Title: Google shot themselves in the foot again

They've now put a FORCED linkage in place between Youtube accounts and Google accounts. Meaning anyone without a Google account can no longer get into their Youtube accounts. Now normally it takes a lot to get me this angry (it's taking every last bit of my willpower to NOT swear) but not only is this the dumbest thing they have done so far but it's causing far too many problems for the few people who already had both and already linked em. Apperently it logs you into both if you just log into one. Not only that but their verification is only linked into cellphone text messages. A huge invasion of privacy and I don't even have a cellphone (why would I want to talk to people out of the house when I don't like using my phone at home).

Wall of text over...I think. Need to kill something now :evil:

If only I was that far in singleplayer T_T Can't you just give me a high powered sniper rifle and the addresses for googles development team?

I found a work around for the no cellphone but even that was annoying. I HAD a gmail account before but I couldn't even recover the password from it so I created a new one and linked it in. Now it changed my password on youtube to the gmail account one :mad: Seriously, google...go *insert long line of swears here*

Yeah, that didn't help my mood much but it still felt good

There's very little to understand :? Google is making every effort lately to anger it's 2 user bases, Youtube and Gmail

*Disclaimer*-This isn't my comment. Just one of the many found in  google's help forums

I use my Google account ONLY for the calendar to manage my work schedule, mainly.  I use it for nothing else, and has no relation to my YouTube accounts.  Linking them together is clunky, and only complicates matters.  I have FOUR YouTube accounts.  If I link them all to the same Google account, how am I supposed to log into one instead of the other three?  Or do I have to create another three separate, purposeless Google accounts?  Explain that to me, please.

Even then, YouTube is only pestering me about my original account which was registered using a different email than my Google account.  It doesn't pester me about the account registered with the SAME email as the Google account.  If any two were to be linked, it would be them, but again, there is no need to associate the two accounts.  They have nothing to do with one another, and I prefer keeping these things separate.  I'm sick and tired of having to register on every site I goto in order to just use the site to its fullest potential.  Now, I have to create another account to use the account I already have?  That's entirely ass-backwards, and idiotic.

Basically every comment their "help" center is getting says about the same thing. It's inconvient, clunky and was already glitching to begin with. If for example Cutman Mike made you get another account just to use your forum account would you be happy about it? Granted this would never happen because it seems to take a huge group of developers to be this stupid but the point still stands. First the changes to commenting on videos, then the front page being taken a massive step back, now this. If this is all just for the collection of data as some people have said then I hope they like the fake name I used on the new gmail account

Invasions of privacy on the internet are the new here-and-now.
It has already been proven time and again that, not only is there no serious resistance to this trend, but few people seem to care enough about the subject at all (Facebook's policies come to mind).
We will be seeing nothing but more of the same until either the internet is uninhabitable as such, or government reform is introduced.
The latter always carries with it all sorts of nasty additions which nobody ever wanted, while only marginally solving a problem (if at all).
In short, you can blame the vast majority of people who will happily do this to access their account (including yourself, I assume).

Not happily...not in the least and believe me I will not stay quiet about this stupidity (granted that anger will be placed far more on other sites). There's already been reports of people getting their gmail accounts jacked and losing everything that was linked into em from the few people who linked the accounts back when it was optional. Some claim to improved security google *slow sarcastic clap*

I really don't understand this. First, Why have a more than one youtube account?

Second, you have to use your email to register on sites, what's new?

Third, you can customize your youtube so you don't see messages you don't want to see.

 I just don't understand what Google or Youtube did wrong.

I'd have to agree. I don't even see why having four separate youtube accounts could be practical... except if you are a troll. In any case, I could care less since I already used my gmail account for youtube account.

Well I didn't use gmail for my youtube account when I created it back in 2006. I have 1 youtube account and 2 hotmail accounts, one of which is a backup due to some online game server move issues. Now all the emails I should be recieving to my hotmail account are going to this useless gmail account which has to remain logged in for me to even access youtube. There goes ever logging into youtube from class again. It's more the ignorance and assumption that everyone owns a cellphone and is so willing to give a faceless company their phone number that annoys me.

Also there are companies that run multiple youtube accounts. Machinima has the old default machinima plus respawn, sports and realm now all of which now have to be linked with a google account that will result in a shared password. There are also quite a few well known gameplay commentators who run not only their own channel but either a joint one or a community spotlight one. So it's not completely unheard of or just done by trolls
