

If anything, I can make this MMINV32, (extra map) for nostalgia on the old Invasion we ALL enjoyed so very much. :3 100 waves? CAN-DO! That way, you can make it any size you wish.

Wait, a map with only metools? Would probably work better on a stage modeled after MM4DW1, since that stage had only different kinds of metools.

That stage was troll, Myroc. But, it's his idea, so let him craft it the way he sees fit, with what little restrictions there are.

I think MM5 had a castle stage with only Mets too if I'm not mistaken.

EDIT:  NVM, Wily Castle Stage 2 has a section with a lot of Mets, but it's not the whole stage.

Read the rules, bro. You don't add any of that. That's what WE do. You just make the map itself. No items, no spawners, just a textured map with player spawns.

The other topic directs me to cast map suggestions here.  *Deep Breath* Well, here I go.

In case you don't recall, someone--a long time ago--created a map based off of a Mario Kart 64 arena, Block Fort. (http://mm8bdm.wikia.com/wiki/Block_Fort)  Where am I going with this?  Well, this map got me thinking, and I, myself, think that another battle arena would be perfect for Invasion:  Double Deck.  It has enough variation to allow many different spots for enemy spawning, and I believe we have textures that are similar to those used.

I, personally, believe the weapons should be normally placed instead of using the Block Fort arena's Item Pick-Up mechanic, but if you want it, go ahead.

All-in-all, I just think this would be a pretty cool thing to see in general.  People have been making all sorts of Mario weapons, too:  Red, Green, Blue Shells, Starmen, Fire Flower...after a couple minutes of searching, I even found the proper 8-Bit track for being used.

I'm sorry, didn't realize I was directly talking to you simply because it was your topic.  :roll:  I'm just kind of speaking my mind over here.  Since it's unlikely to get done anyway, I don't care who does it, if anyone.

Could've sworn I had more to say then just my own pouting--Oh, stupid question.  How do you invasioners feel about water/low gravity?  Again, I don't map, just a question.

It's an acceptable idea, though I'm not quite sure how it'll affect enemies that jump or use Z-Thrust... Might cause some issues.

I did Invasion recently when ThatGuy was hosting it. That was a very refreshing experience, so I really wish you guys the best of luck in the project. As for map making, I suppose I could work on one, but let me ask a question: You just want stages that have textured walls and maybe some variety in terrain, but no gimmicks? If so, I could probably do a map using the current ones the pack has as resources.

You can add gimmicks, but depending on the map, keep deadly things limited. Look at the map list info for how many deathly things can be added per size. (Trying to keep enemies from death too easily or from getting stuck OR from being unreachable OR from players being too annoyed)

Pretty much a map with one player spawner (for myself to playtest), all laid out with textures as you think they look good, maybe some holes from enemies to spawn from (seems to be a theme but you don't have to!)..
If you want one of the newly accepted maps to base it off of, I can send you one or two. Just try not to totally rip off the map itself.

You wouldn't have to, Ryuga.

If you're making a map, all you have to do is make the layout, texture it, and add ONE player spawn. Nothing more.

How about you guys wait for AwNet to be released instead? I mean, there's going to be viruses that move around and attack you like monsters do, so think of it as a Battle Network themed Invasion.

Even though this project did have it's flaws and problems, it really did have alot of potential!
I too would really love to see this project brought back from the dead.

I think I can see quite a few things that this project doesn't need:
It doesn't need custom weapons,
It doesn't need max wave counts higher than 15 waves or so,
It doesn't need the more "made up" enemy types,
And it doesn't need a total of 30 maps. (16-20 maps would most likely be alot better!)

Quality over quantity is key.
